First download would not register, then the "rerun" stated it wasn't available. I give up!

I assume this rerun is because people did not get the license key to activate it, so I shouldn't need to re-install it. Right? Or was there some change in the code that is better than the original version?
Also, speaking of reruns, when can we expect a rerun of Traffic Inspector, which never sent me the license key (see my comment on the original page from last week for more information.)? Thank you.

Sunday, when I tried to register the software, I got an error message saying my e-mail address had already been used. I created a new e-mail address and submitted it. When the registration code e-mail came, it was blank. No reply to help message sent to the support address.
This morning I reinstalled the software after noticing the re-run of the offer. Installed great, no problem.
Actually, now there is a problem. After re-submitting my information for activation/registration, 12 hours later I have still not received the code.

I install today product and overwrite the previous same product folder, and register using the previous activation code.
Guess what, it state the code been register multiple computers, please contact vendoer.
I only installed once on the previous GOTD a few days ago, and this the second time I use the same code on the exact same computer.
The vendor itself should reset all activation code first...

What's with the down votes on Ashraf's posts?
He states the Pro's/Con's of the software (which is usually way more than the majority of comments) & lists alternatives, so how can his post be rated -21 unhelpful??
I must have missed something.

In order to receive the email with the registration code, their website will not let me use my email address and says this email address has been used already and to use another email address. I originally was sent an email when first trying to register this software previously and the registration line was left blank, so I received everything but the code to use the software. I feel the pain as in #4 Stone's and #7 Jem's comments above and I don't feel the need to start crashing my system so I'll remove this partial installation and not look back at this software as I have given it two tries already.
Very frustrating!

#1: "Has no feature to “keep original input resolution” for output videos"
I believe that this is something most if not all of the converters on GOTD have in common, which *usually* isn't a huge deal since you just manually select the same size as the original for output, e.g. input 1080 -> output 1080. The only time you get into trouble is when you have an oddball original frame size, say a downloaded video that's had letterboxing cropped [cut off]. A bigger related problem is that you're limited to the profiles included & whatever presets are available for the individual profiles, which don't always make sense, e.g. you can't select AVC/H.264 for an .mp4, & have to use .MKV instead.

#2: "Blaze Video Magic Ultimate works fine, but it was unable to rip few DVDs while DVDShrink successfully ripped."
Shrink isn't a ripper... Shrink [&/or earlier Recode versions] copy portions or the entire DVD [without DRM], optionally re-encoding the video, still to mpg2, but with lower bit rate = higher compression. Shrink's claim to fame, like Recode, is that if you only need to *shrink* the DVD's video by ~10% or less [i.e. the dialog shows 90% or better], it can be Very fast, because rather than re-encoding the video, it just discards, tosses out B frame data, which isn't very noticeable.
Then again, Video Magic Ultimate is just a video converter that can read a DVD. Most converters can read the VOB files where the audio, video, & subs are stored on a DVD, so reading the DVD layout & finding the VOB files for you is just a convenience included with or in some converters.

#4: "If you re-enter the same email address you used on Sunday, you get a message saying “This email was submited before. Please enter another email address!”
So, if you already got a worthless registration mail with a blank license code then, you can’t get a license code now."
Yeah, not impressed with that. Thinking they might have fixed it later on Sunday, I tried a few times over the course of the day... had to use my main e-mail this morning.

#6: "The things i dont like are the GUI,that is old, somehow xp-like styled, and the lack of audio input support"
Many [most?] of the converters out of China have pretty limited options when it comes to audio -- ideally you input a file with audio, video, & optionally subs, & get out an AVC video with AAC audio that'll play on a tablet or cell. If you've got a separate audio file, or want the audio in a format they won't allow [e.g. AC3 with an AVC or mp4 video], there are several tools to demux [split the file into separate streams] & mux [put the streams together in a single file] that work well, e.g. front ends for mkvtoolnix.

#7: "looks amateur when it says Ger instead of Get"
Oh. I thought it was supposed to be Grrrr, which after the 1st time was my feelings exactly. :)

On the surface Video Magic Ultimate seems to be your basic converter out of China, but BlazeVideo elected not to use the QT code that gives the current crop of converters their speed, & they added at least portions of the Intel® Media SDK. That 2nd part *might* speed things up if you're using a Intel CPU's built-in graphics [rather than an add-on chip or card], but as these video handling components are registered with Windows, there's a possibility they might conflict with video-related software you already have installed.
Otherwise for its main decoding, encoding, & playback Video Magic Ultimate uses a slightly older version of ffmpeg. If you don't use the Intel stuff you should expect it to do a very good job encoding AVC/H.264 because ffmpeg has the excellent x264 encoder built-in -- mpg2 not so much, & well, Xvid is Xvid for non-AVC mp4 in a .mp4 or .avi file. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn GPU assist on/off, & indeed the ffmpeg files for Nvidia & ATI GPUs are missing, so I assume it just turns on Intel GPU assist when it detects Windows using compatible Intel graphics hardware -- I've no way to test this out, & can only say it doesn't use the Intel Media SDK files without that hardware in use.
Long story short, I normally hang onto the usual self-contained converters because other than using a little bit of disk space, what can it hurt? And if for whatever reason I run into a problem converting a video with one converter, I've got 1/2 dozen alternatives I can try. But Video Magic Ultimate isn't self-contained [it adds the Intel Media SDK components], so I won't bother. Video Magic Ultimate does use the ffmpeg libraries as-is, rather than combining it with their code, so maybe someone will find it useful to be able to replace those ffmpeg files with the latest version, so they can use the latest/greatest yet still keep the simplified GUI. And of course if you're using the built-in Intel graphics in your PC/laptop, you might find Video Magic Ultimate to be the rare app that works very, very fast because it can use Intel's Quick Sync. If/when it works properly nothing can touch Quick Sync for speed.

There's plenty of converters available, and many of them are free. So the strength of a program like this has to lie in it's editor. I'm already quite content with FormatFactory.
The editor has a very annoying tenancy to keep playing stuff while editing even after pausing. It also lacks many features found in editors such as VirtualDub. It allows you to clip but doesn't appear to allow cutting within a video, such as one might do when cutting out ad breaks. Unlike VirtualDub it appears to work with a variety of video formats such as .TS, but doesn't do anything more than a good free .TS editor does. I've yet to try it on actually processing video.
The "GER" instead of "GET" on the webpage when registering tells me the company is amateur and does not encourage anyone to actually want to hand over any money to them.

Well after wasting time trying to install this when it was originally ran, I decided against my better judgement to give it another go on the rerun.
As before I had to deactivate my a/v when installing as it triggered an Artemis variant Trojan alert. Visited the Blaze page to get code, which is still sloppy, is it so hard to spell check your own webpage, looks amateur when it says Ger instead of Get. It would not let me use my email as it stated it had been previously used, which it had on the original giveaway, why this could not have been sorted out before the re-run I do not know, as with spell checking, lack of effort/interest seems to be an issue with Blaze.
The software itself is useful, though I am still waiting to see if it can cope with rotating an hours worth of video without crashing. So farit has crashed twice.
