Installed just fine on my Windows 7 laptop. I wanted to be able to record an area with the audio from the source but it doesn't give the audio from the source, it only allows audio from the computer microphone. I tried a few things to adjust this with no luck. the video it did record was choppy. I've never had this much trouble setting up a screen capture program before. Uninstalled.
Thanks anyway GAOTD.

If this captures directly from audio and video cards, this is nice, but it must have to install its own drivers for that. If this is a simple screen recorder, as others have mentioned there are more out there. One is my favorites is ZD soft Screen Recorder and is currently being given away at another give away site.

Sound doesnt seem to work on Windows 10, followed link for help.
Help seems looks like it's made for a old Windows, maybe Windows 7, and it
isnt helpful at all. I deleted it.

Steve, I use sound capture with it all the time. It works and you can edit it. If the program didn't show any error it means it connected to your audio device properly. If your device is under the Recording Audio Devices of Windows the program can connect to it. Use Tools -> Audio Video Wizard. There you can test your audio devices, open the devices panel and again if it connects then it is working. If you can't hear what you record then you may have to turn on the 'Listen to this device' on the device properties panel.

This isn't true at all. Works fine under Windows 10.

Rather than 'doesn't work', what error do you get? What happens? What 'link' did you follow for help? (ie, what displayed this link?)

To [ Chris ] who asked what error we get ...
We do not get an error message, we do not get an intelligent analysis from the program.
We do get a video recording with no sound.
Or only our own microphone sound.
Even though we heard sound form the video source when we were watching the original presentation.
For those who's computer system defaults match the programmer's system defaults -- unknown match, by the way -- then all things might appear simple and easy, lucky you.
For anyone who's computer has any variance -- unknown variance, by the way -- from the programmer's computer, we have no such luck.
The challenge is for PCWinSoft to present to us what computer system default setting they expect and used when they did their programming, and then please give us specific scripts to set our computers to the same defaults.
Feedback here suggests that PCWinSoft programmers have at least one more task to do before this is ready for release - they need to automate a system audit over our computers, and offer to reset our defaults to match PCWinSoft's expectations.
No, I do not mean a script that I have to execute manually step by step, but even that would be an improvement.

Does anyone have other alternatives while we await v12 of PCWinSoft Capture Boss?
Thanks for exploring this and sharing.

This is what I mean. Software written and tested by people that use it. You can tell this has been refined. I don't like the digital time counter but the 'out of box' experience is a lot better than this 'capture boss' software. There are a ton of options hidden away, with the registration buried in the notification area icon and not the main program (grrr) but little niggles aside....
Thanks for suggesting this one.

You can tell this program has never gone through user testing or listened to users' concerns. The interface is horrendous and very unintuitive. When you start a capture, you have a row of icons labelled one to nine, with more greyed out. Why are these on the main screen? Are you going to change profile on the fly? But what do these icons do? No icons have tooltips, but there is a status bar at the bottom of the screen. So you have to hover over each icon and look at the status bar to work out what the icon may or may not do. "Dettach capture" (sic). What? When you start a recording, they're saved in 'users\public\documents'. Why public? Why not my own? And when recording, the screen just disappears (makes sense, but why not tell me the first time, instead of making me think the program has simply crashed). Then when you restore it, the saving has stopped ... but also has a button marked 'stop' (which does nothing, as the recording has stopped).
So many aspects of this program are confusing.
The first end result is also poor. The first thing someone is going to do is perform a screen recording, but the default option is about 5 frames a second - useless for screencast or recording anything off YouTube, etc.
There are many easier programs to use out there.

Chris, You may consider Active Venture, Ashampoo, OBS, etc. I am using the first two. I fell the third one is better, but I have yet to learn to use it.

Dattatraya Vaidya, Couldn't find any details on 'Active Venture'. Can you provide a link?
I've been using VSDC Free Video Editor, but it doesn't record too good (the default encoders are awful), the screen capture doesn't integrate into the editor, and the editor isn't the most friendly to use. Its good, but needs a bit more polish. Camtasia was the best tool, but not free and got a bit bloated with the later versions.
