THANKS for this fantastic software - it really helped me in my endless search for a smart program to make an presentation.

It is the first software, i've found, that really make an ebook.exe file without problems.

Well, the agreement with GOTD is "no commercial use" which means if one wants to sell his/her ebooks they can't with the GOTD version. But check the feature comparison list at the site, anyone wanting to sell ebooks created with this program really needs the Pro version anyway, not the Standard. The Pro version is $70, which would be a business expense and the paid-for program becomes part of capital. Unless of course someone feels they would not be able to make back even $70 selling their ebooks, in which case they should probably think about starting some other business. ;)

Standard version still has use for some though. Teachers might find it useful to create study guides for public school students, college students could use it to create their own study guides, those who want to give away (as opposed to sell) ebooks could find it useful. "No commercial use" doesn't mean you can't give away your products, it only means you can't sell them.

I do get its purpose; But why, as you say, advertise it as 'Standard', when the only difference is the use of it, and the licensing provided by GoTD essentially makes it the FREE version?

Love the product though. If I do need a use for it, I will pay for Standard or maybe even Pro. For now though, no specific use I can think of for private use.

As for your comment; I love GoTD; Great idea. Just sometimes things end up counter-intuitive and essentially demo-ify a product by licencing rather than allowing the use of the product as intended to encourage upgrading to a newer or higher 'package' (IE:- pro)

Roman, there are limitations for the free version, check this list again.

I don't understand term and conditions in this case. If the only difference between Free and Standard version is "Creating commercial eBooks / Using eBooks in commercial projects" (see http://www.ebookmaestro.com/versions.html) and GOTD terms for offered Standard version say "Strictly non-commercial usage", it means that you are giving us already free version!

BTW, great software. As I see, some commenters absolutely did not get its purpose.

Just made this app totally useless. Thumbs down everyone. Can use it commercially, just can't profit from it or any product created using it. Essentially a glorified demo for this one because of the LA

#46, 47, 49, read the license agreement included, please: "The registered user can use eBook Maestro STANDARD to produce as many products that can be shared, distributed and sold as he/she likes."

Now, you're registered users once you activate the software, but, according to GAOTD rules, "...Strictly non-commercial usage", you can't create ebooks for sale using your GAOTD copy.

This sounds like the ebooks created by eBook Maestro STANDARD (this version) cannot be read in anyone else's computer. Such a restriction would strip the program of 99.333% of its utility. Is the license referring to "software products" other than an ebook?

There's no difference between this Ebook Maestro giveaway and what you can get on their (Ebook Maestro's) website.

A free e-book creator that only allows you to view the ebook on the same computer on which it was created is not a free e-book creator. That is like a restaurant, where the food cannot leave the kitchen. Uninstalling.

I agree that this should be the Pro version. If you can't use it for commercial purposes, and can only use it on the computer you created it on, it's pretty pointless. Are you going to make a compiled HTML help file just for yourself or something? Most likely not...

I personally hate this software, it has no use and all it does is take up disk space and make crummy pdfs.

What's the deal with that?

It doesn't even make real pdfs. It makes ebms. And the features it has are the same in a way better interface called, primopdf.

Commercial purposes tends to mean 'No distributing, reselling, etc.' on this site, it seems. Seen this question posed previously, and looks like this is how they do it.

Question for GoTD: Is this the 'Free' version from their site?

Might come in handy at the office. I haven't read into it yet, but I assume you can take a Word file and make it into an uneditable document.

Spent some time on their webpage, discovered you have to know HTML to utilize this, but they do offer resources and templates. I will be giving it a try. At first I did not see that you have to compile it to get a .exe, but it does work. Also, I wish they had let us have the Pro version!! But, this is still very very good, so thanks to all!!

Personally I think the religious comments are ruining the idea of the comments section. The admin asked nicely to stop. It's getting to the point where I hesitate to look because I know I'm gonna see the religious jabs you ppl are throwing..

Looks like a great give away. Not sure how useful it would be. My understanding of the terms anything you complied with it would basically have to be free. Otherwise you would be breaking non-commercial usage agreement.

e-book maestro: I was hoping to try this utility.
This utility did not install, exiting instead with error message stating that I must login as Administrator to install this program.
Unfortunately, I have only user account...

On previous occasions, when this happened, you used to enclose the serial number for the program, so that we could install it later as Administrator on another computer. Not this time. :(

Даволі цікавая праграма, але ж які ў ёй сэнс? Гэты exe не прадастаўляе аніякіх надзвычай каштоўных функцый. Ды і опцыя "select" працуе. Да, скапіраваць нельга, але для гэтага ёсць іншыя праграмы. Напрыклад, Cleptomania.

eBook Maestro варта мець на HDD (на ўсялякі выпадак), але яе цяжка назваць вельмі карыснай.
