Easy Photo Unblur improves the quality of camera shots by removing excessive noise and sharpening the blurred objects. Making photos in motion or unfavorable light conditions often results in blurred or noisy shots. With Easy Photo Unblur pictures become crystal clear thanks to smart digital optimization. The program algorithms unblur photos by detecting misfocused objects and intelligently cleaning the noise. The program offers a range of unblur pics modes with adjustable parameters – smoothing radios, detalization, noise pre- and post processing. Depending on the noise intensity, you are free to use different unblur image modes to fix the handshake, misfocuse and motion blur. This unblur picture app supports batch image optimization that is much faster than unblur photos one by one. Just drag and drop the image folder to the app and start processing.

There are many ways how to unblur a picture, and the most of them require professional skills in graphics editing. Easy Photo Unblur fits everyone regardless of skills in photography and design. The program helps to unblur a picture using artificial intelligence mechanisms. It is much more efficient than flat sharpening used in the most of alternative solutions. A user can preview the result and compare it with original photo before saving changes.

Unlike some programs that don't do what they claim this one works. It's an improvement over the original photo but don't expect miracles.

Utter garbage. And lying garbage at that. Does absolutely nothing that ANY sharpen function in any editing program can't already do. And it's claims that it can do anything about motion blur are a nonsense, as it does nothing different for motion blur than any other type of blurriness.

And I instantly mistrust any program that insists on using "artificial intelligence" as a buzzword when there's absolutely no AI involved whatsoever.

Or Irfanview and GIMP, which are my two go-tos, ofter over Photoshop. Both free, both do what this program does AND much more.

Given this is marketed as a single function program, it really should do something more. There are techniques for helping motion blur which really should be present in such a program, but sadly aren't.

Easy Photo Unblur 2.0 may help on some out-of-focus photos, but it's not a cure [I don't think there really is one].

I'm working on restoring a largish box of old photos, so I tried Easy Photo Unblur 2.0 on a couple of B&W & one color snapshots that had motion blur [camera moved while the shutter was open]. On one it had no effect beyond making the overall image a slight bit darker. On the 2nd try, the picture was out of focus, and had motion blur -- it did make the man's face noticeably clearer, but it didn't do anything about the motion blur in other parts of the photo. On the 3rd try, with the color photo, starting with the strong preset I cranked the detail all the way up, & brought down the smoothing -- it did help make some parts of the image clearer, had little or no effects on other parts, & probably because I turned the smoothing down, made the coloring of one of the 3 faces splotchy. It also darkened the 2nd & 3rd attempts, and on the color photo, made some of the defects [from its old age] more apparent.

Unfortunately a plugin is not included, so I'll experiment later to see how well it works adding a photo that's been through Easy Photo Unblur to a layer with a inverted mask above a layer with the original in P/Shop -- that should work in any image editing app with layers. The altered photo will only be visible where I paint on that mask -- everywhere else the original will show through -- so I can use only the parts of the photo where Easy Photo Unblur improved things. I'm just not sure whether, after adjusting for the way images are darkened, it'll be worth the effort, considering parts of the photo will likely still be blurred, which would normally make it a throwaway. That said, unlike conventional sharpening, Easy Photo Unblur does seem to work, if only in certain areas of the photo.

The app itself installs to a single folder -- after deleting the language files etc. I don't need, I was left with 8 files at ~123MB. As there are 2 .exe files, one 32 & one 64 bit, I actually just copied the folder from the VM where I monitored its install, ran the 64 bit .exe file, & registered it. The program does use 7 of the available 8 threads with this i7 CPU, though CPU % stayed around 14, and does seem to like a bit of memory -- the jpgs I opened were around 5MB, & it used 1.5GB RAM.

Of course using Easy Photo Unblur 2.0, your mileage may vary. A photo may be not or less sharp for a variety of reasons... The quality of the lens has a lot to do with the sharpness of the photos you take using it -- there are some, usually cheaper, old 35mm camera lenses that are sought out today, because they produce notably softer portraits. Moving the camera while it's taking a photo adds motion blur -- cell phone [& tablet] cameras are less prone to this. Optical & digital anti-shake features can help, though they vary in quality & effectiveness, and may slightly decrease sharpness when turned on if/when you don't need them. The obvious way to avoid moving the camera during a handheld shot is to use a faster shutter speed. The problem is that if there isn't enough light available, increasing the shutter speed will make the photo too dark. The most common way to counteract that is to increase the ISO setting, which increases the sensor's sensitivity to light. The problem with that is that it introduces noise -- the higher the ISO, the more noise you get, though some cameras will allow higher *usable* ISO settings than others. Noise makes a photo less sharp, but it's very different from blur.

Easy Photo Unblur 2.0 can also help with noise, & so *may* give you sharper pictures. The photos taken with some cameras [including cell phones] have more noise that photos taken with other cameras, regardless the ISO setting -- again your mileage may vary.

The program does not work. After 50% of the processing is disabled, Windows informs you that the program has stopped.

I got Easy Photo Unblur 1.0 from a previous giveaway. Will I be able to register v2.0 with the same e-mail address and update without problems?

Reply   |   Comment by TechSmurfy  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

TechSmurfy, I think so.
I did use a mail-adres, that I used often with this firm "SoftOrbits".
Therefore I did not need to confirm the mail-address and did get the code in the next screen.

Ootje, thanks. It automatically installed in the same folder.

I do get app crashes each time I try to exit the app without saving, though.

MickMe,

"There is no comparison."

You're correct -- checking out the Photoscape site, reading through the features & the help page, I didn't see any overlap -- the 2 apps do different things.

I did try it and found out that you can do the same thing with almost any photo editor if you sharpen the photo and lower the contrast level, the results are almost the same and you can not tell the difference.

Firstly, i'm not going to say much about the voting results for giveaways from this company, i guess most people know what 'm talking about. Let's put it like this, it's overly generous, every.single.time.

Since the vendor changed the promo activation storage some time ago, we are finally able to use multiple promo versions of different programs from this vendor simultaneously on the same PC, that's good. I know, it may sound weird because it should be a normal thing and expected and wouldn't require extra mentioning.

I loaded a 1280x1678 JPG picture (Skeletor Saves by Gnargleboy), i selected the Strong preset, pressed Run. Half way trough, everything seems fine, at around 80% it crashed. Ok, no problem, restart.

Same again but this time with the Medium preset, same as above.

Ok, last try. Now i'm using 1200x1200 HEX | Apey & The Pea cover in JPG format. Strong preset, crash at 80%, Medium, same, Soft, same.

I gave up now and uninstalled.

kui_, same for me but i solved it using compatibility mode Windows 7 and running it as Administrator. Worth a try.

kui_, i can confirm that worked. Thanks twin brother and thanks e-mail notification. :D

Now i can't update my initial comment but well, if you have no other picture editor that can handle it, you might give it a try but there isn't much this program can do what others cannot do aswell, like Gimp or Xnview. In general i don't want to have like 10 different image editors installed for different tasks, instead having it built into one and the same application.

Ootje, imo the best method for this is upscaling. I use A Sharper Scaling for that, it's freeware, maybe give it a go? http://a-sharper-scaling.com

Here is a article dealing with it, some interesting comments down there aswell.

kui_, here my comparison, first one original, second one 3x Bicubic upscaling and reduction to 70% image size after that. Idk if imgur compresses uploaded videos but looks like the second image has artifacts the one on my hard drive doesn't have. Not much but it can be noticed slightly.

Registration is easy, just fill in your email address and name on the automatically opened website and the key is displayed there. A short test showed that the program cannot import a picture from an iPhone directly, the picture must be saved first on a HD or stick. Then I tested the strongest preset with a somewhat blurry winter picture taken from a driving car. The program was busy and busy and busy and finally it showed a result which really shows little details more clear. Over all, the picture seems to have more and better contrast.
Thumbs up.

The publishers have done themselves no favours with that awful, overworked night club photo.

I was going to give it a try until I saw this. I think I'll stick to judicious use of photo editing tools.

The download and install is quick and easy. I was expecting something more than the usual run of the mill program.
However , after trying it on several photos of different values, I find it is less effective than others that I now have.
Especially the auto part of it.
Thank you GOTD for the offering but I don't think that I will keep it.

oldi, have you tried synching your current system time online? Servers tend to check with server time and may refuse if there is a certain amount of time difference in system time. Also is the firewall blocking on your end? If you have a firewall that doesn't notify about outgoing and incoming connections from new programs, it may silently block it due to to a standard rule set working this way.

I've tried the previous version of this giveaway when it was provided here quite some time ago. My conclusion: it's not much that you couldn't do with a contemporary image processing application (like the great Affinity Photo which
has several ways of sharpening an image).
For free, you can take today's offer, but I definitely wouldn't buy it (for $50).

Potentially essential program. Last giveaway was November 2017 when version 2 over-wrote the excellent version 1 and constantly crashed. Contact with Softorbits dire. Today's giveaway did not crash but introduced interesting noise patterns. Looking for alternatives.

Worked ok Win 10 x64 Pro. Upon initial part of install, program offers the means to get Serial via SO's site. There you pop in your usual name/email addy and up comes the Serial to enter for continuing with the paused initial installation.
Program has Undo, Batch, Image Correction & Reduce blurring w/ sliders for amounts.
Basic that way. Image Correction on a small file actually did tiny 'improve' and a surprise in file size reduction - likely due to program reducing it internally since didn't see a slider option to adjust. Most programs offer a percentage (default is to reduce to @90%). But this is first I've seen w/o that. Drag & drop. I guess the Batch Mode helps for down and dirty fast work.
Thanks GOTD for offer. Do note SO has a history of follow up email & prg offer nags.

Am I alone in thinking the crowd example on the website looks 'wrong' and actually hurts the eyes as you look at it?

Reply   |   Comment by A George  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

A George,
I son't know about hurting the eyes, but it's over-corrected, with the result that hard edges are formed. Look for example at the woman's arm.

I've done a more moderate job myself, using a free image editing tool. Compare original (1st) with mine (2nd):
https://i.imgur.com/5DqOTwI.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/cTBHkm2.jpg

I also point out that a little blurring where motion is involved, as opposed to camera shake, is not necessarily a bad thing, as it portrays the idea of motion.

Reply   |   Comment by tomcat  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

You are not alone. I also beleive that the "untouched" photo samples on their site are much better looking than the "unblured".

Especially the crowd example seems nothing more than an over-sharpening photo effect which actually adds lots of noise (and if you try to de-noise, then it will blur again and the result will be worse than original).

Personally I am going to pass the offer.
