I have downloaded it and tried it for few pictures
It seems to be fast and used png in addition to jpg formats and both worked.
I didn't try any other file formats but it seems (from the open file menu) that it can open jpg , bmp , gif , png , ico , tif and like 10 other formats
Resizing can be done either with cropping or without cropping (May elongate or stretch the photo)
There is also an option to resize it to certain pixels like FHD or custom dimensions, another option is to resize it to percentage such as 80% or 150%
mirroring or rotating are also available
There is also a thumbnail for photos to choose from before resizing them
There is an option to convert it to different formats while cropping like jpg, bmp or TIF
There is also a rename Files option

Thank you for this software. I was just thinking about looking for a resizer as I have a huge image of our new firehouse that I would like to scale down and make it fit my phone and iPad better. Thank you again. I would buy the full version for all my computers but I am a disabled firefighter on social security and it's not much and with Corona crap hitting the area I live in my wife is in jeopardy of being out of work until this is over. Again, Thank You for the fine software. It works great and does what i need it to do!

There are excellent powerful freeware image processing tools such as IrfanView which can handle batch resizing quickly and easily, as well as many other tasks. If you want a dedicated resizing tool there's XnResize from the superb XnView range of freeware. I am interested to know what special features Batch Picture Resizer offers. Does it handle a wider range of formats, for example?

As someone who regularly reads the GotD user comments before deciding whether to try a particular software, I understand where you're coming from. I don't disagree with your assertion that a comment which asks for details could be even more useful if the person posing the question instead took the time to download, install, learn, and test the software against all the freeware/shareware competitors, then post a comprehensive list of pros and cons versus each one of them.
Where I disagree with you (and based on the votes against your comment, so do many others) is your implicit position that a comment which asks for specific information rather than doing the aforementioned research is somehow not very 'useful'. It is not reasonable to require a casual user to invest what could be hours to compare every possible feature of numerous alternatives in order to make a useful comment.
This is where the developer, who one would assume already knows their product inside and out and should also have a strong knowledge of free or inexpensive alternatives, can and should provide specific answers. After all, this is something they've put a lot of work into and are trying to (on any other day) sell for income. This is a big opportunity to get exposure to tens of thousands of new users and so the onus is more on them to answer an easy question like, "What advantages does your software provide over free /cheap alternatives which would make paying for it a good choice for an end user."

Joe Blow, What I disagree with in your comment, is the fact that you are agreeing with a commenter that, in a way, puts down a product without testing it. I can see a developer should be wanting to answer questions about their product, but not after someone blatantly puts it down. "Oh this software is powerful and this software is more feature packed"
It would be a different story if the commenter simply asked " I am interested to know what special features Batch Picture Resizer offers. Does it handle a wider range of formats, for example?", and then posted a separate comment about the other software if they found the answers lacked what the other software had. That would be a useful comment

I'm curious why some people are turning thumbs down, without leaving a comment why? Do they have a problem with the software? If so, I'd like to know what it is. If they are just not interested, why would they think that a thumbs down would tell me anything, including that they aren't interested in the product?

Just to add to it if I may, why some people will comment about other similar software, free or otherwise, and admit they have not tried this software offered, and hence putting it down. It would be a different story if they used the software offered, offered a valuable opinion as to its ups and downs, and then suggested others, they have used, liked better, and why.

If you try once to vote down- you would see kind of popup with the next options:
-I am not interested in this kind of software
-I don't like the design
-I don't understand how this program works
-The software is too buggy or unstable
-The activation process is too complicated
-Other
It looks like it is designed to help the developers, not to “tell you anything”.If I choose- for example- the first option: “I am not interested in this kind of software”- why I jave to live a comment “I am not interested in this kind of software”, since it is already perfectly clear?
If you really want to get this statistic- maybe you have to ask GOTD to provide it to you, since it is not exposed to public.
