Have installed three times today but can't find it. What is the file name in the Program files folders?

On my system it's TSSI, but I upgraded from a previous version so no promises they haven't changed it.

JohnL, Thanks, I tried that yesterday. Also the other one in #2. Maybe the owners will give me another idea.

McAfee keeps deleting my installation, saying Setup.exe is infected with "Real Protect-SSI2713938DC9D2". Anyone else experiencing this? I've tried to install 3x times, McAfee has deleted all attempts.

Gio Sal, It's the wrapper that GiveawayoftheDay uses to conceal the actual installer that it is complaining about. Some AV vendors flag it as malware. It's more of what I wold consider grey-ware. It's not technically malware, but yet not completely benign either. Temporarily disable McAfee until after it's downloaded and installed.

After that, I'd probably consider different AV software. McAfee has been trash for a number of years. Maybe give Eset a go...

The program would not install on my PC. I ran setup.exe and only the registration window appeared showing "You are registered." Then my browser opened onto a TriSun page. I downloaded a second time (from GOTD) with same result. Downloaded File Finder Plus 11 from the TriSun site, installed and the Finder program opened properly. Pasted the Registration key from the earlier readme.txt file and all is copasetic.
Never before had this problem with giveawayoftheday@com software. Computers can be interesting.

I would like to scan only a folder and its subfolders that exist on a network drive.
However the program does not show the network drive in its list of available drives.
Any ideas?

A quick test shows some pretty nice results. Thanks to JohnL for his comment on the Big Files option. Mine defaulted to the quick compare still, so definitely need to set that to the full test.

Ont thing I'd love to see in these types of programs is to also highlight when an entire subdirectory (or even better, a while tree) is identical. I will sometimes back up a copy of a memory card, and then later copy it again, etc, etc. So I end up with several copies of a USB key or card. Likewise, moving folders from one drive to another, sometimes the original is no longer needed. I know each of the files is identified, but that might be a thousand duplicates. I just need to know that the entire thing is a duplicate.

I have no need for this software so not commenting on that however, I just wanted to say thank you to TriSun for so prominently including the terms of the license being offered. As this site does not require it, despite many users suggesting they do, so often it is not stated which results in people having to ask about it in the comments. So again, thank you for that.

Surprised to receive an email this morning from Giveawayoftheday.com inviting me to come and get today's duplicate file finder. Have never received such an email before. Used to come here daily, but gave it up when offerings became very repetitive and you had to "like" the provider in several places or ways to have a chance of winning a license.
You can use the free duplicate file finder included with CCleaner. It's located in the "Tools" menu on the left hand side of the window.

I haven't try it yet, probably will do it later.

Does it has an option to compare files by checksum?

Bai Hui,

It compares MD5s.

This program would be so much more useful if I could see it.
1.if the panel would go full screen, making the font larger too
2. and if the little boxes to check were big enough to click with one try.
I am unable to see anything on the playing card size panel without using the windows magnifier - which is a nightmare to use. control+ did not work. If there are controls within the program to adjust for aging eyes - I can't see it to find them.

Zopal,

This may help: Installation tips; and dealing with tiny text, etc., on higher-DPI "4K" displays

HMarx, I already install the way you described.. my own temp folder... etc. The small font issue isn't for a higher DPI/ 4K device and I don't use windows 10. Windows 7 here with an older 27"

I have a 4k display and find the font size fine, so not sure what is going on there. Windows 10 though so it has better support for high-DPI displays.

JohnL, I don't think this is an installation problem. It's a design feature request. This was a suggestion to add a maximize feature to the program GUI, which could also enlarge the font on the interface.

If anyone has CCleaner installed, it already has this feature in the Tools menu. You may try it with this one for performance comparison or if you do not wish to be bothered installing more stuff on your hard drive.

kokobin,

But:

"Please note it is not safe to remove all the duplicates CCleaner finds. The Duplicate Finder can search for files with the same File Name, Size, Modified Date and Content; however it isn't able to determine which files are needed and which can be safely deleted.

I quite like this, but an earlier version ( https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/duplicate-file-finder-plus-9-0/ or https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/duplicate-file-finder-plus-10/ ) had a huge issue...

It has an option "For big files that reach this size" that defaulted to "Sampling Comparison". This means it didn't compare the whole file and could have false duplicates, so you would delete something that wasn't a duplicate.

This one defaulted to "Full comparison", but I can't tell if it picked that up from how I had v10 set or it is the new default.

BE VERY CAREFUL!

So in summary - has some nice options but MAKE SURE the above option is set correctly.

BTW I spotted this issue as I did a comparison and saw two videos shown as duplicates that I new were different.

P.S. if you have trouble finding it after installing, it installed on my system in the start menu entry "TSSI".

P.P.S. I find the resource selector annoyingly slow.

But I did just use it "for real" and it all went fine, plus as I said all the options are handy.
