I put the code in from the email then read what to do next in the readme file and it says go to the website below and it will send a verification code but it sent me a license key. I don't see where to put that in at.

I downloaded it and got the code in email, but its only for 5gb. I read in the description you get 15. Wouldn't that be 20 gb altogether?

Weird advertising:

- "stop wasting your time on zipping" - nonsense, zipping reduces the file-size so the upload is faster.
- "Want to transfer a single 10TB file? Just press the START button" - nonsense, this would take months to upload, so don't even try.

There are many well-known free or freemium services without false advertisement.
For example: Onionshare, WeTransfer, FileTransfer.io, SendGB.com and more.

I think this program has potential. It is a lot of work to go through for that. Also, it is difficult to tell from their website what their regular pricing really is. It would be nice if they were clear about that. The slider pricer they have is apparently pricing in a one time discount.
I want to know what things cost before I go through all the hassle of registration, learning, etc. I think they should allow smaller file xfs for free. Personally, for my amount of usage, I will use free programs instead.

FileWhopper is somewhat similar to the now discontinued Firefox Send, allowing you to send files of pretty much any size to someone else. The files you upload are stored in the cloud until someone downloads them, up to 14 days. Pricing is pay as you go, similar to cell phone plans where fees are based on the amount of data downloaded -- in this case you get a quote, based on the amount of data [i.e. size of the file] and pay before uploading. The giveaway is a coupon good for 15GB worth of file uploads.

Why not just use Teracopy, it does it all and is free. I have been using it for quite awhile and tranfers very large files quite quickly.

It's much easier to use a 1 or 2 TB external drive.

So it seems the coupon is for a one-time transfer of 15 GB which must be used before 28 Jan 2021 ?

Jami, Tox, already have file transfer built-in.
Why wouldn't someone use the same program for file transfer that he/she uses for message transfer?
What or who is this service for? File hosting would be ok, but paying or creating a new account for file transfer? It baffles my mind.

* Jami, Tox, "insert your favorite messaging protocol here"
the part in quote was cut off because i used the wrong brackets

Anonymous, generally speaking messaging protocols file transfer protocols do not handle breaks in transmission and resumes well if at all so transfer of large files in the order of tens or more Gigabytes is not practical as it requires 100% reliable TCP/IP or UDP connections which are rare in domestic broadband connections as well as both sender and recipient must be present at same time to send and receive simultaneously and monitor and maintain the connection and transfer and restart it if necesary as many times as it takes... Similar services exist with onedrive or google drive or drop box where you the source of the file upload it to your cloud storage of choice then you select the file on your cloud drive and select share it and it generates a link to share with the recipient for them to download it from the cloud drive at thier convenience with resume support. *probably* the difference would be this would be a delete on succesful transfer service and not cloud storage with a link sharing facility.

its a bit tricky... do not activate it using the code they give in your email. Instead use the coupon code that you receive after you go to their website and register for the giveaway.

I have created a new account on Filewhopper and verified the account. But there is no option to enter the key to get 10GB storage. Please assist me on this.

Sam, Did you download the file from here to follow the instructions?

Reply   |   Comment by PaulF  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-5)

Sam, It sounds like you don't use the coupon code until you are actually transferring a file. Then it will tell you how much it costs, and when you enter the code it will reduce the price to free if the file is less than 15GB. What is not clear is if the 15GB is a one time use, or if you can instead transfer say three 5 jGB files instead.
