It's OK for general use only.
It's not accurate enough to trim a video with. I can't get an exact frame number. When I tried to trim the video at the start it still compiled all the start of the video.
You only get one special effect at a time with no way of making adjustments.
There are a limited amount of settings such as when changing the video bit rate.

Dimo Videomate seems to grain from entertainment value. Lots of special effects to entertain you.

Some problems with Dimo Studio products they like to hide the fact they use youtube_dl dowloader and static FFMPEG.EXE by including them in encrypted files f0.dat which is an encrypted copy of FFMPEG.EXE that is decrypted and spawned in the users %temp% folder the problem here is the build of static FFMPEG.EXE used is built for windows 7 and above and WILL NOT execute on Vista and earlier. A workaround is to get a static copy of FFMPEG.EXE and rename it to the name this suite of programs use and copy it to the users %temp% folder to overwrite the windows 7 and above build and mark it read only in file properties or adjust the security ACL settings to prevent any writes or changes to the file. That prevents these Dimo programs overwriting the renamed FFMPEG.EXE with the bad build.

The f1.dat file is the encrypted copy of youtube_dl.exe which similarly would get decrypted and executed as and when needed BUT the problem with that is it cannot be updated using youtube_dl self update feature since the program will try to keep using the OLD f1.dat copy which cannot be updated after installation. This means the video downloader will rapidly become non-functional as youtube adjusts to try and block these 3rd party downloaders and since the downloader cannot be updated it cannot adapt.

The dynamicly linked version of FFMPEG that is in the programs installation folder is an older version and renamed to kmcvt.exe built with all the command line verboseness cut out so it does not show it is an illegally used copy of dynamically linked FFMPEG.EXE that they have a legal duty to acknowledge and provide the source for and a copy of the GPLv3 license which it is covered by.

The configuration switches are still in the kmcvt.exe file so they have not hidden their deception completely:

"0003864B %sconfiguration: --enable-cross-compile --arch=x86 --target-os=mingw32 --enable-gpl --enable-shared --enable-version3 --enable-nonfree --extra-ldflags=-liconv --enable-ffplay --disable-ffprobe --disable-ffserver --extra-libs=-lstdc++ --disable-doc --disable-htmlpages --disable-manpages --disable-podpages --disable-txtpages --enable-gray --enable-filters --enable-iconv --enable-w32threads --extra-cflags=-I/usr/local/include --extra-ldflags=-L/usr/local/lib --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libfdk-aac --enable-libvpx --enable-zlib --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --disable-xlib --enable-pic --enable-libxvid --enable-frei0r --enable-libfreetype"

As you can see it has --enable-gpl and --enable-version3 which indicates it was built using the GPLv3 compile time configuration NOT the LGPLv3 configuration.

The bundled dumb web server is NOT a dedicated media server but is just a dumb http server where every individual folder you decide to "share" using this opens up a unique instance of the web server on its randomly assigned custom port... and it keeps no list of currently running servers or any controls to administer any of the instance of the servers once they have started so YOU have to note down the ports assigned to each folder you start "sharing". There is no player provided to play the "shared" content on a smart TV from inside the smart TV browser. you can only download any file you are "sharing" which is of no use to most other devices on a LAN. If you want to serve media you would be infinitly better off using a proper media server like Serviio.

The GUI for all these Dimo products does not render cleanly under terminal services in windows i.e. remote desktop.

All the output profiles also default to wildly innapropriatly high bit rates for the codecs they use and NEED to be manually edited before conversion to a sensible bitrate to avoid encoding with a lossy codec to reduce file size but have it configured to still be lossy but produce massive output files.

All that aside, this product Dimo Videomate is the best of the cut down versions of the full Video Converter Ultimate Dimo have ever offered as a giveaway so if you can deal with all the bugs and design flaws and legalities it is the one to get. Hopefully the moderators won't chop this comment about too much before publishing it.... assuming they let any of it through.

I don't know what is the difference is between the Videomate 4.6.1 and the give away earlier which was the Dimo Video Converter Ultimate. As for the looks of the programming layout, the panel face is the same.
Now, as for the Dimo Video Converter Ultimate tool, It is extraordinary, so because I have not tried the new Videomate 4.6.1, I can't say much yet. But if it follows the in any way the Ultimate tool, I think it will be a tool used by many and find worth downloading to keep.
As for the Dimo Video Converter Ultimate tool, My score is 5 Stars. *****

Sorry Top of my Comment should say:
lollyman and others looking for the code, go to [the page from readme]

Once on site page Scroll Slightly just over Half Way Down the Page, You should see a large White and
Green Box, the Left side is White and the Right side is Green.

Mark, Thanks for your help so far. Unfortunately, although I found the license code easily enough, I can't find where to enter it in the program. Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated!

lollyman and others looking for the code, go to [page provided in the readme]
Green Box, the Left side is White and the Right side is Green.
The Left Side will say Giveaway Version (Register before Nov 30th), The Right side [Green] says Full Version
NOW Look at that White side of the Box {White} Giveaway Version side, at the bottom of the Box you
should see 2 Blue rectangle shape small Boxes CLICK on the one that says Directly Get the Code
that box will be Replaced with a Setup Download link, Don't click on that Cause just under that is the
License Code, Write it Down or Highlight the code and right click and copy, open Notepad and paste
the code, anyway that is where the Code is Located on the Dimo Ad Page.
Hope that helps
Mark (Australia)

As vik highlighted, there is no Digital Signature for a NO.1 fast video converter.
Sorry, but I will have to pass on today's offer.

@ dirkje, yes it is possible to copy/paste license key.

Your screen shots and explanation helped tremendously. The vagness of the process, made it very difficult to understand (at least for me). Thanks.

Can someone tell us where to look for the license?

Reply   |   Comment by Glenn  –  7 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

On [the page included in the Readme file]
at the bottom click where it says Directly Get the Code, underneath the new setup link (no need to click on it)
is the license code.

Hello,
Would love to have it work with WinXP-SP3, ... is it possible to get an earlier version that will do that?

Reply   |   Comment by Eldad  –  7 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Eldad,

You might check the many alternatives over at videohelp[.]com, e.g. you might be able to pick up an older version of Handbrake.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  7 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

Eldad, Are you 100% certain it won't run under XP SP3? I know the spawned FFMPEG.EXE renamed to B319F132-73B7-4B84-B3D8-A4E053BBAD48.exe in the users %TEMP% folder will not run in below windows version 7 but you can work around that by obtaining an older build or a specific build of statically linked FFMPEG.EXE and rename it to "B319F132-73B7-4B84-B3D8-A4E053BBAD48.exe" and place it into the currently logged in users %TEMP% folder and change its properties so it is marked as read only in its Attributes.

It should then run as well as it does... under XP SP3 as well as Vista.

The program file "DimoVideoConverterUltimate.exe" is compiled to be recognised as a valid win32 application in windows 2000 and earlier though am not currently able to check if it uses any resources that are not provided in XP SP3 environments you'd have to check yourself. I suspect it does not in itself and it was only 3rd party stuff they have included to provide the functionality of the program that has introduced dependencies on newer versions of windows.

TK, Yes - get an error on starting it on XP, then BSOD. Installed on my 7 laptop, works fine. Thanks for your extensive help comment!

I am having the same problem. There is no where on the GiveAwayOfTheDay site, nor on the Dimo website to find the key or serial number for this software. Anyone else find it, let me know. Thanks

David Grimes,
Click "Directly Get the Code" in the giveaway AD window to get an activation code.
Maybe you should close your AD-blocker.

Copy and paste of the code from their website into the program works fine, just did it and it registered without a problem. Look for the two blue buttons next to each other after scrolling to the "How to get" section and click the one on the right.

Hi I'm centrally blind so I do not mess with a mouse so I cannot register your product. I suspect it's partly an C# coding problem since C# will not work with a screen reader without a bunch of screenshots. Oh well that's 2 I cannot use this week due to lack of being able to install. there r still 2 days left so maybe something will work lol

Took me to a trial version-went to their website on the readme text--& no way to get a serial product number as there was nothing on the giveaway page--no luck--never mind--I'm sure there will be others to register!

lollyman, check the lower part of the page, there's the option to reveal your key.

lollyman, once you did find the license code, you can't use copy and paste, you'll have to enter it by hand.

Van,
I have checked the lower part of the page. I could not find anything. I also checked the lower part of the Readme.Txt. could not find anything.
