Both scans gave a clean bill of health from 62 different anti malware suites (see end of images below).

Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe is a fully updated version of the original game plus it's expansion Hidden & Dangerous: Fight for Freedom (in the US the expansion was called Hidden & Dangerous: Devil's Bridge).

The Deluxe version was released for free as a commercial promotion for the sequel Hidden & Dangerous 2 (which has been available on Steam for a few years now HERE. You can also get the original game with it's expansion included as a single installation, called Hidden & Dangerous: Action Pack on Steam HERE. Both titles, although dated by todays standards are excellent games, 'and when on sale' are usually dirt cheap.

The deluxe version which is a 264.1MB download contains all (I think) of the original Hidden & Dangerous, and the add-on together with all updates and patches as well as an editor to create your own scenarios. The game was a WWII tactical action shooter that allows you to command a detachment of soldiers; an elite SAS unit, who are ordered to carry out various dangerous missions that include kidnapping, sabotage, espionage, etc.

The original game was released in 1999; developed by Illusion Softworks and published by Take-Two Interactive and TalonSoft for Windows, Dreamcast, and PlayStation. The PlayStation port of the game was developed by Tarantula Studios. It is regarded as one of the pioneering tactical first person shooters of the genre. At the time it's graphic was ground breaking.

The promotional Deluxe version was released prior to Hidden & Dangerous 2's release in 2003.

The game features a soldier selection screen where you can choose various characters, each with their own attributes and strengths. This occurs before each mission, giving you the opportunity to try out each of the various characters available and to see which you will settle on if replaying the game. A comprehensive load-out sequence is also available where players have access to a variety of weapons and equipment. Mission briefings outline objectives, intelligence on enemy strengths and recommended plans of advance. During missions, players can command directly by toggling through the soldiers in their squad, voice commands or a tactical map which allows for real time control or planned manoeuvres once the map is exited. Missions include, sabotage, search and destroy, POW rescue and resistance aid. The game features missions in Italy, Yugoslavia, Germany, Norway, the North Sea and Czechoslovakia. Despite certain historical liberties taken with actual SAS missions and time-lines, the game retains a degree of historical accuracy and intense atmosphere, including realistic wounding as squad members can be heavily wounded or killed by even brief enemy contact.

As with many of the early shooters, there was a modding community where additional content or graphic improvements were added to increase the playability of the game. I've not searched extensively for mods, but you'll find some mods and add-on files from Mod DB HERE (Add-ons) and HERE (Mods) as well as mods for the Hidden & Dangerous Extended Mod HERE. You can also get a graphic overhaul mod from Game pressure called Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe - H&D Deluxe Overhaul Mod v.2.7 HERE (the fourth image above was taken using the graphic mod). From this page you have to wait a short time then two download sites the same as the deluxe versions downloads i.e. Alamo and Krypto will appear. I checked the downloads from both those and the files were 100% clear of any malware.

When downloading the Deluxe version of the game I downloaded from both sites i.e. Alamo and Krypta and both files were clean.

I've been meaning to restart the project I started back in 2008 where I would post free games on a regular basis. Some of the community used to help as well. We would post games virtually every day for several years. It became a little too much for me as life got in the way, with my wife suffering a brain haemorrhage and the kids needing more support during their examination years at secondary school, mainly to ensure they got the grades for the university courses they wanted to do (Pharmacy and Dental), plus of course other things such as numerous projects I'm always starting or are involved in.

Anyway, I've been accumulating lots of free games over the last few years. I was about to start this project around the time the pandemic hit back in Feb 2020 and started off with one of my all time favourite breakouts that the developer made freeware some years ago called Breakquest. I always list it in my top ten all time favourite breakouts because every one of it's 100 levels has a different level design, plus it includes some unusual bat and ball shapes as well as a configurable power up section where you can customise the game to make it much easier or much harder depending on which power ups to decide to use.
