So if there's no incremental backup etc ... this is actually just a program to COPY things ? Kinda "dressed up" explorer ?

I have been using the free Create Synchronicity backup program for years and it works very well. In addition to mirror and incremental backups, Create Synchronicity also backs up open files, with many alternatives fail to do.
