Since this giveaway is over, I don't know if anyone will actually see this comment, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway, in hopes of being helpful to those who like to follow up on their original comments.

It has become common practice for online businesses to ask people to "like" their Facebook page because once you do, any posts to their page will appear on YOUR Facebook "wall" (newsfeed). The theory is that your friends who visit your Facebook profile may have an interest in their software and also visit the vendor's Facebook Fan Page (which will likewise ask THEM to "like" the page, thus exposing the offer to THEIR friends - and so on, and so on...).

As to the issue of the security warning that pops up when visiting the page the vendor wants you to "like" - Facebook now requires any "Fan Pages" which are NOT hosted on Facebook's servers to have an SSL certificate installed (SSL stands for "Secure Socket Layer), which is simply a verification that the owner of the page is indeed the person or entity that owns that particular Facebook profile.

Thus, if you visit a Facebook Fan Page that displays a security warning like the one mentioned in these comments, it doesn't necessarily mean that there evil hackers waiting for you to click on the "like" button so that they can rifle thru your hard drive for racy pics of your wife/girlfriend or go thru your bank records - it may simply mean that the owner of the page is too cheap to purchase an SSL certificate for the web hosting account where their Fan Page is actually hosted - no more, no less.

As a professional online marketer, I've watched the rapid decline of email marketing to the status of becoming practically worthless to both marketer and potential customer - just look at the number of people who refuse to surrender their name and email address to anyone, because they know that once they do they'll receive commercial emails from the owner of the form - because when you submit that information on that form, you are giving them PERMISSION to send you those emails - which are no longer considered to be "spam" because you gave them permission to send them to you when you filled out and submitted that form.

Now, the Facebook "Like" button works very much like the email model, except that when you "like" a page, you're not only giving the company permission to send YOU information as often as they see fit, but to also expose everyone who visits your FB profile to that information as well!

The upside to FB "likes" compared to email marketing is that it's really easy to "unsubscribe" from being "spammed" by simply "UN-Liking" the offending company, which will remove ALL references made by that company that may have been posted on your "wall" as a result of your original "like" of their page.

I apologize for the lengthy comment, but I believe that an informed customer is a GOOD customer. There's plenty of GOOD stuff out there that's being offered by honest and ethical affiliates and distributors, and unfortunately many of them make "newbie" mistakes that practically sabotage their chances of ever becoming successful. Unfortunately, all it takes is one or two "bad apples" to completely poison the well for those of us who continually try to respect the wishes of our prospects and customers.

Just remember - a GOOD company is responsive to its customers, far beyond the typical "canned" responses doled out by an outsourced "help desk." You should be able to communicate with people who will know the product or service well enough to provide you with the solutions you're looking for.

Lastly, on the technical side of things, I bear no grudge with GAOTD for including the launch of a confirmation web page at the conclusion of a successful installation, and would hardly call it an "intrusion." To me it's simply an indication of a successful install, and nothing more. I realize as a marketer that GAOTD may benefit from displaying that success web page - due to placement of rotating ads, and perhaps an occasional affiliate product link - and so I can't blame them for doing so.

Running Win 7 Home Premium 32bit OS with 2gig phys memory on an AMD Sempron CPU.... Experienced no issues, no problems with registration after installing this! Upon testing this with the first MP3 music file everything appeared to work seamlessly....

Thank You GOTD and AVSoft.

program worked fine on win7 64bit. only problem i had was that somehow after the complex activation, my browser would not close, even using the task manager.. not sure why that happened. using a registry cleaner didn't help. once i rebooted my pc was back to normal. bummer, sorry, i don't trust the program for what it may have done to my registry?? just sayin'

I usually wait till the last minute, trying to take all comments into the mix,(comments from Giovanni and Andy ALWAYS appreciated for their insight into other freeware alternatives-I'll let them work out their Feudal battle between who has ascended to the throne-daily- to them-)But here is the comparison chart between versions: Link: http://www.audio4fun.com/compare-music.htm My question is this:Amongst anyone that has gotten this darn thing to work,is it worth the bother? Or is it another Buggy piece of soft that wants to access your Corel image editing program- for reasons unknown- I'd like hear the explanation/correlation for THAT,and constantly "Phone Home"-for reasons unknown? Does it have a graphic EQ,and if so,how many bands of EQ are there? I guess the echo, surround, etc. don't work without the Fraunhofer( Separate price-not included) But I haven't really heard that much from anyone who has gotten it to work. Chime in....I'd LIKE for this to be of SOME benefit. Thanx to everyone !!!

I hope they won't edit this post out. I don't really have a use for this program, so I apologize GOTD for pirating your forum here. But I would like to know if it is possible to burn a VHS tape to DVD, and if so, what software (free or not) would do that. I visit this site every day, and I have some wonderful programs on my laptop. I notice that some of the HERCULES of the site are here today, so I thought this might be a good day to ask for help.

I am computer literate, but I really don't know how to do many of the things most of you find to be child's play. I respect those of you who share your knowledge with us, and thank you GOTD for giving us a place to get that knowledge.

Just another garbage program - GOTD, do you even test these programs?

Thanks to #28 Wether for the warning. I installed this software and when the "configuring Corel PaintShop" window popped up, I clicked on "Cancel" before the action completed. This I did successively perhaps 20 or 30 times and then the installation completed without my losing the custom setup of Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3. Unfortunately, every time AV Music Morpher opens it attempts this configuration one time. I suspect some day I will not be alert and will lose my custom configuration, which will be very depressing, as it takes me perhaps a month to get all the commands I need selected and placed where I can find them rapidly.
TO THE MUSIC MORPHER PEOPLE: WHY DOES YOUR AUDIO PROGRAM NEED TO MESS WITH MY IMAGE EDITOR?

@27 LongHaired OldGuy: I couldn´t get the registry key to work either and i totally agree. I can´t keep from wondering if they might be trying to con people into Liking them on Facebook... Anyway, i have no intention of creating an account there just to get a new gadget for my computer, no matter how great it might be. What a joke.

OK... 32-bit XP Pro with SP3.

The good news is it seems to work fine, and I see NO indication whatsoever of the Dealio Toolbar several others have mentioned (not even in the 'Manage Add-ons' section, under 'Toolbars and extensions' AND looking in 'All add-ons').

HOWEVER, the faff that is registration really is beyond a joke...

Firstly, the 'captcha' on the page from the readme file showed numbers and capital letters, but wouldn't accept my typing in capitals (yes, I know that most don't, but some do, and others don't seem to care) so I had to use lower case - forgive me, but if I see so necessary a code use capitals, I assume I need to copy them...

Secondly, the code generated from the page in the readme file was not valid (either copying and pasting OR typing the EXACT code - and YES I DID type it EXACTLY; AND spent about 20 seconds comparing the two versions before submitting it). I eventually had to go to their Facebook page, allow it to show 'unsecured' content (some sort of security certificate error(s)), LIKE them/their page/the software (I'm really not sure which it was in the end), to get an apparently-universal 'Free Trial' code to activate the software... THEN I had to choose to 'activate the full version' - for which the original code from the page in the readme file DID work...

I assume AVSoft would claim the Facebook thing is 'to keep users up-to-date on new software' or some such, but forcing people to 'like' you in order to get through part of an activation system for something you're supposedly giving away for free just seems...

So far so good! Fiddled around with it some more since my last post (#37). Tried installing the demo program in both basic and Gold versions ending up with the same result going no further than the splash screen. I noticed when stopping the program using "Task Manager" that a "DXEffectTester.exe" was also running so had to stop that also.

Finally I located DXEffectTester.exe in the folder: "Program Files\AV Music Morpher\Effects\DirectX". I renamed "DXEffectTester.exe" to something else so the program wouldn't run it (added a d to the beginning "dDXEffectTester.exe") so I could change it back later if necessary. Next time when opening the program it worked! Not sure if I screwed or disabled anything else by doing this, but as far as I can tell everything seems okay. I should also add I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit).

@28: Sometimes I use programs that for some random reason prompts Windows Installer to install something Microsoft Office relate. AFAIK something in the process is activating some Office component, and in this case I think the same may be happening to you. Just wait for the thing to finish (even though it takes way too long) and you shouldn't be prompted again. Clicking cancel usually just starts the process over either the next time you launch or immediately.

@30: The "activation BS" is what makes GOTD run. Instead of allowing full versions to be installed over and over again, if you really want the program, you'd buy it. That's how the developers make money. Remember also that GOTD pays developers to have their software put on. Opening the activation complete page is for statistical purposes. I don't suppose their activation server actually keeps count. As for the registry entries, the GOTD wrapper itself only touches its own registry key. There's no problem with that because it doesn't affect any other programs. If you insist on knowing every change, be prepared to be bombarded with constant nagging, as the registry is a integral part of Windows (sadly) and programs have the right to insert and edit registry values they own as necessary.
Of course, you're probably referring to AVSoft's activation system. That will be their problem, not GOTD's.

@39: Ever tried COMODO Firewall? They really like their Defense+. I never liked it from the beginning. It's overly aggressive.

General info: The program takes really long on first launch to load. Subsequent launches are faster. Bear with it for a few minutes. If your cursor doesn't turn into the "wait" cursor when hovering over the splash screen, that means the program is still loading.

Am I missing something: I didn't see any mention of Dealio when installing, nor do I see the toolbar when I open IE.

An avid podcast listener, I looked for time-compression software. The only freeware I found was an earlier version of Music Morpher and Audacity. Audacity is very good, but MM did batch conversions, which was more useful for my needs.

Luckily for me, GAOTD offered Audio Speed Changer Pro a while back, which ideally suits my needs, works very well, and is highly recommended to "time-crunchers."

I found MM to be a bit fussy to set up and somewhat slow, but it did perform as promised.

Installed, key received. Then,,opening screen goes blank, explorer window opens labeled 'Choose VirtualDub filter'. Had to use task manager to turn it off. No way this mess of a program is worth the troubleshooting to make it maybe work. Uninstalling. BTW, I hardly ever have a problem with GOTD offerings,so I'm pretty confident it's the software that's glitching.

I too got the "creating frame" message which FINALLY finishes. Program launches and offers the registration screen. Activate takes you to Facebook and in order to get the key, you have to click "Like" on the Facebook site. Not mentioned in the promotion and I'm not a Face book member. I won't be signing up for Facebook in order to use this software and feel that this goes against the "free version" requirements of GAOTD. Uninstalling now. Thumbs down for tactics.

Houston... we have a problem .....

Installed on
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
HP Pavilion(2.1 GHz/64 bit/3 Gig ram).
AMD processor AMD Sempron LE-1200 2.1GHz
NVIDIA graphics chip.
Runs AVG and Firefox

Problem #1: program doesn't download the first time you try
Problem #2: When the program does download, Install works correctly, however program locks up on launch (same as mentioned above)
Reboot: same problem
completely removed program, reboot and reinstalled... Program locks up on launch.

Sad too.... This sounds like a perfect program I would like to own. As a musician doing multi-tracking. This program was perfect ..... NOT!

um..... Looking forward to seeing the problem fixed !

Will the writers of software please note that we don't want toolbars and browsers and adverts and BS. We don't want advertising puff telling us how marvelous and unique the product is when its probably rubbish and full of bugs. @ #3 ~ I had the same Choose Virtual Filter dialog box, looking for a nonexistant .vdf filter, something I Googled to find it being a VirtualDub filter; before I found a filter, Norton had removed the DXEffect thing needing the .vdf, and the AV software worked.
@ #27 ~ when you get to that trial activation screen, click the lower left to activate full product, enter name, email and code from the info in the text file with the GAOTD download, and you're complete. You were at the trial activation (I did the same, and don't do the Facebook think, so thought I was SOL until I saw the full product activation button).

People - this is NOT an audacity replacement, nor a 'player'. I've used their products since before 2000; they're quirky, a little difficult to figure out as controls are not always standard, but they are powerful programs to be used creatively. One of the suggestions was a voice remover - that is in the Gold version.
Plus, you can download any of their software free and test it - when you register you get a lot for it - check out their site for more info; I've worked for the staff there before, I own all their programs and I would tell you straight up if I did not like them; I DO like them all very much. You need to understand that they are mostly morphing programns - made to purposefully distort, effect, eliminate and add to the sound files - if you figure out the controls, you can even stream live audio through it and morph the stream in real time. Some quirky things - you can't resize the window - one size is all. The major controls are not big buttons at the top; they are small words, you have to find them. But what you get is a program that can double the pitch without altering the timeframe - that means your voice gets higher but not faster, unless you want a faster voice. It comes with a great little audio player too. These products are not passive, they are active, they are for DOING things to music and voice; try it you will be creatively surprised.

OK man!!

Today you pass the limit...LOL...and definitely surpassed yourself, as most of your freebies were completely unknown to me, maybe because I'm not a musician...who knows!!

So I officially appoint you as the MASTER of FREEBIES...is it alright for you??

And yes....I totally agree with you: if there are FREE TOOLS as good as the GAOTD offered here for free for 24 hours only, there is no point to download it taking into account that it cannot be updated to future improved versions.

Anyway, as best FREEWARE ALTERNATIVES let me add the following ones:

Every time i see bundled with "TOOLBAR" i classify the software as malware. Why You may ask ? Because many times, even if You untick and decline the license for the toolbars and so on they are most often installed or partially installed. If i untick something i mean i don't want that BS on my computer. Toolbars are often some sort of malware.

I do also dislike when a finished install open my browser to go to some site without asking for permission first.

Instead of this activation BS they should have a special version that can be installed as many times as the user want/need to, computers can crash. The feature like update could be disabled completely.

I still don't like that the Setup file from GAOTD tries to change a regkey without asking for permission. My software firewall always blocks it by default. I get a popup that tells me that a critical regkey are about to be changed, but the change will be blocked.

Installed and activated on Windows 7 64 bit NO Problem. It's not a piece of software that I would not use a lot but hey I will try it. Looks interesting.

Thanks GOTD & AV

Avoid this giveaway. Windows 7 x64 Home Premium.

I have Corel Paintshop Pro X3 and I don't know why but installing this giveaway has completely wrecked that application.

As others have reported, when launching this giveaway I see the Creating Main Frame window at which point a Corel dialogue appears telling me to 'please wait while corel paintshop is configured'. This dialog kept appearing and then crashing and then reappearing until I forced the giveaway program to close. I didn't launch Paintshop - it was called by some process during the Music Morpher start up.

I made sure that I didn't install the offered toolbar etc.

I have now ran a system restore but my custom workspace layouts in Corel PSP have been erased - it has somehow reset Corel to a blank install.

This type of software should not interfere with another app like this.

NOT IMPRESSED. -1000

For someone like myself, who has a tad above avg. computer skills, I probable should pass on this one a wait for something that works better with a easier install. Thanks to all who left comments, it helps me decide if I want to try a new program OR not.

Downloaded, installed & working fine..Win7 (32/64bit)
No registration problems of any kind..
Cute program, used an older version priorly, so thanks for the free upgrade today..Very much appreciated..!!..
Seems stable/reliable so far, not had time to give an in-depth try-out as yet, but looking forwards to doing so..!!..
Thanks AVSoft and Gaotd.. :)

ps. The initial start-up did take a while due to the building of the framework. Once done though, things went pretty quick. Restarted the proggy and it was up-n-running in less than 2 seconds..Sweet...

I already had version 4.0 of this software, which I had installed from a previous GAOTD offering. I figured that since today's offering is version 5.0 I would go ahead and install the newer version.

BIG mistake!

When launching program immediately after install, I was met with the following error popup:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Progra... (This is exactly how it appeared)

R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

Upon dismissing the error popup, the program did finish launching, and appeared to work normally. However, much to my disappointment, I'm no longer able to save output in MP3 format - which I'm pretty certain I was able to do with the previous version of this program.

Since this install over-wrote my previous install, I'm pretty much up the creek as far as salvaging THIS program's usefulness to me.

Fortunately, I have tons of other audio editing and conversion programs (most of which I've obtained here over time) so I suppose it's no major loss to me in the grand scheme of things. However, it doesn't speak well of this particular software and/or contributor, especially when a supposed major "update" (increase in version number from 4.0 to 5.0) results in a loss of capabilities!

I've seen people bash Audacity frequently when it's brought up in the comments here, and even though it may be a bit more difficult to learn how to use, it has two things going for it - especially when compared to today's offering:

Audacity is completely FREE...Audacity is able to save output in MP3 format, albeit you're required to download the LAME DLL (also FREE) in order to do so.

Oh well - you can't win 'em all!
