Easy RSS2Email is a program that is used to automatically create and send e-mail messages whose contents are retrieved from news feeds. Besides the popular RSS format, the program also supports the Atom and RDF formats. It is possible to send message both in HTML and in plain text.

Easy RSS2Email has a built-in word automatic replacement dictionary, allows you to mix up news feeds, filter feed topics by keywords. You can easily import and export e-mail addresses – the program supports all popular formats of text databases. It is possible to work using the command line. The program has a convenient interface and is really easy to use.

To create your own newsletter, click the ‘New Project’ button on the toolbar of the main program window. In the ‘New Project’ dialog box specify the addresses of RSS (RDF, Atom) feeds, select one of the templates for final e-mail messages distributed together with the program, either manually enter the recipients' e-mail addresses or import them and click the ‘OK’ button. To start sending messages, click the ‘Start’ button on the toolbar of the main window. Easy RSS2Email will automatically load the news feed, do everything necessary and send messages.

Despite the bozos who are dinging my comment #34, it is correct--Easy RSS2Email damages exactly the same registry entries as Easy RSS Content Generator does. I'll bet the bozos who are dinging my comments haven't even checked their registries against the entries which I documented on BladedThoth's forum.

Get http://www.blogbot.com/ it plugs into Outlook. Then you can just forward your rss feed news... its Open Source.

Thx, GAOTD Team as ever. It's surely not a easy thing to maintain the service.

About Rss2Email i don't think its useful, such a task should be done by a server side script and not a client pc... on the other hand it's probably a feature of major blogging software already.

#12 (and everyone else), the "suspicious activity" was probably due to registry damage. My computer is busy with other tasks, so it will be later before I'll have a chance to install Easy RSS2Email, but it's highly likely that it does similar damage to Easy RSS Content Generator, which I mentioned on that program's GOTD comment page, and which I have documented in BladedThoth's forum. Specifically, Easy RSS Content Generator "takes over" a large number of shared Windows common controls. I doubt that this was malicious, but it does indicate a stunning lack of programming competence, and sooner or later, may cause you grief (some people had immediate problems from this after trying Easy RSS Content Generator, probably after an uninstall).

#29 Hi Jacob, this program does not make RSS feeds, it sends existing ones out in newsletters to mailing lists.

To make your own RSS Feeds (free that is) have a look here

http://www.make-rss-feeds.com/making-an-rss-feed.htm

Best wishes, Merril

Man, This has been the longest streak (1 week) for me for not downloading a software because it was of no use to me. This is not a criticism just a comment.

So... This looks good. I've been looking for a way to make RSS feeds. At least, I suppose that is what this does. I'll try it out.

PS. Giveaway of the Day, I love the comment stripes and the comment ratings. Keep up the great work!

#24 Hi there, thanks so much for your message - yes regarding my earlier post of #17 this afternoon I was thinking about it and came up with the idea of editing the HTML of the templates' design to add a message at the top and bottom of the feeds. I hadn't thought of creating an introductory feed of my own, that is a great idea, thanks so much.

Whilst adding to the feeds is therefore possible this is merely a "way around" the problem as opposed to an ideal solution; if the developers would add this feature as part of the program then it would make the software much, much better without us having to tweak it ourselves. But this is more a point to the developers and thank you so much again for writing with those ideas.

Thanks a lot Extralabs and GAOTD!
From 0 to 10, I'll give it a 8: It should need some more options and tools, but it's lovely besides that ;)

I'm so afraid to poste my comments after GAOTD innovated value scale "yes-no". B-r-r-r-r... But I think it's a good decision. It will stimulate our inner censorship.
I had no problem during the instalation of RSS2Email. Of course it's a usefull tool for those who have a website with everyday-updating news. I must to grow up to use this program for my site. :)

GAOTD friends, please don't make yourselfs angry because of my non-professional comments! I like this site and your comments. This site is an only possibility for me to learn English. And you guys are my best teachers. Thank you! You brush up my English every day.

Maybe you need another excellent tool called Super (c) http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html . It makes a great compression when you convert mpg to flash /for example in my case: from 480 to 32/. It's absolutely free!

Hello GAOTD team! According to my statistics I am the 1 000 000 visitor of giveawayoftheday.com. It would be very kind of you if you grant myself with a real Windows licence. XP of course! C'mon, be humans! I want to become a lawful person. Up to now I am a criminal. :)

I regularly send excerpts of informative and humorous blogs like 'Ironic Sans,' 'Didn't You Hear,' 'Dark Roasted Blend,' 'Bonehead of the Day,' 'jeneralize,' 'Terrible Blogs,' 'Bobbarama' .. well, you get the idea ... it is a lot of cut'n'paste.

This little program will allow me to choose all or part of the list. No fancy bells'n'whistles that defy understanding, no lengthy instructions that require a degree in structural engineering to decipher, just a simple and clean interface to streamline my choices and get me back to the fishin' hole in short order.

Ahhhhh ...simplicity! What a concept!

Two thumbs up and a hearty 'thank you!' to Extra Labs and Giveaway of the Day.

Hmmmmm, another program that I, an average home user and a novice computer user, have absolutely no idea how to even begin using and quite frankly, have no idea as to what I would even use it for. Useless for novices or average home user programs seem to be popping up here with increasing frequency...which is a good thing for all the computer savy people who know how to use every bell and whistle on their computers...and I'm happy for them, I'm just not so happy for those of us who could use basic ground level programs that improve our computers and sometimes teach us something new at the same time. Still love this site though and will visit every day.
(And to the gent yesterday who thinks Samdi is a guy, it's NannySamdi, I'm a 52 yr old grandmother. Just so you know.)

RSS2Email downloaded and installed seamlessly on XP SP2, with the time-sensitive GOTD Activation built into Set-up equalling quicker installation time.

A simple, user-friendly interface houses an intricate program that has much capability. Ideal for business users who send out newsletters regarding topical subjects that are updated frequently, this is the market I suspect would make most use of the program. But other uses are possible, for example clubs who have members interested in new articles about their pastime or even a group of friends who wish to share celebrity gossip - uses are therefore somewhat diverse and not restricted to companies.

For me personally I can see myself using this for the website embedded in my name below this message and it is as such the ideal program for doing so. The particular topic of rising-beyond-comprehension petrol prices is one with constant news coverage that is advantageous for both current and potential customers of mine to be aware and RSS2Email allows this with minimal effort. Among the best features of the program are words that you wish to be discluded or altered can be changed within the dictionary setting, mailing lists can be imported and different templates can be used to mail feeds (although I do think that the examples of the templates could be a bit bigger so you can see them properly). You can also stop/ start the program from launching on start-up from within the program itself instead of having to do this yourself externally through MSConfig.

Having tested the program out, the one thing that does disappoint me that I strongly believe should have been incorporated is the ability to add a message of your own above the feeds that are emailed out. I think that it looks somewhat curt to email a person or mailing list, albeit with a personalised subject, a list of news stories/ updated feeds without ANY message of your own. It also looks strange and unwelcoming. Plus, if there is a topic to which you want your reader/s to pay partcular attention, having no message inclusion facility means that you cannot do this without sending another email telling them to do so - messy, time-consuming and likely annoying for the recipients.

The other, smaller, disadvantage is that the program only minimises to an icon in the taskbar and not in the usual manner as a tab so such icons need to be enabled in Control Panel for you to minimise and maximise if this is a feature you utilise.

Although overall the program is good and does what it says, the lack of feature to add your own message above the feeds as described above is off-putting and if similar programs included this facility then unfortunately I would choose them over RSS2Email as this is, to me, a big flaw and one that I feel should have been a mandatory feature for the developers to include. This is a real shame as otherwise it is a simple program that is as time-saving as it is easy to use.

If you do ever decide to buy the program from this company
then keep in mind their support
http://www.extralabs.net/company.htm
To qoute :
"Our staff is available to respond to your inquiries 24 hours a day, excluding holidays. Messages are normally answered within one business day."

Don't forget to check out their support forum, it's an eye-opener
http://www.extralabs.net/forum/

Check it out to see what kind of support they consider 24 hour support.
http://www.extralabs.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=1
(noticed the 20 messages or so about movies? - any idea what that has to do with support?)

http://www.extralabs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=450
http://www.extralabs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1342

Then again, why would you buy it if they will give any of their software to you for free
http://www.extralabs.net/free.htm

All in all it looks to me like another Russian company that is clamping at straws.

5 VideoGet - as luck would have it, this was something that I needed to do about 2 hours ago.

Select "_Local File" when you paste in your URL and follow their example for the file location format.

ie: file:///D:/VIDEO/iCandy.flv (note the 3 forward slashes)

Works like a charm.

Rating:
0/10

Reason:

Does not work, instead a system crash occurs at the end of install after antivirus suspicious activity warning. I'm not sure whether this is just a "coincidence" or unrelated occurence, but I am DEFINITELY NOT going to try downloading it again. (It is too much trouble using system restore in safe mode to fix the PC)

Redundant. IE7 does this, and I think there are Firefox plugins as well. All free.

Who cares if it even works. Free? I recommend it. But, not for just short of $#33.

Won't download it, I tell ya, thumbs down here (though I won't vote on it.

The company making it should take a lesson in basic economics.

They should learn about supply. That if they don't have something exclusive that it is silly to ask 32 USD for something. Even more so if there are alternatives that are just as good and lots cheaper.

They would do well to also learn about demand. If the demand is low, and it is, because the amount of people interested in it is small and the amount of people actually having a use for it is even smaller, then the price should reflect that as well.

In short, if the supply is high and the demand is low then there's no reason what so ever for an overinflated price unless they view it as a get-rich-quick scheme or if they think that they are the best thing that happened to programming since the first GUI.

BBC gives a good non-technical explanation of "News Feeds" (a simple term BBC uses for RSS/Atom/XML feeds).
