As someone who HATED the left tab thingy, and as someone who does not use most social media, I am pleased and relieved to see it go - I was taken aback by how annoying it was. Thanks for listening to others.

7-19-12 -- Yay! I just noticed that this left margin Tab has been changed and moved to the right margin, where the other social icons are. Well done, and thank you :):)

BuBBy, I forgot to reply to something else you wrote: "try installing with your normal user account that you browse with."

Installing anything almost always requires elevation. There may be one or two installers I have ever run that didn't, but by far, at least somewhere in the install process, I will get the inevitable UAC dialog requiring me to enter the admin password. I always wondered at troubleshooting directions here about trying to run setups as administrator because with the rare exception, *everything* is installed as administrator due to UAC elevation.

I wish I knew some way to stop this happening as this would solve so many issues with software registering only to the admin account, or installing start-menu icons only there. If the installer doesn't have to write anything to the system folder, or even to the protected program files (I usually install to a different folder) then why should it require elevation?

I am using the version of Ad Muncher given away last November. Is it safe to update this due to the giveaway being a subscription and not the program itself? Moving on, no Ad Muncher bar appears on a CTRL-right-click, just the usual context menu. Maybe a feature of a more recent version.

In any event, I don't really mind as I don't intend to renew my AM subscription due to the high cost unless they offer some sort of deal and so I don't want to get too dependent on it. Though it only works for the current session, I do have a firefox extension that will temporarily remove the graphic until next time I load the page.

I would add that this issue with the new wrapper will also keep me from visiting this site, but with all the complaints I expect this to be resolved soon- hopefully with the removal of the offending themida aspect. Once resolved it will be business as usual. Thanks again.

7/7/12 -- Hmmm . . . it looks to me like this Tab has been made narrower! It now overlaps about one-third of the first letter of text along the left-hand margin -- a big improvement! At least it doesn't interfere with reading the text.

A big "Thank you!" for making this change!

What version of Ad Muncher are you running? You should be able to run the current version - and try installing with your normal user account that you browse with.

To get the menu to config, you hold down CTRL and right click on the webpage - a blue Ad Muncher bar should appear with stats and some buttons with functions you can select.

Alternatively if you get stuck - you should be able to open the Ad Muncher config window, and select the "Contact" tab and chat to support and they are really helpful in fixing or explaining stuff if you get stuck.

I guess my post wasn't clear enough. The context items (actually *not* in a separate menu, but a list of Ad Muncher items at the bottom of the context menu) ONLY show up when I right-click on a window that is being run as administrator. However, Ad Muncher is not run as administrator, so trying to block the image fails. Irrelevant really, as had it worked the image would only be hidden I'm sure if I were to run the browser as administrator which I do not- both the browser and Ad Muncher are run from the standard user account I am logged in under. However, as I mentioned the context menu items do not show up for some reason. Some programs allow you to add or remove context menu items from the program itself after installation, but a quick look-through revealed no options so far that do this. And I have no idea why the hotkey doesn't work.

QunMang -- make sure that Ad Muncher is already running. Then, right-click on the Retweet Tab, and the context menu will pop up. Look near the bottom of the menu, and you'll see 'Add Muncher' with an arrow. Choose Add Muncher > Block image, and follow the prompts. Refresh the page. I'm running XP 3, so admin rights are irrelevant. Hope it works! If not, then try one of the free alternatives mentioned above.

Hmm. I am trying to find the context menu options in AdMuncher. It would appear that it only adds context menu items if the browser is process is elevated to administrator, which makes sense as the install was run as administrator as that is required. I ran IE as administrator which made the context menu appear, but then AM failed to remove the image. It gave a list of potential reasons, but I have a suspicion it is because AM is running on my standard user account but IE was running on the admin account. I figure if I can find the option to add the context menu items, then it will add it to the standard user menu which will allow me to then block the image as it should.

Unfortunately, all Shift+CapsLock+right mouse does is turn on caps lock and open the context menu.

Well, I guess I don't care that much. I don't intend to renew the AM subscription in November anyway- if I recall correctly it costs an arm and a leg for a yearly subscription. So best not get too dependent on AM.

Thanks, Inas -- I noticed this program when Ad Muncher was the GotD program. Here's their link with more info (and Support/Q & A): http://www.adfender.com/. It's not limited to Firefox (as AdBlock is), but blocks ads in "Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, Avant, K-Meleon, Maxthon, Lunascape, Epic and more."

There's a 100% freeware program called "adfender" that also does a good job of blocking ads. You can find and download it at C-NET's download.com site. Editors give it a 5-star rating.

graylox -- where is the "TabsLock" key? I have CapsLock, NumLock, and ScrollLock, but no TabsLock :(

Edit (again): Since I couldn't figure this out, I figured out an alternative, which worked. Make sure that Ad Muncher is running first; then, right-click on the Retweet Tab, and the context menu appears. Choose Add Muncher > Block image, and follow the prompts. Refresh the page, and the *&*%^ Tab disappears!

I have some trouble to explain, 'cause my puter and I still don't know the correct English terms. Sorry.

But it's really easy. Just click Shift+TabsLock+right mouse, then the AdMuncher bar will show up (on top of the homepage) and its easy to just point on the part you will have munched.

Good luck.

graylox -- I forgot about using Ad Muncher, and I have it from GotD!! Thanks for reminding me, and please don't have a bad conscience about mentioning it :)

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who dislikes this!

As I mentioned in my first post, if the label could be made narrower, so it does not interfere with the text, that would be acceptable to me . . .

Edit: I just launched Ad Muncher, and refreshed the GotD page. Ugh -- the d*nm tab is still there, and still annoying :(

Suze Ad Muncher loves such things :)
It was a GOTD some time ago.
Or try Adblock Plus
http://adblockplus.org/en/

OTOH I have a bad conscience to give this advise. We get free tools and forget that the site has to bring some money for the owner.
Mr.+Mrs. GOTD have to feed their cat too....

7/5/12 -- Is this new? Personally, I abhor things like this, especially when it interferes with reading the content on a page. This tab moves along with scrolling, overlapping and therefore hiding the left-most text in the product's (SoftSkin Photo Makeup) description :(

If it can be made narrower, that would help a lot!
