Having had an interest in Titanium for many years, I find your post an interesting read, Whilst I am not totally in agreement with some of your points, I must say it is well written.

Version 2.6 is OK for FireFox, but users (not administrators) still working with Microsoft's Clipbrd.exe may discover that it will not hold copies any more.

After I installed CCfile transfer and read some of the other posting I checked my virus proctection. Panda Titanium and Firewall 2007 which I have been using for a long time and have never had a virus or any kind of spyware or trojan. After checking I discovered that my firewall had been disabled and "check for unknow threats" had also been disabled. As I had just checked it earler in the day and had not installed any other programs I must assume that this program was the problem.

#41 Southie, and #13 NeedHelp,
I don't detect any outbound or inbound connection from or to this program.
Also, the download.com comment is unclear in that whether it is "admin" for CC-file-transfer or the computer. If it is just for the file you're sharing, (according to the software's descriptions and GUI) it just means it has the right to upload a file to you or remove one or more of your files from sharing(not delete from your file system). It is really not a problem since this piece of software transfers via HTTP not HTTPS, which means you don't care about the security of the file if you use it. Someone here also said there's no description about encryption... what are you thinking? How could you achieve encryption via HTTP without both side having special software installed?

Can someone please break down the part of others accessing my posted files, all they have to do is type the "http:// numbers" address shown on the file transfer software, then input username and password and they will be able to d/l my posted files?

Is anyone who uses HFS getting speeds of above like, 40-50 kB/s?
Thats like the max anyone could get out of it, had 3 of my friends test it out for me...cant download any decent size file at those speeds :p Ittd be nice to find something you could get more speed out of. I'm aware its using my connection to transfer it, but hey, I dont need my whole dsl line just to surf the web :p Any help would be appriciated.

Thank you Anonymous comment #30, I tried your suggestion but it didn't work, also Biggest_Baddest_Wolf comment #33, again I tried most of your idea's, but again the same message. No problems though as I can always use one of the freeware alternatives. I'll continue to search for the problem as it is clear that there is something wrong with my PC, as Sulmonster so succinctly put it. Thank you for telling me what was so obvious, lol

This is nuts, there is strong evidence that this software contains some form of spyware or malware from other people's posts and yet people are still chowing down. Can't you guys read!? Personally I am steering well clear of this one. Please someone correct me if I am wrong?!

Anyway, who said paranoia was bad for you, I mean that guy was looking at my beer.

The installation triggered an alarm with my PestPatrol software, which suggests there's "aspy v2.12" keylogger associated with running the setup. Can I assume this is a false positive, since I see no other similar warnings anywhere?

No such luck with getting this to work. I am always getting a "crash" error message on startup.

"CCFileTransfer MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

Never mind. It looked promising.

#11: thanks for pointing us to hfs = http file server.
That freeware program is the first that enabled me to let my family download my photo's from my file server, and my collegues my company files. Its logging file is superb, because you can see exactly who is downloading what.

One of the nice things of GAOD is that we can inform each other of better alternatives to the giveaway of the day. Today that was certainly true for me. And it also helps commercial software producers to see their competition.

Jonathan, Pando is a Peer-to-Peer file sharing system -- look at their website under their technical stuff link and it says so right there.

Folks, if you want to share large files try 4shared.com, rapidshare.com, or megashare.com. Safe, simple and easy. Just send the link to your share and your friends/family can download.

I can't tell how many times I've needed to share files with my collegues there at NASA. I'm talking Florida and Texas mind you. This is some nice software.

I can't wait to share with my gals up there at the Bunny Ranch in Reno, NV. They love the stuff I send them.. Now I'm not limited to 4 MB by e-mail. This is great, they can download any size file now. I know the size of the file doesn't matter, but the gals love them big panoramic pics I made with yesterday's software. There's just more to enjoy with a bigger file.

Thx again GOTD and developers!

You guys/gals rock! Woot! Yea Baby Yea!

I use a laptop at a library that has Wifi but doesn't allow file-sharing (I tried. In fact, I wass able to at one time, but not anymore.). So will I be able to use this app?

I currently use dropload.com or yousendit.com, which are useful for small files, but cause errors sometimes.

Like #10, I downloaded it and started playing with it in the background. Since I use local 10, it was a challange to figure out the how's but it can be done, and for free! Considering how much I paid for it, it's a real deal. Thanks for the program. My only regret is that it can't work with folders. But then again I have ServeU-Pro for that.
Thanks #13 for the info that it just might be a trojan - I can watch 100% of the port traffic I assigned it and I will be watching on one PC but I don't plan to use this except for just what it says - to pass on a requested file or so to a friend.

Suggest you read this before using programs like this.

Filesharing Programs and “Technological Features to Induce Users to Share." This document was released by US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).

The news article is here.

It is also well known that file sharing networks are monitored. Call me paranoid and ignore me if you wish but do your own research.

This is P2P software which attaches to Limelight Networks in the IP address range 202.111.145.40 to 42 with Port 80. This was interesting I thought, so I exited the program. Hmmm, my files still shared and leaving my PC. OK, so I uninstalled it. Interesting, the IP address is still being sent to by my PC. How nice.

I wonder how many poor unfortunates who leave the admin password at it's default setting will get plundered by those in the know.

This is just a word of warning to all who take up this 'FREE' offer. Sad really. Get yourselves a free IP blocker program to stop this kind of plundering.

#2:
Foldershare from Microsoft?
Hm....

"Access your computer or device remotely - FolderShare mobile access allows you to access your computer from any web browser."

"Unlimited file transfers - no limits on quantity or size of files transferred"

"Any file type - files are synced and transferred in their original format"

With the above quotes from Foldershare's site, and the thought that Microsoft is behind it, I'd be very, very wary of using Foldershare.

#26:
It could be a wide range of issues causing this, from DirectX to some chunk of memory being messed up.
It could even be something like a certain piece of software aggressively claiming something in your system's runtime libraries.
But as someone else already mentioned, the problem isn't with the downloaded software.
I suggest you let your computer run some system diagnostics.
(check for disk errors, virusscan, adware/spyware scan and so on)
If that doesn't turn up anything, maybe you should ask someone who knows more about computers to have a look at your system.

It can be found in the GOTD site forum. The site has a search & it shouldn't be hard to find. I use it for all my GOTD d/l because it makes things very simple to activate, Etc. #21 look up www.dyndns.org

#26 we cannot see what is causing an error on your PC, but it should be clear there is something wrong with your PC, not the software.

I use WWW File Share Pro , which is a bit trickier to use, but has the advantage of allowing multiple users with their own login and pwd, so you can limit access.
