i can not get it to install on my windows 10 laptop. follow the directions to click on exe, then the little message box shows to where to go to register it, but the program never opens to install it. nor can i find it on my laptop. it happens with almost all of your programs now. tried getting it through the site, but it won't take the registration code they sent me.

Hi, I had the old version of this installed and it worked great. I changed to this version and I keep getting:
"D:\My Documents
File "D:\My Documents" doesn't exist.
Make sure you've specified the correct file name."
Any ideas? I'm using Windows 10/ 64 bit
It also no longer shows up when I right click a file, I have to go through the actual program.

Downloaded twice, was corrupted each time. Its a shame as it looks useful, guess I'll never know.

I'm not going to download or try this; to me the requested price of today's offering is way too much when there are other programs, of its type that do the same thing for "FREE" or for much less.
My personal favorite, which I've mentioned before, is "FolderMagic 2", by "Cloudeight" which you can get here: http://foldermagic.com, which is not totally free, has a 15 day trial, but still works after the trial is over, but only cost a whopping "ten dollars". "FolderMagic 2" is a great program which I highly recommend. Yes, you can still use it after the trial is over; the main "icon" files are located in "Application Data/App Data" and you can add folders and icons of your own. It works on all version of Windows OS. This is one developer/vendor that deserves your support; these are great people and do way more than just program development. What have you got to loose by checking them out? There is a function to add icons without messing with "AppData". Adding folders and icons inside "AppData" is just my preferred method.
There are "Icon" sites where you can download you own icons and add them to programs like "FolderMagic". A couple of my favorites are "Softicons": http://www.softicons.com & "Icons - Land": http://www.icons-land.com, just to name a couple, but there are many more, both "FREE" and "PAID".
A couple "FREE" folder icon programs that I've used in the past, but are no longer developed or supported, but still work, are "Rainbow Folders": http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhancements/Other-Desktop-Enhancements/Rainbow-Folders.shtml (supposed to work on all Windows OS) and "Folder iChanger": http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhancements/Icons-Related/Folder-iChanger.shtml (Windows XP, VISTA 32/64, 7 - 32/64, 2003 & 2008) the only drawback and a deal breaker for some is that it requires (.NET Framework 4). I don't know I never had a problem with Framework.

I wonder - does the dye work only with a running program or just dye the icon and then you do not need to program it?

Can you put a picture/photo within a colored folder? I see some of them have pictures of arrows, clocks, etc.

...More accurately, it says "Setup files are corrupted, try downloading again".

Tried multiple downloads, each one says "downloaded files are corrupted, try downloading again".

Does this program just ICON folders or can you change the color of the icon from the regular beige to something like RED OR BLUE?
Thanks for your time!

I cannot mark a file as it gives an error message, no images in icon file?????

This program colors files only and not folders. No where to add notes/progress? File color is all it does that I can see. It is more of a bare bones single purpose utility than a software program: almost featureless. I would not pay 5 bucks for it. Maybe some more hoops can be added to make users jump through to really piss them off.

Nice program. But it looks like it's the same version, 1.0.1, that was a giveaway last year. The only thing I don't like about it is when you change the color of a file or icon, it changes the date. I wish it would allow me to keep the original date of the file. Yes, I know, I can "undo" the color coding and return to the original date, but as I have multiple versions of multitrack recordings done with Sonar of different versions of the same song, having the ORIGINAL date would make things much easier to track. I wrote to them a couple of weeks ago when they were offering a NEW version of this program via email and asked them that question, but they never responded to my request.( IF they have a new version of the program, why are they offering the same version they offered last year?)

I would love to try this out but when I run setup it Windows askes (as always) if I want to allow this program to make changes to my computer. I respond with 'Yes' then I get the program is activated message, it opens the website and that's it. I don't find any sign of Filemarker anywhere on my computer. Is it me or is the installer not working properly?

Bruce, I've been getting the same thing a lot lately too. Using Windows 7 and IE.
Especially with games.
The only thing I found that could help (and it might just be coincidence) was to exit Kerish Doctor.
It's quite hard to see Kerish Doctor - which is a good program btw - I have to open it from my desktop icon, then close it, then right click on its icon from the little arrow on the bottom right corner of my screen near the clock and clicking on shutdown Kerish Doctor.
At least this worked last time I loaded something. Turning my firewall off and disabling my antivirus didn't work at all.

Try reinstalling, Bruce! Good luck! Make sure you choose "Creare a desktop icon" when you're installing.

Thanks for your suggestions. Still no success though. I don't have Kirish Dr active. It is on my computer but I've set it to manually load (disabled in startup routines). I also tried disabling my anti-virus (Avast) while installing. No success. I just tried restarting, still no luck. I didn't difine my environment when posting. I'm running current Windows 10, Current Firefox. That shouldn't make a difference but one never knows with software.
Re: Reinstaling, I don't even get to "Create a Desktop Icon" option. Once I click Windows' "allow program to make changes" I get no more interaction except the GOTD activation message and Firefox opening to the GOTD "What Next" page. So the top end process (ie, the GOTD install part, must think the FileMarker installer ran and exited. I could probably set up something to log the instlation process but sadly that would take more time than I can dedicate to this. This appeaently is local issue that no one else is having so I can't blame it on FileMarker.

Hi Responders: I found a workaround. I went directly to the FileMarker site and downloaded FileMarkerPro directly from them. I then used the License Code provided by the GOTD provided link and I'm up and running with a licensed product. Thank you all for your comments. Hopefully this will help someone else. :)

Bruce, For me when this happens my firewall is blocking the install and not telling me.

ARGGGGG, Hold that thought. While it installed correctly and reported that the registration key was successful when I restarted FileMarkerPro it said it wasn't registered. Oh well, I have 30 days to try it. If it makes a positive difference in my life I'll buy it. Or maybe there's an Open Source equivalent, or for that matter, I could probably write one but why bother if this is decent.

Don't post this last part. The work around did work. I just didn't download the correct version doing the workaround

Bruce, I had the same problem with GOTD installations when I had AVG Antivirus installed on my PC. I would extract the contents of the .Zip file I downloaded from GOTD and run the Setup.exe. The message telling me that the application had been installed successfully would appear almost immediately, but there would be no trace of that program anywhere on my system.
My understanding is that either the software publisher or GOTD modifies the original installer for the program being offered and places it into the .Zip file that you download from GOTD. When you unzip the file's contents and run GOTD's install "Wrapper" (Setup.exe), it launches the software manufacturer's original installer, and then shows the "Successfully Installed" message and usually information on how to register the program, and a few other related tasks.
I was able to gather from my own experience and posts from other GOTD users that some security apps block the execution of the GOTD's installer application (Setup.exe), probably because it triggers the installation of another application without a separate, specific request by the user, which is an action that some forms of malware might also attempt.
What I had to do was temporarily disable AVG's real-time protection, run the install, then quickly turn the real-time scanner back on. It wasn't a pretty fix, but it worked, and I was happy to see that NONE of the files installed through GOTD ever got flagged as malicious during the scans I ran after the install. Since I switched to Norton Security Suite, I haven't had any problems installing GOTD apps.
I hope this helps.

Bruce, mines doing the same thing! no idea what to do either.

Bruce, I followed your advice, but it still insists on asking me to insert the registration code every time I open it. VERY frustrating! But thanks for trying!

It's almost certainly your antivirus/antimalware. Kaspersky for example doesn't like GOTD wrapper. The decrypted installer file gets deleted.

Hi M. Aronson,
I actually had the same thing after I did the workaround the first time. Then something (don't remember what) led me to think I'd downloaded the wrong package so I went back and downloaded another (it downloaded as FileMarker.NET_Pro.zip) and that one did the trick. Once the SN was put in it stayed. Good luck. BTW, I disabled the AVG anti-virus prior to trying all this and it didn't help. I wasn't fond of AVG anyway, it came on this puter when I bought it. I've long been a fan of Bitdefender and have since replaced AVG with Bitdefender. I don't know if that would have made a difference or not but I did try with it disabled so...

It's Pro version or not? I get this email after registration:
"This version of FileMarker.NET is for HOME and personal use only. If you need FileMarker.NET for office you have to buy Pro license.
This license is for one user and/or for one computer."

It appears that this software will be able to mark folders as well. If not, will Arctic Line software be offering their FOLDER MARKER software here anytime soon?

Would such a marked file also have a different icon inside another file explorer, e.g. Total Commander? Or only inside the Windows Explorer?

Yes, I can see the changed icons in FreeCommander.
