There are lots and lots of freeware programmes, just google with "free photo editor" e.g.:

If you go to yesterdays comments section you will find several community members posted alternatives to yesterdays giveaway, that in their opinions (generally) were considered better than yesterdays giveaway (In their opinions). To open up the comments section (which is restricted to showing only the first three comments), go to the end of the third comment and click where it says View all comments >>

Alternatively you could contact the developer and explain that you had problems activating the program yesterday and ask them for a solution. There is a faint possibility that they may give you a registered copy. (Though probably not) :)

The following is a list of those you'll find referenced in the comments section, though not necessarily linked to; (so I've linked to their home pages).

• The GIMP

• IrFan View (v4.3 is now free)

• AnyPic Image Resizer (says it doesn't cost a dime on the download page)

The first two are full blown image editing software’s and not just image resizer’s so you'll be getting much more. The main downside is that yesterday’s giveaway had a simple GUI that was easy to follow whereas both The GIMP & IrFan View need some time to get used to. Still, they are free.

I tried to download AnyPic Image Converter yesterday but could not get the link to open on my laptop. Today I am on my pc and the offer has gone, anyway I can recover it as this is a real useful product.
