Peter C1,
You have until April 25 to activate your account. I didn't even start until the day after it was offered.

The only problem was an error message:
Error: Unable to access jarfile C:\Program Files\Focusky\fontGenerator\FFG.jar

I don't think that was because I started a day later because the same error happened when I installed version 2.12.1 nearly a year ago.

Looks like good software, but I was a little thrown off by the price on gwotd saying it's normally $24.75, when in fact it is a subscription software that is considerably higher priced.

Reply   |   Comment by Carl  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Hi Carl,

Normally, Focusky is a subscription software that values $99/year. But in this giveaway, you can get 3-Month Focusky Pro Plan which values $24.75 for free.

Yikes ... 500MB for a slideshow maker? Good thing hard drives have gotten so big ...

Reply   |   Comment by JimC  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

JimC, I do not think it is a slideshow maker. I publish the presentation as video, i think it is powerful.

Reply   |   Comment by Elina  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Hi JimC,

Although 500 MB, it is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

3 month license? To even get a decent use of this program you'd have to be someone that very regularly does presentations. I know they exist, but I am not going to be doing one in the next 3 months. Too bad because it has some cool features that just don't exist in Powerpoint. Closer to Presi.

Reply   |   Comment by Vader  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Vader, Focusky has some cool features that don't exist in PowerPoint and Prezi, i have used it for many years, it definitely helps me a lot in my work. I sincerely recommend you to have a try.

Do I understand correctly that the software is only good for 3 months?

Mr. T., not,you can use it as the pro users for three months. But in the 4 month, you can still use it as the free users.

This looks like it's capable of polished, sophisticated presentations, tutorials, etc. in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing and has a creative mind. A complete beginner would probably need a number of practice runs to get the hang of it. I occasionally make video tutorials to help people with computer tasks, but that type of tutorial benefits more from the Keep-It-Simple approach rather than more elaborate or razzle-dazzle efforts. Free and easy to use video screen capture w/audio software is widely available, but if you need something more sophisticated then today's giveaway might be worthwhile. The "Homepage" link to their website at the top of this page has several examples of presentations created with Focusky Pro, so check'em out!

Maybe I am missing something, but the GAOTD site here says the program is $24.75 to buy, but the Focusky website says they have a monthly tiered pricing program for their wares (which I understand, but despise) with major limitations unless you opt for the $400 lifetime fee. I was looking for a program like this and would have paid $25 for it but NOT worth a crazy monthly fee in my opinion. Just uninstalled it.

Reply   |   Comment by Lytwrytr  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Lytwrytr, yet, if you want to pay for lifetime, it is OK. But the 3-month is for the new users to try the pro feature, i think.

Reply   |   Comment by Elina  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Lytwrytr, Maybe you don't mention that the GAOTD site here says the program which values $24.75 is free to get and can be used for 3 months. You can get the code and activate your account as Pro before April 25th.

An excellent, intuitive piece of software. The big problem for me, is that I would never use it frequently enough to warrant purchasing a subscription (ditto most subscription model software). So not a keeper for me.

After creating a presentation, can I save it in an HTML5 format that can be used on my website?

Sounds & looks interesting but what about "live presentations"? How can I interact, pause, loop and transition sections?
In a 'live' seminar, without pause or interaction limits use to little beyond what can be done with a decent video editor / compiler ?

Reply   |   Comment by Lifesys  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

Lifesys, the meaning of "live " depends on you. The Focusky just give you more chance to service your audicnes. I think the presentation is vivid and cool. My friends love it.

Wasted my time and WiFi for downloading this 580MB software... :(

When I tried opening Setup.exe it just says:

A required privilege is not held by the client.

Please fix this as soon as possible... :(

Reply   |   Comment by Stephen Psalm  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+8)

Stephen Psalm,

That's not a problem with this software, I had this problem and the cause was another program given away here. If you right click the setup file, you should have a context menu option allowing you to "trust" this file and run it. Otherwise that particular program won't let that run.

Reply   |   Comment by Raphael  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Stephen Psalm, it is a pity. May be you can find an answer here: http://focusky.com/kb/

Keep trying to register but it says Invalid email address, please try again!

Reply   |   Comment by Joel Malach  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+13)

Here's a possible answer to my own question
When I entered my normal .co.uk email address, it says the email address is invalid, but when I used an alternative .com email address, it accepted it.
Perhaps they don't want UK subscribers?

Reply   |   Comment by Joel Malach  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Joel Malach, Yeah, said the same thing to me. Same address I've been using for many years; Go Figure.

Reply   |   Comment by JonE  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Joel Malach, Nah! It's apparent that they're trying to weed out fake address. I don't know what the protocol is, because, my ISP address ends in ".rr.com" and it was not accepted. I did not try my alternate address (fastmail.us), but based on your experience and the fact that, in the past, my alternate has been tagged as invalid, on occasion, I'm sure it would not have worked either.

Reply   |   Comment by JonE  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Joel Malach, P.S. This is the first and only time my ISP address has been tagged as invalid.

Reply   |   Comment by JonE  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

JonE, It is said that this giveaway was for new users. So you, the old users, may be create a new account with the different email.

Reply   |   Comment by Elina  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Elina, Thanks, for that. You know, I never thought of that, but it's too late now. Hopefully, I'll be wiser the next time.

Reply   |   Comment by JonE  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

JonE, you can still have a try now, perhaps, use the code you get to activate your new account. My friend just did it.

Reply   |   Comment by Elina  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Elina, I did manage to create an "FOCUSKY" account, with the original address I tried to get the code; go figure, but since it was rejecting my address I did not get a code and deleted the GOTD .zip and so I don't know the address to give it another go. I did research it, but came up empty.

Reply   |   Comment by JonE  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

JonE, what I mean is since it rejected my address during my original attempts. I will just have to wait till next time; at least I managed to create an "FOCUSKY" account; that's better than nothing. And I figure I will have more use for this program the next time around that I currently do.

Reply   |   Comment by JonE  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

JonE, maybe. I believe in the near future, you will find such giveaway on other site. Just wait.
