Installed and activated no problem. Win7, 32bit. Program ran smooth, results were mixed. Tested after using a photo editor blur tool to alter a good photo. Results were somewhat mixed in attempting to fix it. Was able to unblur well, in respect to the entire photo, but not real well to the specific area i blurred without creating a very embossed looking photo overall. Not a keeper.. (for me).. but for simple overall blurred photo it may work somewhat for others.

This is garbage. Many free editors produce same results, if not better, and do so in a couple of seconds, not the 30-40 secs if this embarrassingly slow turkey.

I have given up on Softorbits . This is the third software I have tried to download from them and failed to use . I have tried two email addresses,which have worked every time on giveaways from other companies but strangely , not for Softorbits have not had a key from them, or reply for any of the last three offers, although ,they have spammed my inboxes with "offers" for the software that I couldn't even use .

install & activation went OK, But from the point of view of keeping on my PC I would say No. Condemed to dustbin within 10 Minutes did not work for me.

Activated successfully but it still is an unregistered version. Can't save processed photos without purchase.

Installed without problems on XP sp3 although pre-7 systems are not officially supported. Upon experimentation with a blurred photo, I found that the processing took several minutes and used all available CPU and a big chunk of memory, admittedly on an old computer. The results were not as good as on the web-site (surprise, surprise!) but some improvement was obtained. Another less severely blurred picture gave quite good results. I found going beyond "gentle" to "medium" or "strong" counter-productive, but reducing the smoothing radius to around 10 helped. I compared it to "Focus Magic" (another intelligent unblur program mentioned by GAOTD users in the past) and found that Easy Photo Unblur produced better images. Under "Tools" there are a number of editing options commonly found in programs of this type, such as MS Office Picture Manager. All in all, a useful program for rescuing some of the less than perfect pics produced by compact cameras.

Oddly I've never had any issues downloading or installing any GOTD software, except when it comes to software by Softorbits. My AV which I've used for many years without any real issues always complains about Softorbits software being unsafe and as I trust my AV and have no wish to risk my machine I tend to avoid their software. I assume that the .CDG wrapper used for their software is the same as for others and therefore not the cause of the warning. Everything else downloaded from GOTD works as it should.

After reading how this programme apparently UNinstalls previous programmes made by SoftOrbits (and I certainly do have some) -- I thought I would try to defeat that by renaming the installation file.

But oh-oh, no you CAN'T. Because in the ReadMe it says:

PLEASE, DO NOT RENAME THE INSTALLATION FILE, OTHERWISE THE ACTIVATION WON'T WORK!!!

Well, that was enough for me. I went back and read several more negative appraisals that had appeared in the meantime -- and I am pulling out. I won't be installing this programme of debatable utility.

Franzis (in Germany) WERE having a discount to $20 for their Sharpening programme recently -- I think I will go back to them and see if it is still available, as I would trust them more.....

I do wonder though, now that someone has made the point, just how it might handle already-in-focus parts of the image. That is a point I had never even considered.... It's certainly worth thinking about -- and perhaps checking out, because unless there is an algorithm that prevents "over-sharpening", you might just end up with the reverse problem....

It urgently needs a way to control what gets "rescued". the algorithm sharpens to death the sharp parts of the picture, too, not just the blurred ones.

lol, "fiddly" is a nice way to describe activation. First, you have to Facebook or provide an email address to get the download link, which comes quickly. Then you get to download a 26mb installer (installed size is ~127mb). Installation offers options to change install location and Start Menu entry (Win10 x64 with Classic Shell) but does not install desktop shortcut.

On running, standard, resizable window with menus. Clicking the registration button opens a page where you have to provide first and last name, and email address. Registration code went to junk mail but came quickly. You can copy the code as the registration window in the application has a "paste code from clipboard" button which is a nice touch.

It's possible to open up a Tools section that allows manual adjustment of RGB, gamma, etc. Other than supporting batch processing, it does not seem to do anything better than the program that came with my Canon printer back in the late '90s, or modern free tools like Irfanview. It does process things quickly, but I don't know if that is due to better hardware (8gb ram vs 64mb in my Win97 machine).

On uninstall, Start Menu entry is removed, but the program folder in Program Files (x86) remains, along with a 57mb .exe file, so an uninstaller like Revo or manual cleanup is needed. The uninstall does remove all registry entries, which is nice.

Not agreeing that installing a new softorbits GAOTD program removes registration of previously installed GAOTD software from them. If that were the case one of the programs installed would still be working. I have found in the past that all the programs installed (only 2 or 3 were installed) are no longer usable.

This program was a complete waste of my time! I do not comment a lot in this site, but i have found lots of good programs. This one first offers me a new version for a fee. This one is 1.1 and the update was to be 1.3 and I decided to try first the free version. Lucky for me that I made a copy of my photo to try. I left the settings as default an run the process. Al I got was a totally black photo, completely damage. Sorry but this is not a way to promote software.

two different feedback you must know:

1- for GOTD: the program you add for download is v1.2 and after installing say V1.3 is available.
(but when download v1.3 and install it whit this key successfully activated )

2- for soft orbit manager: please update your program. any program download from your company from giveaway site after installing and launching when resizing program The page is broken.

Yes Soft orbits apparently removes other soft orbit GOTD programs when you install one of their more recent GOTD offers. This would seem to be more than questionable. In my opinion, it is theft and GOTD should not allow it. In my opinion, SoftOrbits should be boycotted until they change their policy.

Soft Orbits also seem to immediately offer, (the same day that you accept one of their GOTD offers) an update to the day's offer. Question is: does that then erase your GOTD and put you in a pay category? Don't know but perhaps GOTD can check. GOTD is great but it should policy some of these offers.

Downloaded easily, if a bit longwinded. In use it seems very fiddly and I could not get any improvement on the original pictures. In fact, it made them worse.

Uninstalled.

Many of you here might have given up trying SoftOrbits giveaways, because after finding them turned back to trial whenever you wanted to use them, you just got fed up.

Without too much hope but stubbornly, I kept on installing some of them. I just checked and guess what??!! On my two computers (W7x64 and W10x64)
they all are STILL ACTIVATED!!! :)

So it seems that either SoftOrbits has endly solved the involontary bug or realized that volontarily giving something then taking it back to create frustration was counterproductive.

I might have just been lucky, please don't hold me accountable if ultimately you find out you have wasted your time and bandwidth for nothing, but as someone who has been very vehement here (at least as long as I was still welcomed to do so) and in the forum against SoftOrbits and their faux giveaways, and has questioned the good faith of their people who repeatedly claimed to have solved the problem while it was obviously not the case, I think I had to tell this.

And the fact that their programs can or cannot rival their commercial or free competitors is another issue, which is open to discussion here.

Soft Orbits are makers of very good programs however their marketing is a strange and questionable one , they give you a program as a "giveaway "but first remove any other "give away "you had from them before, leaving you without a program you might have been depending on ,their programs are also to be found under different company names begging the question who are they working for or with , but all in all their programs are usually good just be warned you can loose any other you also have from them .
