You do not need any extra software to recover data from your iCloud. Just use a browser and log in into icloud.com, using your Apple-ID and your password.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does this offering do? Is it storage? If so, how much? Or is it a third party program that works with iCloud storage???

It always comes to the trust issue, do you believe in the iCloud storage and do you trust the iCloud providers.
In the past decade, I used numerous iCloud backup companies, today, non of them is business, all of that data (uploads and downloads) was lost when those companies folded their business.
It is not the payment (subscription issue), it is the trust in the iCloud. No company can guarantee that your data will always be there for you, now and in the future.
Please do not get it wrong, this company is solid company and can provide the storage as needed, but that shadow of the doubt will always hang around.

mike, isn't there only ONE iCloud storage provider, Apple themselves? Could you be confusing iCloud backup with non-Apple generic Cloud backup providers for Windows and Android devices?
This company is not providing iCloud or any other Cloud storage SPACE but providing a program that can access the formal Apple iCloud backup files and enable recovery of that data without the original Apple iPhone or iPad or iPod.

There's only one Apple, which is Very Much in biz today. While briefly valued at over $3 Trillion, it was valued at $2465.85 Billion 3/17/23. The likelihood of them going broke & closing down iCloud, at least during your lifetime, is probably 'bout the same as retiring to a resort on Jupiter.

mike, I guess everybody adult can trust their own intuition concerning their own life. They have no need for an random guy talking about his own experience. These experiences can come from your own life, your own choices, and the way you followed your own intuitions. If you made some bad choices in your life that speaks about your bad guidance. That can happen to anybody, even to those who follows the advice of random guys from the net. But neither to those whose intuition, inner voice is on the spot.
