This is only for x64 supported pcs. Most of the users have 32 bit. Could not install. Is there any way? There is no mention of it in the software page.

jraju,

Of course there is no way of installing and using
a 64-bit programme on a 32-bit PC

That is why the developer has written:
Please note: the software is compatible only with x64-bit systems

As with some other recent titles of the last week, it installed and registered easily enough. However, apparently it is not fully high-DPI aware, at least on my machine.

On my 3840x2160 pixel laptop a few aspects of the program appeared very tiny, while many others were jumbled on top of each other to the point of not seeing everything.

It was easily solved by right-clicking on one of the icons used to launch the application; then

select "Properties";

select the "Compatibility" tab;

under "Settings" click to place a checkmark in the box for "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:";

from the little drop-down menu just below, select "System" (which worked best on my system -- if not for you, then try "System (Enhanced)" -- whichever ends up working better for your system);

click the "OK" button (or "Apply" then "OK" if you prefer -- it should not matter);

...and re-launch -- it should display much better.

Also, in "Options' be sure to look for and disable the automatic update setting that would likely result in later deactivation/unregistering actions.

Thanks, GOTD and Colasoft!

The license is provided for 1 year - it means that the software will stop working after the year or it will work but without an updates?

Is their website down for anyone else? I just tried and I can't get to it.

Eddie_M, I can not reach it either.

I recommend the server admin of the company to install some kind of network analyzer to figure out potential problems ..

Pal, It's rather ironic they offer a network analyzer tool to troubleshoot but they aren't aware of their own website being offline.

What about a network or multiple PCs are in 32 bits? In the company there are positions that control control machines whose internal programs are incompatible with an OS 64. I still note that it is in industrial companies that the computer park is the most archaic, especially in terms of management of the park machining, handling, storage. It's not about changing only the PC, but the entire infrastructure. So is this a professional software for geek?
We talk about outdated system ... win 10 does exist in 32 bits?
I would abstain from voting on this one, no need personally of such soft, but the utility is it certain

I did read all of the posts and my conclusion is as follows:
a) Yes there are lots of network software that run on 32bit platform, but that is old and outdated, not lots of servers run it anymore.
b) 32bit system are limited to 3GB of memory access and therefore can not be called high performance servers.
c) To have a TRUE and fast server, you need to allocate separate DRAM pockets for each connection in order to create a TRUE dedicated server and therefore needs lots of memory and only way to accomplish that is to use 64GB and more of memory and only way to do it to use 64bit processors.
d) There is misconception that 32bit servers are as good as 64it servers, yes you can claim that if you have a very small network of 2-3 computers, after that the performance of 32bit system degrades very fast and after the 5th computer a bottleneck is created and becomes useless to have a network.
e) Try to stream HDTV on a network with 32bit OS and you will come to the same conclusion, 32bit can not handle it, unless you want to see buffering in progress every 2 seconds.

Berry,

purely FWIW...

"Yes there are lots of network software that run on 32bit platform, but that is old and outdated, not lots of servers run it anymore."

The new Windows 10 for ARM is 32 bit, which would disagree with your statement that it's old/outdated. You're correct that not so many servers run 32 bit OSes nowadays, because if nothing else, in their common role hosting VMs, that's one of the relatively few applications that actually uses [often much] more RAM. That said, a *portable* app for network analysis is more likely intended for non-server PCs/laptops IMHO. For PCs/laptops in a regular, non-server role, 64 bit Windows is somewhat often targeted by [especially driver] software developers simply because it's currently more common, and they don't feel like writing 2 versions. Most software OTOH is 32 bit, so it can't benefit from >4 GB RAM, which arguably the majority of Windows devices don't have anyway.

Berry,

How about we can say that this App is suitable for 32bit computers, as long as your Network only has 4 PC's in it?

Actually not true i seen 32bit machines run this perfectly hell my old one runs fine 5 of 4k netflix/prime/youtube or a mix of both vids with ease so not sure where your idea come from.

Great to have a direct download and straightforward installation/registration all GOTD downloads should be as simple. Great piece of software, nice clear GUI and gives plenty of useful information. I run a couple of small servers and this is ideal for keeping an eye on what they are doing. Thanks.

In short it's a nice packet sniffer, network analyzer and troubleshooter to solve various network issues and pinpoint possible bottlenecks in your network.
Obviously it's aimed at non-professional network administrators and small businesses alike, so I doubt it may be useful for the majority of people here, not to mention that it's possible to use the award-winning WIRESHARK for doing more or less the same things.

How come, the program insist to be installed at my System drive, when it's announced as a portable program. Can't figure that out?

Reply   |   Comment by Allan  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+33)

Allan , I agree, it's a little bit of carelessness at work (by the GOTD team and/or Colasoft).

And a portable version would have been excellent to get instead of (or as well as) the fixed installation version. It's not too hard to think of at least one reason why a portable version is not on offer today, though!

I'll pass apparently the developer thinks only 64 bit systems have LAN Networks lol

Reply   |   Comment by DBpvr  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

DBpvr, The good networks are 64bit, like mine. 12 computers all 64bit, doing various things like a personal computer for my wife and one for me, dedicated Email server and business computers... Good luck with your outdated 32bit system.

Kiwi1960, Nobody cares about how many servers or computers you have, but I would suggest you get your facts straight ... It's your o/s that's 64 bit not the network. Today's software requires a 64 bit o/s but a 32 bit system is just as good as 64 bit when it comes to connecting to the internet, the developer probably chose to design this for 64 bit machines as they are becoming the norm.

Reply   |   Comment by Robert  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+32)

Kiwi1960, Also your so called 64bit system is running around 70% of all its software as 32bit because not everything has cought up and uses 64bit yet most programs are still pure 32bit in a 64bit system so the fact you think this says everything about your IT skills.
