Is it possible to select the quality and resolution of the saved video or is it preset with only 1 setting? And does it only save in .mkv, and not .mp4?

Nocturn, Only trials have such limitations. Hard drive capacity is the only limitation.
You should ask how many hours will it take to fill up a hard drive of ??? capacity.

xilolee, Strictly speaking the amount of storage capacity (hard drive size) is a limitation

xilolee, and Nocturn: but they haven't answered Jose's question above and their website and specs here do not specify what format or quality is used or whether it can be specified. Therefore, "unlimited time" until disk is full, not no idea if one can try to minimize space required per unit time.
