I also got the activation failed message. Support needs to fix their problem, not tell us to try 3 to 5 times. Makes me wonder if the program works better at erasing than it does at activating.

I use "fileshredder" https://www.fileshredder.org/ & its totally free of charge, no hoops to jump through. Just download & use. It integrates with windows & you can right click & shred as needed.

I am wondering why the publishers of Donemax Data Eraser offered their software as a Giveaway of the day. Was this a test to see how many Giveaway participants would fall for their 'bait and sell' strategy and buy their software even after trying to register the Giveaway version. To say "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting" is something I have never encountered in the numerous giveaways I have participated in. It seems to me that the publishers deliberately planned to have the giveaway participants 'fail' in attempting to activate their software. For what reason is a question for the publishers of Donemax to answer not only to the giveaway participants, but to the creators of the giveaway program. Buyer beware.

Sounds like a great program, but 1.0? I never try anything that is 1.0 even if it spits out bitcoins every minute.

Theres nothing out there that can say in the public domain that can claim to erase files even by placing words like "Military and Government" on them. Theres Forensic software they (law enforcement or such) that can virtually restore the condition of the drive.
Best option is to get an angle grinder on the platters or better still, into a furnace.

All I want is a context menu:
"Right Click > Wipe file" or
"Right-click > Wipe folder" or
"Right-click > Wipe free space on drive"
depending on what I click on.
It should overwrite once with zeroes or random data and rename the files a few times during the operation. That would be fast and enough to protect against any "economically justifiable" recovery.
I don't want to open separate programs with fancy interfaces just to delete a file with erasing methods designed for 40 years old hardware.

1. I use "PrivaZer" to erase traces so that image and file recovery programs DO NOT find small and trifling files.
2. "PrivaZer", when deleting and selecting the type of erasure, displays a message:
1 pass: cannot be restored by recovery programs
3 passes: data recovery is impossible, even with advanced technologies
4 or more passes: inefficient, a waste of time for current disk drives.
3. You can format the media and then write a large file in size, like a flash drive / memory card.
