Doestn work ! Clicked on Chrome icon in the ACapt window, opened Youtube to record music, waited while it played 3 songs, pressed Stop in ACapt window. Went to look for the capture .. showed that it created a DRmare Audio Capture folder under Documents, but it was empty ....
Any words of wisdom how to remedy this or should I just uninstall and forget about it ?

One more thing, it did NOT create a Capture List while YouTube was playing ...

Would be great if it worked. Tested a few times on Spotify and I can't figure out why it sometimes ( most times) doesn't title the song. I can record from many different recording softwares, but what I wanted is it to be automatically named. This looked like the perfect answer. Another thing is it doesn't split the songs unless I stop or pause it. Why would I want one big file that I have to split AND name - Isn't that the whole point of this program. I can't find much in the settings to fix these problems ??

I have the same issue. Tried multiple time to capture from Chrome (spotify open web brower, mp3fast ) just like their video, and nothing recorded. Instead the playback window kept taking me to a travel site. I too noticed that Tuneskit and DRmare are the same - both do not work. Spotify app does not get added to this - it just kept crashing. Seem like terrible software.

Would not work with Chrome or Firefox

Ben, it does say "for Windows" so it's solely created for this, I'd supposed once they have done this they'll built up to be able to do more than one browser, they might have been on the early stage as Chrome, Firefox etc required more complex programming so I assumed they want to see your reviews and your tests with Windows before proceeding further in broader range. Why do you think they're using Giveaway of the day?

Wolfie,
The interface has a Icon for Chrome and Firefox. When the Icon is pushed the appropriate program is launched however nothing is recorded. I do have a windows box.

It's seems to be dependent upon having some source to copy from. It can't seem to copy from the mic or streaming radio. And you have to have iTunes or other services installed to copy from them.

Emphasis on WITHOUT BUYING. does this mean an user will be indulging in some act of piracy from these Pay to Listen and Record Music sources?
Will these music sources take action against the user?

Reply   |   Comment by ricohflex  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+16)

ricohflex, short answer, it depends on the individual country laws. In Germany f.e. you have the right for a private copy (Privatkopie), as long as you use official sources and don't use the material for monetary gain or other similar endeavours (filesharing comes to mind), it's pretty much legal. A long answer i can't give because i'm not a lawyer with expertise from all countries. Just take Spotify as example, as a free user you get lower bitrate streams and have advertisements compared to Premium users, so there is no real "not paying" for something you don't get anyway in the first place. To answer the last question, they often don't need to because you really only get certain features and functionality if you pay up

ricohflex, How would they know you were recording? You are streaming as far as they are concerned. They don't have access to your computer. But you could ask mommie and see what she says.

ricohflex, I'm not as bothered about music sources taking action , as I am about the ethics of effectively stealing someone's work. Someone had to write the music and lyrics of the song that this software encourages you to download "without buying". That person maybe makes millions, but it's far more likely that they make next to nothing. For every Ed Sheeren, there are thousands of singers who never get a break.
So someone gets lucky and writes a tune that people like. So this software allows you to grab it and pay the writer absolutely nothing. Great job!
Imagine if Paul McCartney had released his first single and received nothing in royalties - how might that have changed the music scene around the world?
If you can't afford the singles or albums, then enjoy them on the radio between the ads. If you can afford it, support the creativity of the artists.

I've been able to record from Spotify and iTunes, but not from Chrome. Also, the feature that I really wanted this for (automatically splitting tracks into separate files) is dodgy and hasn't worked most of the time. And very annoying that you have to start this app before the playback app (the one you record from), otherwise it will force quit and restart the playback app.

Some of the newer devices, now don't have sound cards like once before. Thus there are many streams you cannot record audio from.
I will attempt to download and install, but will be back with my overall review, whether it does or doesn't work

Kenneth B Smith,

"Some of the newer devices, now don't have sound cards like once before."

It's not that they don't have soundcards -- Windows devices normally have audio chips & circuitry on the main board, so adding a soundcard or USB device is just an optional upgrade -- but rather recording from anything but the mic is often prohibited in the drivers as a method of DRM. Sometimes you can get around that prohibition, e.g. enabling recording in properties, or there are drivers that just write audio streams to a file, so you bypass the audio electronics entirely. Audio Capture for Windows takes a new & different approach, grabbing the audio stream from the app that plays it, rather than getting its input from something Windows lists as a recording device. If you want to record something from a mic or line-in OTOH, you can't select those as inputs, but need to have an app actually play that input, and grab the audio from that app.

mike, i'm also using my onboard-chip. I had to boost a little bit with additional software to get a decent quality out of it but it works pretty well and i'm ok with it. A dedicated soundcard is ofc a big upgrade sound-wise but i never really ran into issues when it comes to recording, as long as everything configured checks out properly and there is no limitation of some sorts from the app that is recording.

Kenneth B Smith, if you are using wndows xp,7,8 if you right click the speaker in your taskbar select properties another window should open with all audio devices usually if you enable if disabled the stereo mix device set as default it should record from any source that plays sound on your pc because it listense to all sound devices incoming or outgoing.windows 10 though is different you right click the speaker in the taskbar select open sound settings then in the next window that pops up select the manage sound devices then in that list should be stereo mix.

What does 3 year licence mean?
Does it stop getting updates after 3 years, or does it stop working and ask for a payment?
Thanks

Dot,
I guess they just pulled 3 years out of their "hat."

In 3 years the program will be obsolete or you will have found a better one so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Enjoy it for today.
