Just to let you know no problem install but would not burn a cd of my choice. It then kept comming up with error on runnind programme so I tried it their way and yes it works but will not play cd on a cd player unless it is a up to date one. so sorry uninstalled it no go this time will stick with ashampoo in future.

I have several of the GAOTD offers from various venders and I keep going back to the same one over and over. I never see this mentioned here at all...it is from DVDVideoSoft and is Free Studio Manager. Check it out, It can do pretty much anything you are looking for in Audio/DVD/MP3/MP4 etc etc

#4, have you ever heard of Ableton, Avira, Data Becker, BlueSystems (involved in projects like Kubuntu, MintKDE, Netrunner), GData, Magix, MainConcept (SDK Development), Nero, O&O, Steinberg (CUBASE)? They were all german companies but hey, just say no, other people know them and enjoy using solutions from them.

First I have to say I already own this software so I can't comment on installing this from GAOTD.
I am amazed at the amount of negative comments today, this is quality software. This is pro soft made to be easy to use, and it is. Does what it says. Have never had a problem with it, and I do a lot of burning.

@ #59 - Google is your best friend. Do a search for "software dvd author". It'll probably give you 10,000 results ;) Now if you add "best" or "review" to that search, you will be much further ahead than asking here because everyone has a different level at which they want to "author". Author for playing on my DVD; Making my own menus; making my own feature film from my own DV footage; editing and combining movie clips.

Think about how deep you want to go and try out some trial editions to see what works for you.

In December a DVD burner was given away called Aiseesoft DVD Creator 5.1.20 & is 150% better than this one loved it so much that I went & deleated it & paid the publisher for it so I'd get the up datesyes she maybe a bit slow in writing discs, but unlike this one, you can once done play it straight on your DVD Player or BD Player

I have to say this has to be the funniest giveaway ever. Don't be paranoid about Germany. They have more U.S. Army bases than you would imagine. Maybe diabolical is the New and Improved version. Can someone tell me which burners will properly author a disc to play on a regular DVD player (not just on a PC)?

Let's take DVDShrink, it was available in it's advanced DeCSS edition for a long time, offered from the biggest german download sites, since there were big changes in the law for softwares and their legality, no one is able to get those programs the official way, all versions miss the DeCSS feature or any other bypass-feature for copy protections.

This programme does not work with Windows 8 64 bit as stated above, with W7 64 bit either. Also tried downloading from their website. I've got the code but the programme does not open itself.
Pity of the 2-3 hours wasted trying to make it work...

I always read the comments as a basis for my decision for whether or not to download and try the giveaway.
On this one I will pass. Here is why:
1. There seems to be nobody caring about the registration issue which many users have complained about. The day has passed and nobody gave any help with the issue. Bad policy, indeed!
2. There is an abundance of software of this genre available for free in the internet, so why would anybody bother with this payware, which seems to have no advantages at all.
3. The giveaway is an old version of a software which costs less than this vintage package. Why would anybody spend more money for vintage software than for the new release?
4. It is very doubtful to me that behind this really is a German company. It just doesn't seem likely to me after what I see here today.

Like those who continually complain about Chinese software vendors, your comment has a ring of xenophobia to it. German software is among the best engineered in the world. Likewise many of the evolving software development houses in other central and eastern European countries. Mutatis mutandis, I always aim to support these central and eastern European and Chinese software products by preference over the dominant players. I have other Engelmann products and they are effective and very reliable; I'm looking forward to trying out today's offering. Say NO to xenophobia.

I tried 3 times to install this and kept getting a error message saying a error occurred during the installation of assembly microsoft.VC80.CRT, there was more to the message, I have never had a problem installing anything on my computer so I will leave this one alone

Worked once now just goes round in circles asking for serial number before crashing. Tried re-installing but with same result. Thanks GAOTD. The price is right on this one!

Re my earlier problem with AOL email suppression/delay of license keys, NO, it does not wind up in my SPAM folder, either. It is simply being discarded, or delayed by hours. If I request it again to my Gmail or Hotmail accounts, it arrives almost instantly.

Still not receiving the license information.

GOTD and developers: AOL's email servers/spam filters are completely blocking and/or delaying more and more of the free license key information for GOTD's software. (The sudden volume of email from the same vendor on "giveaway day" may cause the email to appear as spam or threat or Denial of Service attacks to AOL. Is there a way to ensure that every GOTD offering includes a way to re-initiate the license request? Otherwise, we have to do a complete re-install!

I'm sure this CDRWIN software will be great, as prior versions have been!

I downloaded it and installed it but it does not work. I installed it twice -once disabling the antivirus, another with the antivirus enabled- still no success. Tried trouble shooting compatibility, still nothing happens, the programme does not open itself. Windows 7 64bit, Intel Core 2.50 Ghz, 6.00 gb RAM. Any idea of why?

Is GOTD using the Zoom downloader now or is it just me and my computer? Zoom always puts trash on my machine even when I decline everything.

Ok Loaded on an Acer Aspire G7459 Laptop with W7Pro64. 500mb HDD and 8G Ram..I am blown away, this ripped a copy of a Disney Movie I already own and had unsucessfully tried to copy with Nero & my trusty DVD Decripter

So yah, It's a keeper :)
