It was installed and activated. Now when I attempt to run it, the program doesn't fully launch. I get a system tray icon that when moused over disappears. Nothing else.

Since this isn't supported by the terms of the agreement, I can't recommend it to anyone.

First impression was a good one. The program is easy to use, very useful without any apparent inconvenience. But! I had to remove it today because it was causing problems to the windows clock and calendar. The date changed 5 times in last 2 hours without restarting or resetting the computer.

2David: Just look at the wallpaper data-options to get rid of the desktop calendar.

Reply to #2 (Kevin); I tried to help with your question regarding the fonts for the side bar but I'll have to screw around with it as I couldn't figure it out either.
Although I don't use the side bar I found the transparency feature to be very interesting and well-thought-out by the program developers.
All-in-all, guys/gals of the project team; it's a helluva program and one I'll be using every day.
I spent $20 for another calendar program without the address book feature and, although I like it, it can't come close to the features that Cute Organizer offers.
And you're giving this little gem away for FREE?! What - are you people on a Meth high???

Has anyone worked out how to stop it from adding a calender to the desktop?

Once installed & with a logIn Identity, is this the program activation? Can't register it, still get the message that 14 uses exist of which 1 is being used, & payment option to be selected!

I have installed and registered others, but can't figure out how to register the Voicecall Utility. Do you use the same ID as for Cute Organizer? And where do you put the ID in for Voicecall?

To change the calender you have to go to tools then wallpaper. You can change the side bar from there

Geeze what a bunch of cry babies. read the directions and then FOLLOW them and it will work. If you don't like the concept then go somewhere else. Personally I think it's a great idea and I haven't run into a single problem. BUT if I do I won't whine about it because...are you listining....IT'S FREE

it´s nice and working fine. guess i´ll love it.

I had no problems installing or activating, but it is unstable. If I tried to add a Task, the entire program closes. If I try to turn on the Wallpaper - nothing shows up.

I've tried it several times now on Vista and it just doesn't work here. The program starts up but after about 5 seconds, the main window disappears and then the tray icon disappears. Happens every time, even on a fresh install of Vista.

Reply to #25 (Anne) - I have downloaded a few of the programs from this site and have not had trouble with installation. First you unzip the folder that contains the files. There should be three: an activation file, the installation/program file, and a readme file. I click on the activation file first, BEFORE running the installation program, and I get a clean install. Just double-click on activate.exe icon (make sure you are connected to the internet) and the process should take about 2-3 seconds. Then you can click on the install icon.

I know this is a dumb question...but this is the first time I have tried to download a giveaway item.

How do you "activate"? I downloaded it, I opened it, got the pop-up to purchase the program. I read the previous posts about running "activate.exe" however, cannot find this .exe anywhere in the programs folder.

I activated mine with no problem and get no pop-ups telling me I have a trial version. However, the program behaves strangely. When I do a right click on the calendar, for example, and choose a task it makes the program disappear and only the time/program icon shows in my tray. When I point to the time/program icon with my cursor, the icon disappears. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

DT, in this case the software will only work if the activation entries weren't removed by this rollback. We understand that this is a hassle, but it's a necessary one - we need to protect the software company.
If we just start posting license keys here, no software companies will work with us, that is - no giveaways. As long as it is a time limited window of opportunity, Giveaway doesn't hurt their sales. Unlimited opportunity to grab the software for free will definitely hurt them and our visitors as well.

Heather, the installation file you received in the downloadable package is a trial version but once you activate it, it is yours to keep. You can use as long as you like it. You should activate the software within 24 hours period, and that's it.

I spent a few minutes with the program, but I don't really like it. I already have a free program (really free, not temporarily free) called MiniMinder that handles the calendar/reminder functions for me, and I don't really need the address book, let alone one that forces me to delete BS entries like Jennifer Lopez upon install. Talk about counter-intuitive! Plus, there are tons of typographical errors. I feel bad for any Carpicorns who need to keep track of their shedules. The sidebar is a sort of neat feature, but unless you dock it on the left it will just get in the way on Windows Vista. Even then, that's a lot of wasted screen space! That makes the program not worth downloading, even for free, because there will be no upgrades to remedy this. Consider this an extended free trial.

Everyone who is concerned with their "what if" scenarios need to realize that this is just another method of advertising for these software companys. You get the full version for free on the day of the give away, but if say 2 months down the road you have some "what if" come up and would be required to reinstall then you simply go out and purchase the software if you liked it so much. Doesn't hurt to support the folks that make the product especially if you are benefiting from it.

Come on, guys! The software is free if you are lucky to activate it the same day. If you have to reinstall it later you simply have bad luck. Compare it to a discount on a product - it's only valid for a certain period. If you are late, bad luck. And don't forget that the keys probably won't work on updates...

Wow, what do people want for free, you take a change when you download free programs. If you have a problem with your computer, it's the fault of this web site. Everyone has problems once in a while and looses information/programs. Give this site a break. I've also lost programs because of having to restore my computer, it's not the end of the world. If you loose something that you did not pay for, that's life. Sometimes we loose things that we pay money for.

I understand about the activation, but I STILL get a 'trial' popup. I loved the 3D screensaver and would love to DL this, but I am not going to keep downloading to only receive the trial version. So, even after it is 'activated' what if you have to reload the software? Is there some sort of way to reactivate?

Guys, you need to activate the software to get rid of the popup/trial limitations. Install the software, close it, run activate.exe, run the software -there should be no pop-ups.

I understand that you can only activate the free software on the day of the 'Giveaway', but what happens if you have to perform a rollback to a previous XP restore point to correct something on your PC? I had this problem and I submitted this issue to support via the Contact Form, but never got a response back. Apparently the rollback either removed the activation code in the registry or removed the activation file from the hard drive.

I also had a problem activating the JetStart Pro application on the day it was given away. I posted my problem and it was there for a short time, but then they removed it with no answer.

The idea for the site is good, but their policy and method of activation (only works on the day of the giveaway) is a real issue for me. What if I'm not at home to download and install it on the day of the giveaway? If I can't install/re-install it again at a later date for whatever reason, do I really want to become dependent on this 'FREE' software?

My preferred method of evaluating new software is to load it in a virtual machine and really test it out before I load it on my real machine. To thoroughly test some new software, it takes more than a day to see if it's worth having. Who wants to clutter up their primary machine with a bunch of worthless stuff that may or may not uninstall cleanly?

There are too many hassles involved with the activation process. If I get something for FREE, but can't really get full use out of it, then the value is exactly what I paid for it --nothing. There are too many open source/freeware applications out there that are free and can be installed and uninstalled at will. They come without the activation problems and are frequently updated.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the 'FREE' GiveAwayOfTheDay stuff (I do really appreciate getting good quality software for free), but it seems that this activation model is doomed for failure in the long run.

Just my 2 cents.

After I download I get a popup everytime I open Cute Organizer saying I'm on day 1 of my 14 day trial. Did I really download the full/free version? Or will this go away after 14 days since this is a free copy? Thanks! I'm loving the free downloads!

What happens if after downloading & installing - say in 1 months time the program corrupts and you need to install again - Will it install again or is all your effort, your data, contacts etc lost for good?
