Just started to play with it, figured I'd do the update, and then the software was terminated. Pretty bad company to do that. Granted it was free, but they seem like the kind of company that would rip you off if given the chance. No thanks.

I can not understand the comments blaming this soft for enabling to download pics from adult sites. For the program to be versatile it needs to download all kinds of pics, including porn.Might come as a surprise to you,but there are a lot of guys out there, looking for exactly this kind of stuff. And they are the majority, most probably.

Fabulous software. I set the parameters for the pictures I wanted and had so many downloads, I couldn't keep up with them all. Nice job on this. Ive used others that despite the setting, only returned tiny thumbnails. Really like this one!!

This is a useful program but it doesn't violate any copyright laws. Any website you visit will download all of the images on a page into the temporary internet files folder on your computer. You can't put up a web page that doesn't allow your images to download into a person's computer or else we would all be looking at broken links.
So the ignorance abounding in these comments is amazing. Further, I wouldn't have even noticed the erotica except that numerous people who posted here mentioned it. So what? There is erotica all over the Internet. Search google on the word of your choice and you can have all you want.
The purpose of GAOTD is obviously to allow a user group to evaluate software's usefulness and functionality while providing the user with free tools. Their rules should be set up to disallow stupidity.

note to 'merril' and similar profit-mart affiliate marketing sales pr types: it's not possible for someone to view any web content without downloading it.
note to bandwidth-limited site 'owners': I've occasionally read of this concern before since 'forever'. you can probably find and edit some kind of script or server config to limit single user downloads. else, get a better host. google some of those 'webmaster' forums for info.

Purely for research, I checked out the "problem" categories.

If there is anything actually illegal (depending on juristiction), couldn't find it. It can USE a password but doesn't hack them - and password protected downloading is scrappily supported among a vast sweep of download programs, so it IS a feature.

The link database, though, means this has to be 18-rated, as there are many links which I'm sure GAOTD would not allow to be posted in the forum.

Sweet. I got the darn thing downloading all sorts of wallpaper while I am doing the dishes. The search function allows you to detail the minimum/maximum width and height so I just get the right size pics all of da time. Hats off to Harry! I like it. Also use it to get my jigsaw puzzle pics. Just delete the garbage and u'll be smellin like a rose.

Amazing. You people are ridiculous.
This does NOT hack passwork protected sites.
Like Download Accelerator and other programs like it, this program needs YOU to enter YOUR password into the program so that it can download whole galleries from pic hosting sites/forums that require you to Sign In with a Password to view and download galleries.
Some programs also need you to tell them the "path" to your computers virus scanning program so your downloads will also be scanned while the downloading program does its job.
This is AUTOMATION.
So, when you leave your computer a program like todays offering simply works on it's own downloading complete galleries for you.
Saving you from clicking on, then right-clicking and choosing "Save As..." for EACH individual image in a web gallery.
TRY the program BEFORE posting.

Wow, I'm more astonished than usual by the asinine, fascist comments today. Technology is not inherently illegal or immoral, you have a choice in how you use it. For those of you too young to know, there used to be these things called public pay telephones. You put money into them, and placed a call. In one jurisdiction, the government decided that too many criminals were using them, and outlawed them. I have a better idea. Studies show that 100% of criminals breathe. Let's outlaw breathing, and eliminate all crime.

I'm sick of the brain-dead fascists here spouting their garbage about their warped and hypocritical views on morality and the law, and their pea-brained ideas about how they think particular software offerings here work, and how they have the right to tell the rest of us which products we can use and in what fashion.

First, downloading anything other than things explicitly prohibited by law, such as kiddie porn, is neither illegal nor immoral, nor is it intellectual property theft. Your computer downloads every image that you view online, it simply doesn't bother to keep them unless you tell it to.

Publishing images in any form is covered by copyright laws, viewing and downloading them is not.

Just because this program has the ability to download all the images from a website doesn't mean that most people are going to use it in that fashion. Extreme Picture Finder is more versatile than NeoDownloader, having numerous options to restrict exactly which images are downloaded, and how deep and wide to search. For example, you can easily restrict it to images with particular dimensions on a particular web page.

Even occasional selective mass downloads aren't inherently unethical. I've downloaded most of a couple of websites which were going belly-up. The Internet Archive isn't a reliable source for all material, since it doesn't archive all content, it can be excluded, and its entries can be retroactively deleted. The Internet Archive isn't breaking any laws by downloading and storing most of the Internet. Google isn't breaking any laws by downloading and storing most text and image thumbnails on the Internet.

Just because Extreme Picture Finder has the ability to find and download material which you find objectionable has no bearing on its utility. Simply don't download images which you don't want to see. Do you avoid using Google because it can find pornographic images and descriptions? You can tell it not to display the images that it knows are pornographic, but the ability to display those results is still there.

Image formats are not executable. A website could rename an executable to .jpg, but Windows won't execute it. Your anti-virus software scans all downloads (unless you don't have anti-virus software, or have turned off realtime file scanning), and will scan image files, even though they aren't executable. It's neither necessary nor desirable for Extreme Picture Finder to include anti-virus scanning.

There seems to be a majority voice on the lack of appropriateness of the offered program. I vote with the majority on the issue - not appropriate. Unfettered "adult" content, possible piracy issues, and wasted bandwidth top the list.

Possibly a good idea at the heart of such a program but perverted in its activation. A program with limited appeal - especially in this market.

OK, first, not sure how it downloaded pictures from the "members" or password protected part of a site as someone posted - I specifically tested this on now, lets see, 4 sites that have password protected sections, and it only downloaded the previews or photos from the free part, and didn't get into the part of the site that was protected. I don't believe the software is sophisticated enough to hack into a PW protected page.

And again - it would be a lot better if the thumbnails worked properly.

This is one of those applications I thought would be interesting to check out. I read the comments and was immediately concerned about what someone said about this being able to download password protected imagery. So I typed in two searches for two of my favourite wallpaper sites (not needing the urls, but just the names) who give away some of their older images away for free; but the majority are paid for and are not cheap (you can buy them in various resolutions).

I went for a cat nap and on checking a few hours later was shocked to find that I had every one of the images on offer before me on my computer, not just one of each, but all the different resolutions that are available. I am an honest person, so will be deleting the ones I didn't pay for.

This program ‘must’ be breaking some sort of legislation being able to break through protection as though it wasn't there. It is very concerning.

Is it legal, or is the onus placed on the user to be honest and trustworthy? I doubt it a lot would be though.

I'll admit the comments made me very curious to see what it will do.

And I'd also love to point out: the soft is enabling criminal activities only as long as the user does them.
Some crack through Internet Explorer digital code manipulations. Should manufacturers stop producing hardware that uses code, and if so, how? :P

For me it seems a great idea for people who use/ want to use pics.
And, if you find one copyrighted and pay for it isn't that great for the artist?
And, if you do this google like search without the popups and websites with bad code what is the problem?
And if you preview before downloading all then there is no need to delete :) issue solved.

I did find a disadvantage with the soft; that it cannot be done online; and I have yet another program for a google like search. But it looks very professional so I will test it awhile to see if it is worth keeping.

I say thank you for the trial. :)

#64 What you are stealing is valuable bandwidth others need pay for. As a website owner myself I know only too well how rapidly that can add. If you load a 1000 pics from my site to next throw by far most away that costs me money. The pics as such you are welcome to, when not randomly loading yes. The fact you load everything to find a few pics you like means you make me pay for your convience. And yes that to me constitutes to stealing...

It doesn't matter how many times people post about reading the readme file, Activating properly, using common sense etc...Some people just will NEVER Get it. Makes one wonder what some of you people even have a computer for since you obviously don't have the brain cells one requires for such a nifty machine. Simple common sense eludes you. ::rolls eyes::

It's full version, it's legal. It DOESN'T steal anything. It only takes from protected sites when you type in YOUR NAME AND PASSWORD. Why do you all just click click click and then start posting and complaining asap when you have problems that are created BY YOU? Notice there are plently of INTELLIGENT people that are NOT having any problems with the software, whatsoever. THINK PEOPLE!!

Every day that I come here and read this load of crap that you people post and see how impatient and unintelligent most of you are, makes me realize just how doomed this planet is. SCARY!

Very much agreed with #35 Hempman and #44 and #60 Merril. As said in #60, "It does not matter whether the files being taken are passworded or not, Intellectual Property laws are such that you simply cannot steal other people’s files ..."

I am glad it is a discussion about intellectual property now. Only about a week ago here was another program offered, also created for stealing other peoples images ...

#44 Merril - "if anyone has their own images that they would like to preserve from theft or at least use I offer a bespoke watermarking service and can also provide the script to stop images etc from being taken in any way" ... I am very much afraid it helps not too much because everything one can see on his computer screen theoretically can be taken away. Because of that, besides of technical solutions as watermarking it would be interesting to have some solutions allowing search function to find out, if my pictures have been stolen and if yes, then by whom. (Yes, I know there is such kind of service offered for professionals, but it is too expensive for amateur photographers). It seems to me, it should be not too complicated to write a software, using EXIF information from photos as author's name. May be companies who are writing software for stealing other peoples work will in a future write software to find out if my work has been stolen?!

#48 writes: "Those URLs are not actually in the program. You see, they are located on our server and Extreme Picture Finder simply reads the list of categories and URLs from our server and shows it to you." This means there IS a DIRECT link between the menu of your program Tools/explore online project database/Erotic/Rape and criminal material that can be found op\n the internet. This also means you provide a hard-coded link via your program installed on the PC's of your customers to pictures of criminal activities. I am not a lawyer, but to me this is the same as directly storing criminal links on my computer. Giveaway of the Day should seriously reconsider their cooperation with your firm. I have just used Revo Uninstaller to wipe this program from my computer. I certainly hope GAOTD will be in a position to provide a version of your program in the near future without these criminal links.

#35 and others: the fact that you can download from protected sites does NOT mean you are stealing. When you actually install this program, you will see you will have to provide your user name and password in order to download from protected sites. So this program only facilitates to to download what you are entitled to, nothing more, nothing less. It just saves you the trouble of copying files you may access from e.g. eSnips one single file at the time.

Here's a great freeware Web image finder that displays a slide show of found pictures and optionally saves them to an integrated folder that can be saved as is or edited--NetVue Image Finder. Download at: www.snapfiles.com/screenshots/netvue.htm as well as several other sites.

#46 and #47 The implication is indeed that it accesses password protected sites - the whole nature of the program is that you type in for what you are looking and the program finds images etc that you would never otherwise have come across - if they were your own passwords then there would be no point in stating as a feature that you could access them.

Regardless of the answer however, passworded or non-passworded access, this program is entirely illegal to use. Many people do not password their files because either they are part of their site or simply because the taking of them would be theft. It does not matter whether the files being taken are passworded or not, Intellectual Property laws are such that you simply cannot steal other people's files in this manner. It is therefore not hysteria or paranoia but recognition that use of this program constitutes breaking the law.

Um, this isn't illegal. From the help file itself: "If the starting address is protected by the password, you must check this box and specify the username and password in corresponding fields. For the password-protected sites with HTML forms authentication set the Manual login box. In this case Extreme Picture Finder will open a browser window and let you login into the site manually."

OK, I hope someone is here from the company that makes this program - I'd pay for it if the thumbnail problem wasn't there. Once I scroll down to about halfway down on the thumbnail viewer, it starts using the same image for all the images. I can download image and see the real image when downloaded, but it's pretty crippled to not being be able to browse all of the thumbs.

It has something to do with the thumbs cache or whatever, because if I use something like ACDSee to browse the downloaded thumbs, they're fine - the program just can't display them properly.

I frequently download images for my powerpoint presentations. Many a times it can be fairly irritating to see 20 images on yahoo or google, then wait for next page to upload and so on. I tried the same search on this program and I could see many hundreds of thumbnails in a blink of an eye. The same picture it took me almost an hour to find last week was glaring at me in 7 seconds. This program is an absolute keeper for me. If you are worried about copyright, just don't use the protected images rather than getting into all sorts of knots over it. It does donload stuff to your drive, but in a neat folder, which you can erase after deciding which image you want.

Notwithstanding the potential usefulness of this software offering, I never got far enough to evaluate it after I discovered the pre-downloaded data bases, especially the porno websites included in the offering THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. GOTD team has really hit a new low here, and THEY are responsible for this offering on their site. In addition, the pre-downloads are all suspect due to their ability to get stored in the hard drive--who knows what else is in these pre-downloads? Bad, Bad, no excuse guys. Shame on all of you. So now tell everyone how to delete the pre- files. Or better yet, everyone with this issue, uninstall the program and do not give the software developers the courtesy of your review on this product. So, GOTD, we're waiting for your reply--what's your excuse here for the porno downloads and the potential virus/spyware?

Additional problem I'm seeing - after downloading a full set of thumbs, and then trying to browse down through them, every time, about 2/3 down I will get a situation where every thumbnail from there down is the same one (the picture shown, not the actual thumbnail) - this requires a refresh to fix, which takes you all the way back to the top.

From Exisoftware concerning deletion of included URL(s):

Those URLs are not actually in the program... You see, they are
located on our server and Extreme Picture Finder simply reads the list
of categories and URLs from our server and shows it to you... So there
is no way now to delete any URL or category.

But due to many user requests we plan to add a feature to "hide"
certain categories in the next version.

Best regards,

Not sure about the comments here about downloading password protected stuff - tested this just to see if it is true, entered a url with a members section, all it got was the thumbs that were previews, nothing from the actual password protected areas.

Are you sure or just making assumptions on the password protected part of the comments?

As a website builder and designer of graphics I feel particularly strongly about this application.

The encouragement of downloading images, videos and mp3 files is frankly abhorrent and copyright violation is a big enough problem as it is.

The developers' description of the program makes it sound all so legal and yet nothing could be further from the truth - this is an underhand program designed for theft and I am aghast that it is being offered on this site.

The repercussions of taking and using someone else's images, videos or music can be extreme and people WILL take legal action (this is becoming more and more popular) if they are used on a site of your own without permission.

The problems caused recently to the music industry with applications like Limewire now seriously under threat only need to show you the problem that is being caused by the taking of others' intellectual property. I encourage you to stay away from this program - it is just NOT legal. As for those who have already downloaded and are happy with the "built-in" features, I see they did not include a "built-in" anti-virus - the implications of this should be apparent and I'd be very careful what you are blindly downloading with the program!

There seems to be no way to delete any of the included URLs namely the Erotic group. According to the help file all that is required is to select the unwanted URL(s) and hit delete. The delete key seems to be deactivated when doing this. If there is not a way to do this then the entire program will be removed.

Pointless app, unless you enjoy, waisting both your and the websites bandwith, breaking into protected sites, and filling up you HD with rubbish.

Your better off finding a single or set of image on the net, get permission from the author to use it, tell them the purpose of you project and how the image will be used.

Much better way to go then stealing an image and getting in trouble later on down the line.

I gave this a spin and found it to be very handy. I used it to do a search of a fairly obscure plant and it found a nice assortment of images - however it did find a significant number of images that had nothing to do with the plant and I imagine it grabbed the images that had the plant name somewhere in the text of the page.

Here's my wish list of features I would love to see added to it:

1. Ability to tag images found before downloading
2. Screen out duplicates prior to download
3. Option to put the image URL location into the EXIF data of the image. The log does show the URL but I'd like to be able to tie it directly to the image. Likewise add and EXIF viewer to the display tool.

This is a very promising research tool for hobbyists of all types.
