This is certainly not a promising looking piece of software. I have to admit that the games and software in the last week or so have been pretty disappointing. However the recent free copy of EverNote does make up for it for a while. Still a fun service. I can't resist free software.

#67 Heavy Water:

Like you, I too am fed up with "guttersnipes" and "adolescent" self abusers. Unlike you, I haven't seen them on this thread.

I know what you mean about reading a description though.

Anyway. I'm selling my car. It's yours on special offer today. It's very stylish and comfortable. And if you wish to drive it anywhere, the ignition key will start the engine and away you go.

Now how clear is that?

PS: the engine isn't included in the sale. It's $5,000 extra. But you won't mind, will you? I mean, you did read the wording first. . .

Please note this is directed to Heavy Water [poster #67] only.

1: do you think insulting us makes you any better than us, because I don’t personally think so, and regarding the band wagon I downloaded the program myself and checked it out myself before posting what I think of it.

2: Will run and runs do both mean the same thing but, it doesn’t not say that the module comes with it which is misleading.

3: It’s not about "right of free speech" it’s about false and misleading advertisement which has its own law. And to top this off the first amendment dose have its limitations.

4: GOTD is a great, although what it gives for downloads might not be. That is why they put a comment box, so every reader can get an idea about the program before they download it.

5: I thank the Giveaway project as well, and to show my thanks I promote them at my pc repair shop.

6: As for the comment you made "To those that can only flame others get a life." You are a hypocrite I think you should start searching for a life as well, because you’re exactly not practicing what you preach

7: Regarding your quote on "To those who don’t read the lines properly, please learn to read before you decide to write such drivel." We can read, maybe you should go take some lessons in marketing, and learning some advertisement laws wouldn’t hurt either.

So to end this letter that almost everyone is thinking, I hope after you read this you think twice about what you write, and I will gladly defend for everyone here.

"If you need to unprotect your file, Encryption Analyzer runs the required password recovery module."

The module is not included and the developers didn't guarantee it is, too, hence there is nothing to complain about how GOATD/the developer has lied to you when they haven't.
"This program delivers info about the type/vendor of the encryption!"

Sure it does, telling you the encryption type while you can't do anything... Passware's password-decrypting programs come as a pack anyway, which means whatever type of encryption you have, you still have to pay the fixed sum for the decryption module. So, is it still useful?
Heavy Water grouches about how others complain about this Giveaway beacuse they personally don't like it, and implied that he found a useful purpose for it. Unfortunately he conveniently forgot to include it in his whine, resulting in permanent tainting of the average intelligence level of his bloodline...
Most have conveniently ignored the fact that GOATD has released very useful programs before. If today's isn't useful, just state why and leave it as that. You are getting things for free and it doesn't make sense to scold the people who are giving you free stuff everyday. Moreover, GOATD simply releases programs offered by the developers for free. They aren't in the position to choose what to give because they are not paying a single cent to the developers at all! So relax!

Dont install on your computer.
Use the serial number provided and install on to a flash drive.
Then it is easy to remove.
The serial is sent during the activation setup.
Dont rate untill YOU CAN.

The program offers to find certain encrypted files, giving you some info about them. That's all it promises to do, folks. You don't have to use their recovery software. Once you know the encryption method, just use whatever you wish. It comes in a GUI version and a console version. It will run from a USB drive, simply by putting in the program password/key. Plus, I didn't find any of the "faults" mentioned earlier (at least not on my computer).

However, $195.00 for this for a home user is ridiculous! Might be worth it if your home is The White House. :)

Well, these kind of programs I can use. This one in particular NOT. Would be too expensive without GAOTD and way too expensive addin to make it do what you really need it to do. Maybe tomorrow's will be better. This software is better left forgotten like the passwords it can't properly deal with.

Yup I agree its mostly useless unless monitoring a company network for what employees are encrypting. But if we also get Passware's Password Recovery Kit then it becomes useful, but I doubt they will give that away since it would be the main reason they listed with GAOTD in the hope some people mist buy the recovery kit.

It seems that this application does what it says it does IN ITS WEBPAGE.

The thing is, i might be foolish but when i read here "Are you sure that you still remember passwords for your important files? Full system scan usually takes under an hour. If you need to unprotect your file, Encryption Analyzer runs the required password recovery module" i get the idea that it will actually recover the password i don't remember..

I easily give thumbs up to applications i don't need (like this one) cause i respect what GAOTD is doing. But with that description this one fully deserves a thumbs down.

This is just a piece of crap! It only searches for words in its "dictionary". I'm getting rid of it! It is also VERY slow(0 passwords checked per second) and can only recover passwords 2 characters long if you download and install Passware kit. Shredding.

This program is a piece of trash. It sucks so much that it costs $195 and is worse than my free program that is called Zip password recovery. This program is also slow. It does not go nearly as fast as Zip Password Recovery. This program tests passwords so slower than the other program even on the same CPU. Also, this program does not let you configure things. Overall, this program gets a rating of 0.000001/10

This program delivers info about the type/vendor of the encryption! and this WILL help you to look for and hopefully find a fitting de-cryption tool!!!

Quite a speech Heavy Water. Standing ovation to you. You must feel like having layed an egg ja? Enjoy. However, what you say is utter nonsense. ...runs the required password recovery module... Well, it does not. Not in this version anyways. Not before we buy. So where according to you is that clearly stated? Quite a 'Giveaway' that.

'To those that can only flame others, get a life.

Has arrogance/ignorance blinded you so much you fail to see the above applies to you yourself most of all?

Yes most of those commenting about this programs worth may be right; but it seems to me that many of you can’t read very well because it does say: and I quote

“If you need to unprotect your file, Encryption Analyzer runs the required password recovery module”.

Okay they could have added ‘will run’ instead of ‘runs’, but both mean the same.

The above clearly states, well at least it does to me, that it does run; however it doesn’t say it includes the required password module.

That means exactly as it says; Mr high and mighty comment number ….. Well lets just say the guy who was so bothered with his “constitutional right to free speech” so don’t go threatening our fantastic and worthy giveaway team. (Rock on you Guys And to Slava the lady…we’re not worthy, we’re not worthy)

Please most of you try and take some time to actually read what it says

Still I think the way most have posted leads me to believe you are a bunch of adolescent w*****s, who only seem to be able to complain and slag off what you personally don’t like, or to jump on the band wagon of freeloading guttersnipes.

By the by I won’t be downloading this as I don’t need it.

Thank you to Bladed Thoth and several others for their decent reviews of this software as well as those who posted freeware items.

And thank you to the Giveaway project, firstly for all the superb software programs you’ve given away. I missed many of them and hope to see many repeats, but if I don’t there’s always either freeware or my purse.

To those that can only flame others, get a life.

To those who don’t read the lines properly, please learn to read before you decide to write such drivel.

Damn, that feels good

I admit, at first I didnt understand that all I could do with it was find encrypted files. It did find some, but not all of them. After reading the previous comments, I tride the software our some more and it revealed to me that this is total junk! It isnt worth $10, let alone $195!!

For those people having trouble removing this software, just navigate to the installation folder (if you accepted the defaults it should be should be "C:\Program Files\Passware\Encryption Analyzer Pro\") and run the program:

un-EncryptionAnalyzerPro.exe

that you'll find there. It's a pity they didn't think to link this to either a start menu shortcut, or to add/remove programs, or even give the uninstaller a more MEANINGFUL name! But then again, considering what the program does (not!) do, I guess I shouldn't really be surprised.

Dear #13 Globi Chat:

I'm sure a lot (/not alot) of us have good ideas for you, but rather than have us take up GOTD space, why don't you share your e-Mail address so we can contact you directly. One idea, a simple program to create a webpage (HTML code) to display all the images in a directory, with appropriate attributes such as (actual or desired) width and height, plus selectable hspace, vspace, border, and such.

This could be very useful in creating personal photo pages, eBay listings, etc. Help?

>>>>>> #13: I’m looking for ideas that wouldn’t require a lot of overhead (e.g. small scale projects, nothing huge).
If anyone has any ideas, post them...be welcome change.

#46, Off topic but you struck a nerve--There is NO constitutional right to free speech other than governmental. What the amendment means is you can't be kept from handing out leaflets (what they used to do a couple hundred years ago) or standing in a park and telling people the government sucks.

You can't stand in the middle of Sears and tell people to go to Target. You can't stand up in a theater and yell "fire," and you can't walk out on the field at a sporting event and hold up a sign.

In other words, any business is free to exclude your comments and stop your actions (by calling the cops or having their security person carry you off or by deleting your comments).

Last quick example. If you were to come into my house and start talking about a subject you would be quickly arrested for committing a trespass. Violating someone's on-line property is really legally no different (at least in the USA; I won't speak for the rest of the world).

You are free to take your business elsewhere.

Well hello there!
Seems like today's Giveaway hasn't worked out, hm?
Well, I was about to download the software, before reading the comments. A lot of negatives have gone around today, and I'd like to offer a NEUTRAL
Today's Giveaway may have seemed horrible due to the false description, the huge rip-off, etc. But it is useful for 1 thing. Locating Password Protected files.

I didn't even think I had password protected files on my computer, but I do. They are PDFs. This encouraged me to find something to unlock pdfs. So in the end, the soft ware isn't totally junk, but it is mostly. I tried to be positive, but that's impossible for this software. Rip-off, on a free site. 2/10 for helping me find protected files.

One last thing, I checked the site, and this isn't the most expensive version of the program. Ouch.

I had been intending to download and install, but like #39 above, I feel that there are too many negatives in these posts to justify the waste of my time. Had this been complete, at least one of the comments would have said so. I didn't see one that showed complete use without additional downloads. Sorry GOTD, most of what you offer is at least interesting, if not useful. This doesn't seem to qualify on any front.

Like everyone else, I felt as if I was had on this program. GOTD is doing what it says, giving away free programs. It is not always responsible for the developer and one has to realize in some ways it can not turn developers down who can cry equal rights. The good news is, or bad depending on how one looks at it,the public evaluates these programs openly and it can be damaging to place a program here that is not up to par to the product. This is a powerful sight on the web as it has grown.
We WILL tell you what we think, how we liked it and where it failed, not only the forum but the world that watches. Post your programs wisely. In most cases we will increase your sales dramatically, in others well, you get what you ask for.

we would know what files are encrypted if there that important, and if we were to forget a password, this program would be useless since there is no actual password recovery in this program. im sorry gotd but i think you need to take a better look in the forums or something for programs that are actualy usefull and/or people actualy need.

This is beyond dopey. I'd love to be there when the court asks how much the program cost you, and you have to say it cost nothing; that you got it from a site that gives away free software every day. I don't think the worst lawyer on the planet would have the nerve to give it a try.

The app. has a lot of faults in error handling:
- often can´t be terminated regularly!
- hangs ALWAYS on faulty .RAR and .ZIP files!!!
- mostly ever hangs on empty files with unknown extensions!
- hangs on some regular rar and zip archives!!!
- hangs on some .exe installers, e.g. some original .Rar exe´s!!!

good idea - with some good parts
BUT NEVERTHELESS:
it´s faulty shit - not professional...
