I use "fileshredder" https://www.fileshredder.org/ & its totally free of charge, no hoops to jump through. Just download & use. It integrates with windows & you can right click & shred as needed.

I am wondering why the publishers of Donemax Data Eraser offered their software as a Giveaway of the day. Was this a test to see how many Giveaway participants would fall for their 'bait and sell' strategy and buy their software even after trying to register the Giveaway version. To say "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting" is something I have never encountered in the numerous giveaways I have participated in. It seems to me that the publishers deliberately planned to have the giveaway participants 'fail' in attempting to activate their software. For what reason is a question for the publishers of Donemax to answer not only to the giveaway participants, but to the creators of the giveaway program. Buyer beware.

Warning, prolonged writes to FLASH storage can FRY the FLASH memory chips. They are NOT engineered for continuous writing. It is nothing to do with wear leveling or max erase cycles being exceeded but purely the thermal overloading of continuous writing. A similar thing *can* occour on inadequately cooled mechanical hard drives, at best changing the geometry of the recording making cooler random reads less reliable since there is the gemoetry changes between temperature extremes.
If your FLASH storage system (including OS and connection method) supports TRIM overwrite erasure is unecesary as TRIM practically removes data from access once deleted or formated anyway. Use Secure Erase ATA command if supported and you need to securerly remove ALL data on SSD in an engineered manner.

Theres nothing out there that can say in the public domain that can claim to erase files even by placing words like "Military and Government" on them. Theres Forensic software they (law enforcement or such) that can virtually restore the condition of the drive.
Best option is to get an angle grinder on the platters or better still, into a furnace.

Maureen, sorry you are wrong, a single overwrite of all sectors on any modern magnetic hard drive is NOT recoverable by any software, forensic or not. If such an overwrite is done of all sectors then without custom electronics the software and hardware would have zero possibility to even show there was ever something recorded on the disc before hand, even Peter Gutmann's hypotheical lab method published in his infamous paper of yore is not actually possible in practice!
You are confusing deleted and overwrite erased. Or you have watched too many NCIS, CSI and other Dramas that use it as a fictitious plot tool and you forgot to re-enable your disbelief after suspending it for thrill effect when watching it.
A furnace is not required, any heat source that causes the platters to demagnetise will suffice, taking the platters out and hanging them up from a metal wire and heating them with a butane blowtorch so they exceeed 100 degrees C will usually suffice.
Military grade or other nation state sanitation of storage media is physical destruction, because it's quicker. overwrite-Erasing a 2TB or more magnetic hard drive would take hours if not days in some cases. A bulk eraser (degauser) can make the platters unusable as it loses all traces of the magnetic patterns so the tracks no longer exist. but there is no assurance the entire surfaces of all the platters are completely degaused.
Best solution in my mind is never put on any storage media anything you cannot live with it becoming public knowledge then you don't have to be concerned about a police raid or criminal hacker hacking an online account or any machine you control or have data on.
I certainly would not trust a no name initial release of any secure data eraser. There are some significant gotchas with computer file systems that can cause data fragments to be left behind because the developer is just a learning software developer and not a filesystem expert and has only passing understanding of the prinicples of overwriting a file makes the data unreadable and that's it no knowledge of cluster slack space and the possibility that a file could have been truncated and left lots of data in the slack space the filesystem won't offer any information about...

All I want is a context menu:
"Right Click > Wipe file" or
"Right-click > Wipe folder" or
"Right-click > Wipe free space on drive"
depending on what I click on.
It should overwrite once with zeroes or random data and rename the files a few times during the operation. That would be fast and enough to protect against any "economically justifiable" recovery.
I don't want to open separate programs with fancy interfaces just to delete a file with erasing methods designed for 40 years old hardware.

1. I use "PrivaZer" to erase traces so that image and file recovery programs DO NOT find small and trifling files.
2. "PrivaZer", when deleting and selecting the type of erasure, displays a message:
1 pass: cannot be restored by recovery programs
3 passes: data recovery is impossible, even with advanced technologies
4 or more passes: inefficient, a waste of time for current disk drives.
3. You can format the media and then write a large file in size, like a flash drive / memory card.

Ivan, actually 1 pass of zeros or pseudo-random stream to clusters ends and multiple name renames has never been proven recoverable and disclosed publicly by any nation state or private lab with modern hard drives, even more secure on perpendicular recording technology. Only time you see data fragment recovery being presented as possible is in fictional TV and movie dramas. It does not happen in the real world. Even with Peter Gutmann's postulated hypothetical methods which *might* have been plausable on MFM floppy disk drives but not on any real world hard drives.
3 passes waste of time, power and thermal stress on write electronics.
