I love Astro Gemini screen savers. They always help set a mood in our house for the different holidays throughout the year. Unfortunately this one asks for a registration code every time I run it or try to change settings but none was included with the software. I've never had this issue with these savers before. I see two other people have this issue but no response from the developer.

Hi All, Well, I installed and setup the new Christmas Screen Saver and it worked perfect.. There was some comments that it would not work on Windows 7? But not to much "What went wrong?" or "What Happened?" I can give you my install and maybe it would help? I'm Running an AMD 3.4 GHz 6 Core Bulldozer, On a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 MB, with 16GB HIGH Speed RAM. I have a EVGA GeForce GTX 650SC with 2 GBs of GDDR5 Memory, And a LG 3D LED 23" Monitor, The install went just as it said and the registration was done before I even opened up the Setup Screen. The first time I ran it the edges of the trees etc. looked a little jagged. If you Open the setup screen for the Screen Saver, Right in the Middle of the setup page there a setting for Antialiasing and I tuned that "ON" and set it to Full Screen Antialiasing and to Number 8 and saved it. That took care of everything? The 3D is as good as most of any games I play and it looks Very Good. Its got lots of animation going from Snow falling and Birds flying through, And setting on the park Bench, The Rabbits bouncing around, The Lights twinkle and to me anyway it looks real good! Its a nice homey Feeling and nice soft music. Your only going to use it about 2 or maybe 3 weeks out of the year?
I think for the price (FREE) Its a Very Nice jester, I look at it more like a little Christmas Gift from Astro Gemini Software, And GOTD! So I thank them Very Much for Giving us a Nice Gift to make the Holidays and New Year a little Brighter and nicer, Thank You!
SO, for Me, I give it 2 Thumbs Up! And For Astro Gemini Software, And GOTD, Thank You! Very Nice! For them and everyone at GOTD and Everyone that Uses and Enjoys GOTD Out there, I would like to take one Minute to just Wish Everyone a Very Mary Holiday, And a Very Happy New Year! If your Traveling? Please Be Safe and Take your Time! Better a little late and NOT at ALL! And Have a Wonderful HAPPY NEW YEAR.. Thank You, Rick D.

Installed everything just fine and this is a cool screen saver. It really gets one into the holiday spirit and I'm glad to have this. Thank you GOTD and Astro Gemini!

Well, I'm very happy to have this screensaver. Looking at the comments and votes I was leary, but here's how I get the best out this wonderful program. Installed on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. After clicking on the settings, registration window comes up, clicked cancel and the settings window opens. I tried all the resolution settings, but settled for the highest 32bit resolution, which cleaned up the rough edges. Then I unchecked play music and show clock time, so I could play my own library of Christmas songs on WMP. It's a very nice screensaver or ambiance mood setter, I run on both my large screen TV and computer monitor (full widescreen) at the same time and just in time for Christmas! Thank you GOTD and Astro Gemini Software!!!

Excellent piece of software. Installed on Windows Vista with no problems (other than wanting a reg code when clicking on settings). I'm not much on screensavers, but for the holidays, this is definitely a keeper. Thanks!!

Downloaded with no problem. Installed and worked great on Windows XP. I only wish that it didn't set itself up as the default screensaver. No problem though as I had to be in that control panel to test it. But if I'd just wanted to install and test later, it would have been in there anyway.

9 out of 10 - thumbs up. Thanks Astro-Gemini and GOTD.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!!!

If you, personally, don't like screensavers, that's fine; but it's no reason to vote negatively on every one offered here. (I have an interest in perhaps 25% of GAOTD's offerings, that doesn't mean I give a thumbs down to the other 75%.)

This screensaver is attractive, serene, and seasonal. It's also free.

But I do question if it's actually registered. After installing, the GAOTD site said it was, but on running the first thing I see is a screen asking for registration. (This has occurred only once previously - with AusLogic Defrag, which "registered" but the next day presented me a popup "you are on day 29 of your 30 day free trial".)

I'm sorry, but I cannot concur with the first #1 comment.

I do concur with those than WARN you away from FREEZE.

I have to admit that FREEZE does offer very appealing screen savers, however . . . . . . .

If you want your system infested then go ahead and install some FREEZE screensavers, and when your system slows down and you start receiving tons of SPAM email don't say you weren't warned. Need Proof? Go ahead and install a FREEZE screensaver and then run your favorite malware (Anti-Spyware) scanner. I suggest running scanners of any type in "SAFE MODE" to get the most accurate results. If your scanner won't run in "SAFE MODE" then it isn't worth even installing on your system.

Current monitors have more than adequate refresh rates so screensavers are no longer needed to prevent the negative effects of the older monitors. And so screensavers are a personal decision; you either like them or you don't.

If you don't like screensavers that is not an adequate enough reason to give the screensaver a negative rating.

So does the screensaver do what it says it will do? If it does it deserves a thumbs up. And if you give it a thumbs down how about sharing with the rest of us the reason why; assuming that's not too much trouble.

A fun soft for the Christmas season. Works OK out of the box though there's a glitch when it comes to adjusting settings because a fly-out box asks for name and licence number (just click 'Cancel'). Still, once you've figured out the setting you're happy with, you shouldn't need to worry about maing changes.

Biggest drawback for me is that AstroGemini does tend to be in love with 4:3 ratio stuff in an era when 16:9 widescreen has been prevalent since at least 2007.

I'm running a Vista OS computer with ATI Radeon HD 3450 Graphics and a standard landscape desktop of 1680 x 1050. There's nothing unusual about 1680 x 1050 except that it doesn't figure in this screensaver's settings. 1440 x 900 is also a commonplace for widescreen monitors but no sign of it either in the screensaver's settings.

This obviously doesn't bother other posters enthusing about this software because they've never mentioned the settings issue. Doesn't much bother me either because it's not a screensaver for my benefit but for the grandkids to look at when they're over during the season's holidays.

As to how it works, well: as the old saying goes, your mileage will vary. The graphics and rendering and motion are all perfectly fine in my experience: 'jerkiness' complained of by others is a reflection of the computer being used (especially if it doesn't have its own stand-alone graphics card) and not a software flaw.

In truth, AstroGemini has done good job here: the screensaver is imaginative, colourful, sharp, and pleasing. If I could get it to run wide-screen rather than 4:3 format with black bars either side, the effect would've been even more pleasing. As it stands, and despite the effort that's gone into it, I prefer my full-screen animated desktop created with last week's outstanding GOATD offer.

Thanks, GAOTD, and thanks, AstroGemini: a keeper for Christmas and the New Year holiday. And as usual, the senseless thumbs up / thumbs down votes on this page don't remotely reflect the calilbre of today's offer. . .

@5 and @11

Just uncheck and click on decline on the offers I also did mention in my post that little piece of information.

"Just make sure to uncheck all the stuff you don’t want…" Guess I should of placed it in CAPS... and for those who are used to sandboxie just install it inside a sandbox extract the screensaver and wipe the rest should you not be able to read what's on the screen.

nightbeforechristmas.exe for example is Accept, Decline on Ask toolbar, Decline on Registry Helper, Deckine on the Norton, Decline on the Install Uninstall Helper and voila no trash installed...

Just a browser page that opens like giveawayoftheday that does the same thing.

But Astro Gemini Software has been kind enough to offer today's screensaver so unless your having more than one christmas or having a problem with todays GOTD I suggest for the non tech savy to avoid freeze. But for those who are used to opt outs by all means check some of them out they are nice (I'm sure they can be found elsewhere also)

I'm still enjoying the one we received not too long ago with the snowy house.

Installed with no issues on Win7/64 bit.

Music and scenery is good however the edges of the various animations could be a little smoother. When I went into settings, it did ask for a user name and registration code . . . not sure why that is happening.

Installed this on a Win 7 32 bit Lenovo X61 tablet which might have a bearing on my impressions - The graphics were clunky; the scenery average; the sound was good but when terminated I couldn't even get ctrl+alt+del to break out of the black screen I was left with.

So it was a power off/on and uninstall

Hi Everyone,

I use F-Secure and have never had any installation problems installing GOTD software until the last few days. I know get informed that a Virus (generic Trojan was removed), but I'm not sure if your installer has changed or it's because F-secure Internet Security has been updated from 2012 to the 2013.

Detection Names : Generic.malware.[variant], Generic.[variant],
gen:win32.malware.[variant],Gen:variant.[variant]
Category: Malware

I love some of the software off this site, as I'm disabled and cannot afford to purchase lots of new software, plus the kids really like the games. Keep up the good work and can I say a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to yourselves and everyone using this site.

Thanks,
Ian

First of all Thanks to Garrett for Warning us on "Freeze" software. Wish noone here would Recommend a Software without Warning the users.

Installed A-OK on Vista Hm Prem.,X64, a Gateway with Intel T5750, 2.00GHz and Graphics ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 (so fairly decent Graphics Card).

Graphics are a bit choppy, Music is Good, Love the Rabbits, Birds and the flow of the Animation.

Wish we could get Some more Christmas ScreenSavers ... from Gemini or some other company.

May be Gemini will offer these also: 3D Merry Christmas Screensaver, Winter Night 3D Screensaver, Winter Night 3D Screensaver.

BTW, I remember I had seen a Fireplace Screensaver with Christmas Music ... does anyone know where can be had!?!?

Thanks Gemini & GOTD!:)

Downloaded ok. Plays ok when tested, but it does not stay put. In other words, it does NOT start by itself. I put it as my screensaver, wait and wait and wait and wait and when I go to desktop properties and click screensaver tab, it says "none". I have some other screensavers that do the same thing.

This screensaver installed perfectly on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit machine and works perfectly.SOME of us enjoy screensavers even though "they are no longer necessary"...and this one is quite relaxing and enjoyable. The music and sond effects(SFX) can be turned on or off in "settings". Those who post anonymously on here negative votes or who are constantly ranting about the price(when it is a giveaway for FREE) TIRE ME!

Please don't download the screensaver that Shawn suggested in post one. Freeze software is complete adware garbage.

The music is decent but the graphics aren't realistic. This may not bother you depending on what you expect, though. But worst of all, it doesn't cover two monitors.

Installed fine in Vista Home/32 without issues and activated without a key. License agreement calls it shareware and permits free distribution. Although screensavers aren't needed much today, I like this one as a mood enhancer left running on your computer to produce a festive Christmas holiday scene in 3-D. There is a lot of motion and the artwork isn't childish looking. It has an almost video quality and pans the snow covered landscape as snowflakes drift in, birds fly and perch on a park bench. The Christmas tree lights blink and the scenery is attractive. It's better quality that many online greeting cards. It's a nice "mood enhancer" and a keeper! Thanks, GOTD... and Merry Christmas!

Once again, I don't use screen savers anymore. I will click a good one on and watch it for a while.
It is however, a well made little item that is nice to watch and is very relaxing.
It is not necessarily a Christmas screen saver, it is a beautiful winter scene.
Screen saver settings in Control Panel has different possibilities and does not show the registration screen.
Pro's: Yep!
Cons: Nah!
Free screen savers: Go look if you must!
'Nuff said!
