Generate and export barcodes into image files of different types!

Replace, insert, delete, copy, and move text in multiple files in bulk!

Insert new text at specified line number, character position. Delete, copy, and move specified text blocks. Includes complete Unicode and RegEx support. RegEx pattern builder will help you design and test regular expressions right within the program. Specialized RegEx tools like HTML/XML tag selector, line selector, or number selector make it easier to create RegEx patterns. The program has complete Unicode support. Save files to output directory specified using either absolute or relative path, with the original or new name defined by a mask. Select files for processing based on their name, dates, size, and contents using advanced file search supporting RegEx and advanced wildcards. Optionally merge together, split all, or zip processed files. Perform different operations on different files with conditional processing and process branching. Detailed processing logs are available in both user interface and log files. Run multiple program instances simultaneously.

I was about to install this software when I glanced at the user agreement. It says that the software will automatically connect to the internet with or without notice for the purposes of interaction with internet-based services that are required for the software's functionality. Why would software that replaces, inserts, deletes, copies, and moves text need to interface with internet-based services to function? It's not like the developer is offering any upgrades. And why would any internet traffic need to be without my knowledge or informed consent? I've decided not to install the software.

This is quirky software from quirky folks at Binay Mark ( is that the programmer's name ? ), obviously with an incredible amount of work put into their programs.

All for nought, though, for us all-purpose end-users.

I see many software offerings where the programmer programs for themselves, or programs for one of their private customers, who each have a special need, and then the programmer wants to cash-in on their custom design solution by marketing their hard-wrought custom software to the general public.

Invariably, such efforts fail.

Because we in the general public have no special investment in such micro-precision specific-problem solving one-trick-pony programs.

We like all-purpose automatic tools, generalized tools, not arcane, complex, overwhelming, tool-kit-extensions, out of some programmer's unique, and personal, mind.

For confirmation that WE are not their customers, read their website: "... BinaryMark is a privately owned software development company. We make various software products and web services for individuals and organizations ranging from regular home PC users to IT professionals, and from small two-person firms to large corporations. Our products range from image processing software to professional, enterprise password generators. Our mission is to create smart software that saves time and does the work for people ..."

All this lack-of-appropriate-value for end-user-consumers is further diminished, if possible, by a limited-time subscription license that expires.

So not only is this impossible to imagine what to use it for, or how to use it, but we have limited time to figure out when it would be appropriate, figure out how to use it, and then, if we ever do all that, it expires.

I give up.

I can offer no suggestions for BinaryMark to make their software commercial worthy and end-user inviting and friendly.

I can only suggest that they DO change their software to be commercially worthy BY making it end-user inviting and friendly.

I tried another of their offerings, their mage batch editor, and I quickly reverted back to FREE IrfanView, because IrfanView invites me to use it on every image, so I'm super familiar with it from frequent use, so when I do want to do the same thing to more than one digital image file, I'm already super familiar with the program, such that adding a batch of tasks, tasks that I've already learned to do individually, is no big additional thing.

FREE.

Yes, the competition is FREE.

And until BinaryMark ...

-- develops ANYTHING that is inviting and broadly useful,

-- they should GIVE IT AWAY,

-- and they EARN feedback from end users,

-- learning how to do something they have absolutely no experience doing,

-- and that is, creating inviting general-use software.

If BinaryMark wants cash flow, then:

-- seek donations from satisfied users ( yeah, SATISFIED users ),,

-- offer enhanced features for pay, but basic functions ALWAYS free.

-- and never never never expire, otherwise ...

---- ( a ) you've lost a user who would have had a chance to get addicted to your programs, and

---- ( b ) you've made space for your competition to become their preference.

And I've just spent -w-a-y- too much of my time giving BinaryMark feedback than they have earned,

... but I'm really serving my fellow GOTD peeps.

You're all welcome.

Peter Blaise, > and never never never expire,

That seems the norm these days. Why sell a software product for $9.95 once when you can sell a licence. For a company, its hoped the user that requested it leaves, so that company will continue to pay $9.95 (or whatever) a year (or 3) as it'll slip 'under the radar'.

Thanks, but I am uninstalling this app because it is much to complex and non-intuitive for me. I'll just stick with more plain vanilla type (yet powerful) text editors like TextPad. The capabilities of this software might be great for someone who routinely works with large numbers of text files and would (IMO) warrant the learning curve necessary to master it but just not worth the time and effort for a casual user like me who might use it only occasionally - and have to "relearn" the various procedures every time used.

I'm columnist and writer and had never used software so complicated to implement. Simple things like PASTE and INSERT or CUT or COPY are now conditional and you have to know every position of every text and the line numbers or the specific words.
By the time you set all of those processes and branchings and have opened every file that needs modifications, you forget why you are doing all of these on the first place.
I had never needs to modify multiple files with same inserts of text or words, because every file I have is unique, represents specific thought and meanings. Maybe someone will find it useful, but it is not for me.

#TK re 2nd para of your comments re restrictions

Above were the page indicates that it is a 3yr license is states:

Professional Edition has the following restrictions:
Max File Size is 100MB;
Maximum number of files per batch is 1000;
Scheduling and command line operation is not supported;
Conditional processing is not supported.

So it would appear that this is a crippled version.

Program looks interesting, However, while activate works, there is then no option to install the program.

David P, It probably your antivirus and/or firewall blocking it. See explanation in others comments.

It is a shame they chose to offer their subscription model license and not their personal non-commercial for life with no updates license they do sell rather than 3 years subscription license which is less desirable.

I find myself wondering what is missing in this giveaway as there is an option in the help menu to upgrade to complete edition... according to the GAOTD FAQ we should be getting the complete licensed product as sold .

The giveaway license apears portable with the license operating across mapped network drives. The program only comes as a "portable" style installation installing into a sub folder of the C:\USERS\username\Local\BinaryMark\Portable\ heirachy.

The user settings are NOT portable though being stored in a completly differnt folder regardless of where the "Portable" heirachy is moved to so remains only on the host computer NOT on the portable media.

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\BinaryMark\BatchFiles_Path_mtgr4n3jzx2qtjnitggigx5qfxyquwhe\5.0.19.503\user.config
On one machine and
C:\Users\WINDOWS\AppData\Local\BinaryMark\BatchFiles_Path_ocuzfgoa4fywt0ruwp25xtrl3x1pwdqx\5.0.19.503\user.config
on the machine running the portable folder over a mapped network drive.

It should store the user.config file in the portable folders heirachy and follow the users seat around from machine to machine rather than forcing the end user to have to reconfigure the program to their personal preferences each time they switch host computers and leave their personalised settings on the host machine which could mess up a different users settings in that same windows user account if they also use the same program version on that machine.

For some unknonwn reason at the time of typing this comment the information panel above does not list a file size value... this can lead to all sorts of assumptions ... it should read somewhere around 9.4Mbytes as that is the size of the downloaded zip file.

This giveaway is pre-activated installer wrapped in the Themidia setup.exe/gcd wrapper so don't forget to READ the README.txt file if you have any trouble installing it on your system. The themidia code protection system will refuse silently to extract the instaler and execute it if it detects certain anti-malware test environments that look like reverse engineering virtual environments. Which is why certain anti-malware programs of features have to be disabled for themidia protected installers to function. It's not false positive or PUA detections as nothing is ever reported by problem anti-malware software.
