FLV Downloader is free, and does not request registration code.
You must have tried to update FLV to Video Converter.

Very nice FLV to Video Converter.
The others I have tried didn't work for me, this did

Pros:
- It works.
- Nice look.
- Does everything it says it does.
- comes with the FLV downloader
- easy to convert flv files to common video files.
- many settings to choose from (cropping, what kind of file..with or without audio)

Cons:
- A little slow at times.

The Flv Downloader function doesn't work for me any time I try it. Fails every time.

No matter...that's what mozilla's DownloadHelper's for lol. I'm just happy I got the Moyea pro version ;)

Both the FLV Downloader and the FLV Player are free, so updates are not a problem for those (and a free FLV Binder is coming). The FLV Downloader supports both IE and FireFox.

To all the people mentioning FLV players--the included FLV Downloader has a FLV Player which you can detach, resize/maximize, associate with FLV files, etc.

To everyone experiencing problems with the FLV Downloader--if you check their forum, you'll see that they are aware of the problem and expect to have a fixed version available next week.

Has anybody encountered the
"Connecting Fails(Forbidden), Retry(#)..." (with the # being 1 to 10)?

I apparently can't download the youtube video's, and thus not use the rest of the program. The online help does not give any clue on how to solve this problem. Anybody here?

#39, 41, 54 (same person), if you weren't using suckware browsers, you wouldn't be having all those problems. With the default settings, the included FLV Downloader automatically downloads the FLV videos when you play them in IE 7; no other plug-ins required (and yes, it works fine on YouTube). Both the Downloader and the Video Converter are swift, efficient, and easy to use (except, apparently, for Opera users).

Very happy with this freebie GAOTD....and after all the shit heaped on you lately i'll give this a definate thumbsup =) Even remembered to activate 1st, lol.

I used the Moyea free version a lot 4 youtube downloads and this runs so sweet, just as good as the trial. I was a bit wary when it had to uninstall the free prog 1st, but install ran perfectly. AND no watermark...

woohoo :D

Hey GAOTD...
I installed the software earlier, used it, worked fine, I however needed to system restore because of a virus. When I try to reinstall, I get "Fatal Error Key Not Valid!" Error. I don't know if this is my side, or server side, but please fix it!

Thanks
Dominic

#46 and 54: If getting the FLV video in the first place is a problem then try using http://keepvid.com. You enter the URL of the video on You Tube or most any other place and KeepVid then gives you a new link to download it. Then you just add .flv to the file name and it is then an FLV file. I would guess then you could use this current Giveaway to convert the FLV. I am still downloading it so don't know about that final part. :-)

What's wrong #46 is that youtube (and loads of others) don't like you taking their videos. Work around it using the advice I repeat:

Grabbing FLVs (from youtube and countless others) is easy if you use a decent browser and install some plugins. Personally I recommend http://www.opera.com/ with the http://widgets.opera.com/widget/5958 tho’ Firefox is also good - just don’t use IE7 - it’s bloated, hard to configure, and the least secure of any browser.

Worked as advertised, simple and easy to use. Thanks GAOTD! Won't get much usage out of it though as most videos I encounter aren't in FLV format. I'd like to see their SWF to Video Converter on your site soon, that would be worth trying more so than the FLV Converter. I'm just hesitant to pay the full $50 or $80 for a piece of software I'd only use occasionally. Less than $30 would be more reasonable for me.

The size of the output file depends on the bitrate you choose for the video and audio streams. The higher that value is, the better the quality you achieve. Just experience with different bitrates and choose the one that suit your needs. Keep in mind that AVI is not a format but a container and the output quality of your file will depend on the codec you choose to encode it with: ome codecs achieve a better quality at lower bitrates than others.

AWESOME! This is exactly what I was looking for!

Let's see how the program is:
-Very Clean Interface
-Extra Features (Watermarking, cropping, etc etc.)
-Great output quality
-Timing is right

I don't know what I can say wrong about this program. Everything it does is done correctly. It's too bad that it's flv downloader cannot download from Youtube, but I won't let that stop me in giving this program a 10/10.

*If you do need to download videos from Youtube, just get the Firefox add-on titled "Video Downloader"

Thank you! This is excellent software: just what I need. It converted 83MB of FLV files (youtube rips) to 1/4GB of high-quality WMV files. Very good. Can't complain about the conversion options or conversion time either.

At £20 though, maybe it's not worth that much, a tenner maybe?

Nice little utility!

Registration and install straight forward.
Easy to use - intuitive and reasonable help file. I particularly like the descriptions of the file formats in the help file.

Converted a 4 MB FLV to WMV perfectly (11 MB output)

Does what it says on the box!

Thanks GOTD

A nice piece of software - sure most computer literate can play Flash in many players but this is useful for converting videos for people who don't know what a driver is.

to #33 if you want to convert your video TO flv for free you can use riva encoder.

As for converting to swf, I don't know but due to the frame number limitation it's not really interesting anyway.

Re #25 flv will always be a lot smaller than mpg's and avi's. Normally avi's will be the largest. This software gives very good results for mpg.
Re #33 Use http://media-convert.com/ all online, no installing, but bad results converting FROM flv to mpg. This program is good.

OK just installed this under Vista Premium, following readme.txt instructions to the letter, setup.exe hung towards the end requiring a hard shut down to get out of it. Vista then had to do a file system integrigty check and repair indicies etc and revert system to prior state to the install attempt. Second attempt was performed using Run as Administrator context menu option and setup went smoothly with the freeware downloader option selected, no desktop icons and quicklaunch bar icon enabled.

When setup finished no new QuickLaunch icons are visible so it apears to have placed them in the wrong place for vista.

If we go to http://www.flash-video-mx.com/ on the right hand side where the announcments are it states that 1.17 is the current release of this software and links to http://www.flash-video-mx.com/flv_to_video_web/new/

That says the same. The version we have been given reports:
1.18.2.16
which apears to be an unrelreased version if this is a beta version and we are earning our free "gift" by beta testing it for Moyea we should be informed so we can protect our systems from potential bugs in the software and so these bugs do NOT reflect badly on the final "stable" release which apparently we will not have earned by putting our systems integrity at risk in beta testing for them.

at the URL http://www.flash-video-mx.com/giveaway/update.html

It states:
"If you go to download from our booth at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/, you could get the registered version of Moyea FLV to Video Converter Pro for free.
If have obtained this free Converter, you can get the latest updating as well as the technical support from our Customer Service Center at a quite low price. Please send e-mail to sales@flash-video-mx.com
with no mention of version numbers and if there is a stable release version that is a true update of this anyway ie 1.18 or 1.19 stable as opposed to a version number lots of sub numbers to it like the current giveaway.

(I am not adverse to being an informed beta or alpha tester, that is part of my official job-description, but I am adverse to being given alpha/beta software in the guise of a proper extended trial of a registered stable product)

Alpha/Beta testers have to be able to protect their systems, it is unfair to give alpha/beta pre-release versions to novices, which some of those who visit here are! They cannot be prepared for the problems they are likely to encounter running potentially unstable pre-release software and need to be warned off such giveaways by the GAOTD team and the developers of the days offering.

#2 BBC is an internationaly registered trademark of the British Broadcasting Corporation you have no right to copyright or declare it registerd for titling your personal opinions on a software product as it at first look gives the impression that a legitimate professional entity that is part of the British Broadcasting Corporation has done an official review which is blatently misleading even if you later explain your new meaning to the hjacked trademark "BBC".
