Dear GOTD users,
please note that the registration is performed automatically at the developers side and all codes are sent away also automatically.
This procedure shouldn't take too long to wait and if this is what happened in your case:

1. try to check your ''Spam'' or ''Promotions'' folder first,
2. try to use another widely used email provider (gmail proved to have no problems with Franzis registration).

Helen, I have checked all the folders on my mail program. Nothing. The problem is, my email address is registered with Franzis so it really should not be the problem it appears to be.

Helen, I have tried several times to get a code. I have had an account with Franzis for the past several years. I have a gmail account and I have checked the junk and spam folders without finding anything. I did find several promos email from Franzis dating back a couple of weeks ago. So if you say it working I will take you word for it....except it is not working for me and it appears several others. Thank you.

Helen,
I see lots of people not receiving your email with codes.
Just want to confirm it worked perfectly for me -- although Google considers you a spammer, and I had to go and look in the junk folder.

Never received a registration email although I furnished an address that I had used previously for one of their products. I get email newsletters from them frequently so I should have been able to receive something. Disappointed.

There are 2 emails that are sent.
The first one is to confirm your registration. (this was filtered as Spam by my email client, Mailbird)
After clicking on the link in email #1 you are "confirmed"
Next, a second email is sent (this one was also filtered as Spam, even though I made sure to flag the first email as "not Spam" The 2nd one contains the stuff you need to install the reg version.

The 1st email came almost immediately, the 2nd took about 10min.

Downloaded and installed the program fine. When I open it then close it, I get a popup that has the circle X with all wording in some sort of Asian language and an OK button. I have no idea what it is saying because as I said the popup language is Asian. What is the problem and has anyone else experienced this?

I hope I am not supposed to read all that was already posted. GOTD is a bit unfair to people who make long days outside the house and then have very little time to figure something out.

My problem is that I am already registered with Franzis and don't see a blue button for the registration code. I only see one that let me request to resend registration codes for earlier installed programs.

What to do??

I received the download link in my email and was able to download the zip file just fine. I used someone's suggestion to copy user id and code into Notepad then copy from there into prog and that worked well too. Have to say I was not happy with all the information the website wanted and having to sign up in order to get the codes though.

I was having a problem with the registration code in the trial version box and read what Richard .. # 23 said about copying the code into another program and then copy/paste from there .. It seemed to work as the trial version window went away and hasn't returned so I can assume it registered.
Thanks Richard

I don't know why you have problems registering this program ... ??? Everything is described as for a child. You have to read, read and read again !!! When it comes to the program itself, I'm not too delighted. But I didn't fully recognize him yet. There are better programs but I will not advertise them because it is not my style. Thank you and good luck!

I always read the comments prior to downloading. Seems a lot of people are not able to get this thing registered. I figured I would give a try just to see. I unzipped the program into a new folder then opened the readme.txt file. I then double clicked the Setup.exe and the very next window I clicked "Internet" and was taken to a page to enter my email address (must be one you have access to). I got a confirmation email with a special link to go to which would confirm/validate my email address. I had trouble just clicking on the link so I copied it and pasted it into a new Tab on my browser. Went right to the page with no problems. It indicated I would get another email with my personal customer number and my registration number ... I got it. I then went and pasted these 2 numbers into that very first screen that popped up after double clicking the Setup.exe in the beginning. Once the 2 numbers were entered the setup continued and finished with no problems. The first time I ran the program it asked again for the registration number, which I put in and it's now fully working.

Thank you,
swiker

Well, regardless of the number of people not getting their emails, I thought I would try it as I've not had any problems before. Darn if I waited over 30-minutes. Checked all folder. Had email program get mail 3-times. Never got the email to continue with installation properly.

Sadly I uninstalled without even using it. I would recommend PhotoScissors as it is very good at removing backgrounds much, much easier. Also, has a few other nice functions too.

I've been sending the request since this morning and I've checked my spam, and all my other folders, and it's not coming through. I would like to give this program a try. Does anyone have a suggestion? Last time the developer sent me an email directly with the link embedded. Hopefully this developer will do the same. Thanks.

Itsjustme,
Your email was added to the block list. Please note that our download letter includes two links - one to download the program and another to unsubscribe from our emails in case you received it accidentally.

Looks like you clicked the wrong one some time before.
Now your email is restored and you should have no problems with getting the download.

Please pay more attention to the links!

GOTD team

Reply   |   Comment by Helen  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Helen, so let me see if I understand, as I DO PAY ATTENTION TO THE LINKS! If I unsubscribe to your news letter, since I visit your site every morning I don't need another email in my overcrowded inbox, then I won't receive ANY link that will contain the information necessary to download a program? You should delineate this fact more precisely. Make this clearer in the description of the unsubscribe button. It should say something like, "If you select the unsubscribe, be aware that this blocks ALL communications from our site, not just the daily newsletter."

Reply   |   Comment by Itsjustme  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Itsjustme,
no, you got the idea wrong.

The usual daily email subscription has nothing to do with the unsubscribe option provided in the download letter. The download letter includes the unsubscribe link in case you got the letter accidentally and don't want to receive any more letters from us. Only pressing THIS link adds your email to the entire block list (and it really impresses me how many similar requests we get from the users pressing this link instead of the download one). It takes just a second to read first what you press.

The usual unsubscribe option lets you ask for the download links.
I hope I've answered your question clearly!

Managed to activate it- opened the prg which also asks you to activate again,... played for a bit,.. closed it and then reopened again- and once again the prg asks me to activate again with the complicated number? So I am guessing that it will automatically not work at all tomorrow? Anyone else reopen the prg and having this happen?

Martina Erskine, After reading your comment I gave it a try. Closed it and reopened it and it did not ask for the code again. Did you try copying the code into Notepad or such, then copying it from there to the program? Not sure why, but evidently that seems to help.

Cutout 5 Pro makes this the fifth free GOTD program offer from FRANZIS. I find all of their softwares to be pretty good. Once you've created/established an account at FRANZIS.com, registration becomes super simple to do. The email for the reg code I requested came instantly. I ran the installer input the ID number and the reg code number which allowed me to install the program. Once installation was finished, it requested that I input the reg code, once again, to finalize the registration process. Done!! I've been using the standard version of Cutout 5 for some time and now it's time for me to test out the pro features. I was excited to see that they offered the Pro version this time around. Thanks GOTD &FRANZIS for teaming up on offering this great piece of software in which you can erase the background of a pic and then replace that void with another background. Now I can make it look like I was in Australia's outback.

chris,

Personally, I do not like online editors. For security reasons I prefer a standalone, local application.

So CutOut 5 Pro fits my preference nicely.

If needed, one can find some excellent tutorials in English on youtube how to use this program.

Cheers,

I bought CutOut 5 Pro in 2015. The current version is 8 or 9.

CutOut 5 is a great program for cutting out a person or object from a digital image. It presents an easier way than Photoshop does.

For free, I'd install CutOut 5 (except I have paid ver 7).

That was about the most complicated, confusing, and even deceptive registration process I've seen here at GOTD. The deceptive part: When you're instructed to enter all that personal info, actually the *only* required info is your email. (There's an almost invisible notice with the [ * ] at the bottom of the page, and the email field is the only one with it.) It appears to be a quality program -- why do they need to resort to all this?

If you work with photos, CUTOUT 5 Pro is probably worth a look, mainly because Franzis software is usually worth a look, if only a quick one. If nothing else it takes up just 18 MB, giving you another option if you’re having problems getting the results you want using your favorite app(s). When it comes to photo editing object selection tools, I’ve become jaded… they’ve been coming up with new & improved tools for decades, and while the latest products are easier than ever, they have yet to provide any real improvement in the quality of results. The best results you can get using CUTOUT aren’t going to be much different than the best results you can get using comparable tools – the difference is in how you get there, in how much work you have to do. [There’s one possible exception I’ll try to explain below.]

CUTOUT 5 makes the initial selection easy – you draw a loose outline outside the area you want to select, then draw a similar outline inside that area -- and the first results may be good enough for your purposes – if not, it provides more tools to refine the selection. CUTOUT 8 makes it easier yet & is definitely worth a look if you like how today’s version 5 works. In my opinion PSP 2020 is easier, while P/Shop’s latest version using AI takes the crown, but that’s me.

Today’s CUTOUT 5 Pro is a bit of a PITA since it only starts full-screen, and annoyingly, with the win10 taskbar set to Autohide, the task bar won’t pop up when you move the curser to the bottom of the screen. Had to Alt + Tab to view the email with registration data to activate it. The plug-ins for CUTOUT 5 Pro & Std. are in folders in the program’s folder – you must copy/paste them manually [sometimes copy/pasting shortcuts works better with Franzis apps] – which is actually a plus when it comes to Franzis. Some Franzis software tries to copy them into place during setup, usually getting it wrong [particularly with the older versions given away], so you have to play games finding the plug-ins and getting them where you want them. With giveaways like today’s CUTOUT 5 Pro, Franzis puts the real setup app in a wrapper that’s expanded into the User temp folder once you copy/paste the key in the dialog. I normally try to save that setup file for future use, and I also open it using Universal Extractor to get the plug-ins, making sure I have them. The real setup file for CUTOUT 5 Pro however is locked – it will not run to install the app. That said, once you install CUTOUT 5 Pro or Std., you can copy the program’s folder to another copy of Windows, where it’ll run and activate just fine [I have 2 copies of win10 on this PC, & I do that rather than run setup twice]. There is a 32 & 64-bit version.

It’s important to note that using CUTOUT, or any other selection apps &/or tools, the image itself can play a Big part in how well things turn out. A photo has continuous tone, without sharp, well defined edges like you see in graphics [e.g. charts etc.], but the amount of noise in a photo, the amount of clarity, how sharp the picture is, all effect how well edges are defined [or not]. An object edge or border may span across 2 or 3 pixels, or it may take a half dozen, or dozen, or with a particularly noisy photo, you may be hard pressed to even see an edge when you’ve zoomed in using a photo editor. If you’re selecting an area to apply whatever FX, that doesn’t matter a whole lot, and if you’re trying to remove an object, it may not matter a lot, but when you’re trying to cut out and save an object, the sharpness of the edge or border can be critical. While one app or tool might not be all that much better at finding an edge than another, competing app or tool, using CUTOUT you *may* be able to improve the existing edge, e.g. in a noisy photo, & with the selection based on that, it may give better results. You *might* also achieve the same thing reducing noise &/or sharpening the image before trying to make a selection using other tools, but this sort of thing really varies depending on the technical quality of the image itself.

If this came with the PS plugin as does the paid version, it would be of more use to me. I prefer to do all my editing within Photoshop. Other than that this app is good.

Nice software. Easy to install and register. I wish they had also offered the Mac version - I have CutOut 5 standard from a previous offer and use it quite frequently. The use of plugins is a nice bit of functionality.

As usual Franzis.de/software-projects have offered a great piece of software.

Oh yes...and the user manual is VERY good.

Installed without any problem and works well as a standalone product and once I copied across the relevant plugins to the Photoshop folder I tested it out that way, too. I'm impressed. I took an image of a woman with curly hair that would have been nigh on impossible to extract manually and within a minute or so it had extracted it very nicely. I then compared it to the result of using Photoshop's own refine edges method, which took longer, required more manual work brushing over the curls, and the results weren't that much better anyway, not without a lot of mucking about. Given many users won't have access to Photoshop and its high end editing this is a superb bit of software - if it is compatible with GIMP I'd definitely recommend it!

If you look on YouTube there's a few tutorials on getting the best out of this one, which are well worth watching.

Probably worth all the effort. Franzis makes good products that use their own conventions. There are some training videos on YouTube ... look for the English language ones.

I think the interface is overly complicated by having many, many tools -- hiding the ones essential to cutting out.

I prefer to use Photoshop to do my editing and having to learn what all the new tools are is not something I want to do.

The program PhotoScissors is much simpler to use, but probably not nearly as effective.

Second download extracted, program clicked on, security dialog comes up, click OK, cursor with hourglass for a few seconds, then nothing.
Checked task manager, it is not running.
Any suggestions?

I am sorry to say as a registered user of Franzis I have repeatedly asked for the registration code to be sent resent and resent but so far after nearly two hours nothing. This despite the website stating the code is "resend"(sic). I read that the original (standard) registration works with this version but of course it doesn't. Looks like I will have to stick with the standard version.

guernsey,
We all make mistakes and i was cursing the last Franzis giveaway for the same reason - very frustrating til I realised that the usual email address could't be used with Franzis and that I had in fact, used a totally different one.

guernsey,

I'd suspect your email service is blocking it -- a false positive on their spam filter. For me it was almost instant.

For you guys getting the invalid error messages try copy and pasting the numbers to notepad or any text editor that does not format your text first and then copying and pasting to the program from notepad.

A lot of times when you copy something from an email or any program that formats your text you end up with an extra space added.

I just downloaded the program and the whole process took less than 10 minutes from the time I unzipped it to completing the registration process.

Also while the form does ask for a whole lot of info none of it is required to start the account. If you look for the * the only thing that is required is the email so you do not have to enter in all your personal information if you do not want to (and I did not) and it still works.

Richard, I've copied the registration code to Notepad, and I still get the "This license key cannot be used with the current version" error message. The registration code allowed me to install it, so I suspect there is some issue with the activation server on their end. Unnecessarily convoluted registration process.

Richard, Thank you, that worked for me.

Afraid I'm not impressed. I have used Paint Shop Pro 5 for a very long time and when I see new editing tools praised as "one click" editing, I get curious. But I always go back to PSP5. I have no idea how this program is supposedly a "one click" cutout, nor do I see any advantage over my old program. Maybe I just don't know how to do it - this is very possible, even likely. I did not manage to cut out anything from the picture. But it is not as easy as it pretends to be. There is nothing "intuitive" here that I see. I am sure it is a good program, but I don't see it as any better than what I already have and know how to use. Thank you anyway, GAOTD.

I've clicked the blue button "Request registration code." 15 minutes later still haven't received a USER-ID and personal registration code and nowhere to request a resend

I can't get the software code to register. I was emailed a user ID and registration code, which I used to INSTALL the program. But after install, the program said it was 30 day trial. And it pop up a section to register or buy. I enter the code (by pasting) and click "OK" but it said the code is incorrect.
