I've run PowerDVD since something like version 3 -- currently I'm running PowerDVD 15 ultra. Essentially it's a licensed Blu-Ray & DVD player that plays the DRM laden discs you buy the same as a stand-alone player connected to your TV, with all menus & features. It supports the DTS & AC3 HD audio on many current Blu-Ray discs, though I have experienced distortion playing DTSHD using some of their true theater modes. It is one of very few players that will play 5.1-7.1 audio tracks in stereo, *evenly splitting the audio to both left & right* when using headphones -- most favor one side or the other. [Most current Blu-Ray discs only have 5.1-7.1 audio]

Beyond that are all the bells & whistles... PowerDVD's favored by a lot of people running HT [Home Theater] PCs -- [often mini or small footprint] PCs connected to their HDTVs where they store & play content -- & version 16 expands on that with their new TV mode, TV mode remote for Android etc. You also get a license to their Android player, though in my experience it's kinda meh. Cyberlink advertises that their new casting feature can convert video on the fly to better work with for example a Roku -- I'm skeptical personally... I've never been a fan of Cyberlink's encoding &/or conversion apps, & question their capability to really challenge much more popular streaming alternatives.

Cyberlink advertises PowerDVD's features to *enhance* your video... basically filtering that changes the colors, not unlike the vivid mode [& similar] you might see with PC monitors, Blu-Ray players, & HDTVs. I'm not a fan personally, preferring to calibrate displays as possible for accuracy, but if that's something you like you can often [usually?] just dive into the settings for your displays, graphics hardware, stand-alone players etc. to achieve something similar that stays with you, not just when you use PowerDVD. As far as improving movie or video display when using Windows, you might have better results using software like madVR & MPC-HC, though MPC-HC will not handle retail Blu-Ray discs with their DRM.

That all said, for me personally PowerDVD Ultra is worth the $30-$40 asking price when it goes on sale [which may not be often], because it can fully play everything on a retail Blu-Ray movie disc. I do try to stay current [16 just came out] because Cyberlink will not keep updating old versions, & without updating, PowerDVD Ultra will sooner or later not work with the latest Blu-Ray DRM. It is a larger app [the Cyberlink folder takes up ~500MB], and it adds DRM-related software to Windows.

Not clear to me:
ONLY winners get it today for free?,
Not everybody who downloads it today from GAOTD?

Is it OK to Install over older version (ver. 3)?
Is it OK to install (or update in my case) on Win XP-PRO-SP3?

Thank you for your help.

Is it OK to Install over older version? ONLY ,

I would not install the Demo version in place of any full version you already have. Demo/Free the only version available today, only winners will get full versions. I hope contests for full versions are not a permanent change to the GAOTD model.

Windows XP is not supported so you can't use it on that even if its an older version.

Is it OK to Install over older version? ONLY ,
Please, don't do that. Your licence will expire, obviously. Btw, Cyberlink PowerDVD 16 Ultra isn't a giveaway. It's a very small number of licences in the big software steeplechase - kindly sponsored by GAOTD users doing, Cyberlinks, commercials. Your product is just fine, but it is way overprized, when you can get, Leawo Bluray Player for free.
