I also found this to be the least useful driver updater ever... it only alerts you to the driver and takes you to the manufacturer's page to find it on your own... I would keep it if it at least took you to the correct download page.

All this program does it take you to the manufactures website to search for the driver on your own
Worthless

I gave up using Driver Update programs several years ago after I had horrendous problems with my PC after installing one (not this one). I reckoned that why should I change something that is working perfectly well and run the risk of upsetting everything. (or "if it ain't broke don't fix it")

Never again.

Niv, I used to think that way, too, until I discovered 'Driver Easy.' It does exactly what we want in a driver updater and gives us the freedom to actually install any of them or not.

Niv, you haven't tried the authentic ones. Try from this list: Diver Easy (paid), Driver Max (paid) or Driver Booster (paid; comes also free).

Thoroughly useless program, just like SUMo is. Doesn't recognize anything, doesn't install updates.

This softwares saving grace is that it determines which of your hardware components have a driver update available. It will take you to the components homepage. But finding the driver is up to you. It is akin to calling for a taxi to take you to a particular hotel. The taxi takes you to the city in which that hotel exists. But it is up to you to find it. At least it points you in the right direction.

Eldad Benary, P.S.
Sometimes a 'free' version is only slightly limited and quite useful. Seems that not in this case.

Milow, when you click Software Update at the top right, it is taking you to another application similarly named by the same company. If you use both, they can work together to keep your system up to date.

Bob,
That is not right
the name of the downloaded zip-file is
DumoPro218-sb19mk.zip. - so Dumopro
In conjunction with a registry code, I thought I had the pro version
Very bad

Kind of poor. It does detect out-of-date drivers but it just dumps you at the company website for the item selected. It is then YOUR chore to find the needed update. Not helpful.

Rune, I agree with you. On the web it has more cons than pro's. It is not the most highly recommended one to use.

Rune,

I think the advantage of this offering is that it is supposed to allows the user to install any updates on their own. This avoids the possibility of the program installing the wrong version of any driver.

Bob, I dropped Iobit Booster because it kept okaying a driver that deactivated my keyboard, and that was all that it did. This was towards the end of last year, or early this year. Do you know how hard it was to fix anything without a keyboard? Even a cordless keyboard didn't work. When I restored, I marked that driver for ignoring. Then the next generation of Driver Booster came out, and it wasn't marked. I contacted Iobit about it, and they checked, and said that the driver was approved, even though the product it supposedly updated wasn't on my PC. I use Driver Easy, now.

Rick_S, you can use Start->Accessories->Ease of Access->On-Screen Keyboard with mouse only if you find yourself in a similar situation in the future. There are a number of free, portable keyboard programs as well if you ever suspect a keylogger may be installed, such as using a public system.
