TK, yes, it gave me some pros and cons in a long discussion that led me to investigate other software that I decided was better for me. Others might draw different conclusions. It's just a tool that I found helpful here.

Dan, it gave me a lot of information to take in. It gave me lots of pros and cons, too much for a post here. It led me to a different program that suited my needs better. But YMMV. Best for others to check out to decide if it is helpful for them.

Are special cables needed to connect two PCs or just a USB to USB will do?

Gerry, this product does not link two computers. Both the source and destination drives must be in the same machine at clone time. And it works well for drives of many formats, even special protected formats. It is not fast.

Gerry, This is for cloning only hard drive to hard drive, not PC to PC...If that isn't clear, time to take it to a technician if you need work done.

Gerry, to clone one drive to another both have to be connected to the same PC/laptop, either internally, e.g., SATA, or one or both can be connected externally, e.g., in a USB housing.

Bay Area John, As a tech many years ago, I used "Acronis" to join two PCs which required a special cable. Thanks to all for your replies.

No sign of 'Activation' option. Is it because I had a previous version which the installation process deleted before installing version 3?

Tu Teeny,
(On Win7) I had no problem to remove version 2.0 first, without the "needed" reboot, and I installed version 3.0 right away. The Activation button was showing and entered it perfectly. The "needed" reboot requirement was a bit odd to me and I ignored it (still).

Also, was was also great only when, I used the activation, my firewall was asking to let it through once for the activation. The setup and the program itself, there was no need. Like other programs usually wants to have a connection or sort in "fishy ways" that I never trust.

I advice you, if you still have the old key, to let it search through the Registry. Or check the top "about" if you see a problem there?

Tu Teeny, if you check the postings of the previous version (2.0), you will see the answer of the publisher: probably an older version was activated on your PC.
