I believe the previous comments are irrelevant since I have never seen an instance where this program actually worked. I have tried it multiple times with multiple "giveaways" and downloads even receiving a direct download from the vendor. Setting everything up is easy but nothing actually "uploads" to the folders and when trying to upload via the program settings it crashes the program, although I have deduced how to get it to run again by deleting all the files in the "Public" folders for the program.

So this is otherwise known as 1AVShare, according to the screenshots on the product's home page?
If so, does this include the sharing of a live camera video stream or on-screen activity as evidenced in those pictures, or was that a mistake since (another product) "1AVCenter includes the product File Sharing Pro with all of its features" is otherwise shown among the screenshot text?
Is there a Mac download available for today, or can we use the product's homepage download for that?
Also, I would appreciate opinion on the following:
As long as File Sharing Pro webserver is not running, is there still a risk of being hacked, despite not being professional managed and patched on a daily basis. I.E., will limiting "exposure time" -- to only that required for known visitors to "do their business" and upload/download files -- be sufficient to likewise limit drawing attention to the presence of a webserver? I do see that visitors can be restricted via the "Ability to assign the pages a user is allowed to visit" which sounds nice.

HMarx, I've not seen the software, but it might run as a service and just 'block access' if 'turned off' rather than shut down. If so, then you're still open and connected, ready to be exploited.
I've seen an old Win 95 box hacked within thirty minutes of connecting it to the Internet so 'exposure time' means nothing - if it'll respond to a ping, it will be found.
Ability to assign pages to a known user is probably meaningless. Good for the casual user, but unless it has decent password/encryption/two-factor authorisation, then you may as well consider the files in the public domain and someone else will have access to them. DOn't use this for confidential or sensitive information.

Just a note that this turns your PC into a webserver, and therefore your whole PC is open to anyone on the Internet to download. People will probably say, 'its safe' and 'protection', but if banks can get hacked, Facebook can lose data and companies lose their data on a near-daily basis, you can bet there is a backdoor to this, or send it a malicious request and it'll crack like a pack of cards. Apache and Nginx are the main webservers, and regularly come out with updates and patches as people find ways to break them.
Install this with caution. There are dedicated file sharing services out there (many of them free, like WeTransfer) which will keep your PC where it belongs, on the inside of the Internet.

Nasuno, A virtualbox is no 'sandbox' for hackers. Its entirely possible to 'tunnel through' the virtualbox to get access to the real computer. This scared me too when I saw it.
Guess you have to know that hackers would hack your Grandmas pacemaker if they could gain access to it.

So are you saying that it's possible that running this in a "sandbox" (vs. a "virtualbox") would/should provide (some) protection if the sandbox is configured correctly, to at least stop/limit any access and possible corruption to the baseline/everyday host OS and files?
(Of course I realize that, over time, eventually everything becomes hackable it seems; but I'm refering to everyday hacker attacks vs. some high-stakes state-sponsored team effort to steal, say, nuclear secrets.)

HMarx, there are no nuclear secrets (keep that in mind), the 3 letter agencies are after us, to find what we are doing and they are the expert hackers, there is nothing you and I can do to stop a back door hack, they have the means to do that without ever we even get suspected that a hack is going on. Keep everything on a USB drive and never ever share anything online. Should a need arises to share a file, document or other valuable info, send the document in an encrypted vault with the master password(s) for every folder and or document dictated on a phone. There is no other alternative to share valuable info.

HMarx, I'm saying a virtualbox is no protection for the real OS/computer. Don't be under the illusion that just because it is being the host that it can't be accessed via the guest PC. It may not happen and you may be entirely safe, but just know that threat is there.
Similar to malware, etc. You can run malware in a guest OS and it can get onto the host OS.

I think Chris is referring to a air-gapped system when he said Sandbox. Air-gapped system means completely isolated from internet and other unsecure networks

Pradip, I just meant a throwaway 'disposable' PC that you don't mind if it got hacked, damaged or broken. While I gave concerns this software could open your PC to the nasties of the Internet, Nasuno was under the impression because it was on a virtual machine, this was safer. While it offers more protection, I was just clarifying that the host PC is still under threat.
Appreciate what you say about air-gapped systems, etc, but as this is file-sharing software, that wouldn't work on such a system. Apologies if I got terminology wrong by mentioning 'sandbox' to imply that.
