... I copied/pasted the text into a word processor to get an add-free text.

I use Win10's version of Notepad for that sort of thing -- copy/paste into Notepad, right-click select all, & copy/paste wherever.

FWIW, Notepad consists of one 196KB file, along with *for the US*, a 12KB .mui file in a subfolder named en-US. I used resource-hacker to extract the icon image for the desktop shortcut.

The link above did not work for me. I used https[:]//youtubetotranscript.com

It worked OK on https[:]//www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJC_fPOsxI0

explaining how to use the McBook Neo I copied/pasted the text into a word processor to get an add-free text.

I’ve been looking for a simple way to turn longer YouTube videos into text without having to manually pause the video and copy everything.

For things like tutorials, interviews, podcasts, lectures, and research videos, having the transcript available can make it much easier to search for a specific topic or quote.

One simple workflow I found useful is:

Copy the YouTube video URL.
Paste it into a YouTube transcript tool.
Generate the transcript.
Copy the text or download it for later use.

I recently came across YTtoText, which does exactly this:

YouTube to Text

The useful part is that you can turn a YouTube video into readable text instead of repeatedly going back through the video. Timestamps are also helpful when you want to find the original section of a video again.

I think this can be especially useful for:

Students taking notes from lectures
Researchers looking for specific quotes
Creators turning videos into written content
People who prefer reading instead of watching
Anyone working with long interviews or podcasts

For me, the biggest advantage is simply being able to search through the content as text instead of scrubbing through a 1–2 hour video.

Has anyone here been using YouTube transcript tools for research, studying, or content creation? What features do you find most useful?
