Be VERY careful about software on eBay -- you'll find both legitimate & illegitimate offers. You can find a comparison of security software apps or suites at av-test[.]org. Generally the least invasive security software is Defender that comes with Win10, and now gets high ratings at that site. Apps or suites like Bitdefender & Kaspersky do have a Lot of overhead -- IMHO they're near impossible on low powered hardware or with a VM. For those cases I use McAfee LiveSafe, which is still slightly more intrusive than Defender. Sorry but I have no info or experience with MalwareBytes.

Come antivirus sto usando Kaspersky e tra pochi giorni mi scade la licenza. Diciamo che sotto il lato sicurezza mi sono trovato bene, non ho avuto infezioni/problemi, ma a volte è risultato davvero troppo invasivo. Per ogni nuovo programma molteplici avvisi, anche segnandoglieli come "affidabili" gli avvisi continuano ad arrivare, a volte blocca a prescindere senza nemmeno mostrare un avviso etc..
Sono tentato da malwarebytes, ne parlano bene e si trova la licenza lifetime a 5-6€ su ebay. Cosa ne pensate, provo con questo?

If you haven't gotten the files yet, a *potential* solution, assuming the drive itself didn't fail, *might* be to research the big security vulnerabilities they've found with some WD external drives. You might not be able to get your files the right way, but if the wrong way works, doing it like a hacker, may be all you need.

Something else to check out is if WD has released new firmware for the drive -- they have for at least some of their external drives because of those vulnerabilities. If there is new firmware you'd have to check to see if that left your data intact though.

You have two problems:
(1) the correct password is invalid, suggesting a physical problem with the drive
(2) the drive uses hardware encryption so data recovery is pointless

There are a couple of things that you can try if you really, really need the data:
(1) Download and run the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics. Maybe it will find and fix the problem.
(2) Reformat the drive with a quick format, setup the drive with the same password as before, run Recuva to recover data from the reformatted drive. You'll only get usable data if the new encryption is the same as the old. If the encryption is based on the password then you might get lucky. Otherwise, your empty drive will be available for use.

Ho la password scritta in un foglio che ho utilizzato tantissime altre volte ma niente, non è possibile accedervi.
Ho provato altre possibili combinazioni di password ma non c'è stato verso di riuscire ad entrare.
Come posso procedere?
Ho bisogno di recuperare i miei file, ma ovviamente non mi fido di mandarlo ad un centro di recupero. In che altro modo posso recuperare i file? E' possibile craccare la password o bipassarla?
Accetto tutti i modi per recuperare i file anche quella di perderci l' hard disk.

I don't know if your drive has the same issue but it would fit your description. There's nothing special about the drive itself, you should be able to remove it and install it in a PC or external drive enclosure.

Per cui questa è solo la mia opinione.
Purtroppo la maggior parte delle software house non sono italiane e la nostra lingua, in termini di "possibile ritorno economico" non vale molto. Triste ma è così.
Inoltre ormai, tutto è basato sulla lingua inglese, e di conseguenza poche, o solo le grandi software house, decidono di tradurre in molte lingue (inserendo anche quelle di scarsa diffusione, e tra quelle, anche l'italiano).
Per ultimo, il sito è anglosassone e quindi è "ovvio" che puntino sulla loro lingua madre.
Di conseguenza, come consiglio, considera sempre tutto come "lingua inglese". Se poi fra le opzioni di linguaggio c'è anche l'italiano...potrebbe essere una piacevole sorpresa.
Ripeto, è solo una mia opinione e quindi potrebbero esserci mille altre ragioni.

The situation's only a bit better for emulators. That doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't use them for games -- a lot of casual games for example don't require all that much in the way of resources -- but only that that's where VMs are weak.

Dual [or multi] booting lets you access everything hardware, but adds the hassle of taking time to switch. I have never been a customer of Apple -- near zero experience with the brand. That disclaimor out of the way, if a PC can boot Apple's OS [e.g. a Hackintosh], I can't see why it would be difficult to boot Windows or *nix from an Apple PC. Apple supplies BootCamp, which is a bit restrictive -- my guess is that with a bit of research there are probably several alternative solutions to be found.
