"The swiss army knife for everything that is related to audio files".

What kind of knife is it if it can't cut?

Invalid license data? Use the key but enter the name as GiveAwayOfTheDay

Then it works.

A swiss army knife is a passive tool with no smarts.

It would be nice to have a program that can convert audio formats, intelligently, throughout a library, like FLACSquisher does for FLAC, ignoring files that have already been converted, so you can run it daily as you add more to your audio library, run FLACSquisher, and all it will do is find and convert newly added FLACs.

Someone could develop similar for other input conversions.

How about intelligent macros ... I, for example like to rename the files:

[ artist ] [ date ] [ track number ] [ title ]

because I don't care about albums, I haven't been disc based for years, I listen to an artist through their development over time.

Some audio files have no track number, or track numbers like [ 15/20 ], or [ 1 ] instead of [ 01 ], so they don;t sort and rename properly, and I have to fix them manually, Zortam Music Studio at least lets me do that in batches, manually.

I use Zortam Music Studio to batch-remove [ album artist ], make it blank, because Apple presents audio with [ Song Artist/Album Artist ] taking up precious tiny-screen space, even though Apple sells songs without having to purchase an entire album.

Find and remove duplicates? I use MusicBrainz Picard to do it manually, and Zortam Music Studio to do it in batch, but none of them have an intelligent "delete by size preference" where I like larger MP3s, but if I were needing space and had FLAC originals, I might prefer to [ delete larger MP3 IF FLAC exists ].

Convert all lossless originals to FLAC and delete non-FLAC lossless original versions?

PS - Why do some sources have different size FLAC for the same audio file, vastly different file sizes?

GOTD has a feature asking "How would you improve ...?" each offering.

Does any vendor seem to be listening?

Some, most of these offering are getting old and tired, and are not keeping up with the way we users are using our computers anymore.

I want software that becomes more intelligent, having features wit more benefits, more savvy, with each passing season.

Does anyone here see that from any vendor?

Chagrin.
.

Downloaded, copied and pasted 'Registration Key" and tried to register but got the message "Invalid License Data". Couldn't figure a workaround. Waste of time!

Don't bother with KCsoft.
I started an older gotd of AudioGrail i had, to check its version. I went to the "about" dialog, it said it is registered as a giveaway. After i dismissed the window, it said "license invalid" and closed the program.
On the next start it was a demo.

So, the program contacted their server and got told to invalidate the license, huh?!
This means KC can force their offers to revert to demo versions whenever they like, even if it was "lifetime" or whatever license...

Uninstalling old AudioGrail and never gonna try their "gotd" again!

temp, i'm pretty sure it's not intentional, in my case a few weeks back, it required a server restart in order to be fixed. What i did was basically writing to KC Softwares over email to notify about that and it got fixed within a few hours. If anything, Kyle needs to work on a better way of checking the license, fix that pesky bug that is triggering the invalid license error.

Clearly ‘Swiss Army Knife" is an American expression. Can someone explain it for us non-Americans?

Zen , It is also used in French!

Reply   |   Comment by PaulF  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

PaulF, A Swiss Army Knife has all the things you could possibly need to do just about any job; knife, screwdrivers, bottles openers, cork screw, nail files, etc . . . . . . . So it's a phrase we use to describe anything that does everything. For me I don't care for Software that, supposedly, does everything; they normally do a couple things very well, but other things don't do things all that well. I'll Pass.

Reply   |   Comment by JonE  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Zen ,
The swiss army knife is a pocket knife that folds up.
It has more than just a cutting blade, can have a spoon, a can opener, a fork, a toothpick, a saw blade etc.
So when someone says something is like that knife they mean its not just one function but has multiple uses.
(Have not tried the software yet just explaining the term).

So, Kyle, you seem to be a "spokesman" for this app....answer me this....Is this a lifetime license? A 1-year license or what? Any free updates/upgrades and/or tech support? Any discounts on future licensing?

HellsBells, no time limitation but only for 7.11.x. Licence will not work on 7.8 or 8.0 but you can stay on 7.11 with this licence.

TK,
Wrong not all are lifetime. Some Giveaway software can be free for only 6 months befire expiring. Some 1 yr. The Giveaway page already list how long the license us for so you dont have to ask.

Great. Updated version 7.11.2.216 to 7.11.3.217. Already registered to GiveAwayOfTheDay, possibly carrying over from the previous version.

Reply   |   Comment by Jerry  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Jerry,

Since you own this, and for any others who might know, I'm trying to understand more specifically what this program does. Specifically:

It talks about automatically ID'ing songs, renaming albums, and finding album covers. Does this mean that it goes out to the internet to find these things? Album covers obviously it does, but names and titles? Meaning it file matches with some source out on the internet. Not just a 'batch-renamer' where I supply the names, correct? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I've never used a program like this.

What about artist, track, and other file 'detail' data that's connected to the file. Can it find and fill in that info?

Can it correct track information if that's incorrect?

Do you know what database it uses as it's source for comparison?

Is it accurate? How well does it work?

I have a ton of music that I've collected over the years, and I'd love to fill in more data under the file details tab, more album art, etc. But I'm afraid many of the files might not match up with files in a database somewhere. I don't know, really.

How well does the playlist maker work? Is it easy to use?

Can it do things like highlight/search for albums that are incomplete? Tell me if I have an album that's missing a song?

Thanks!

J

I have installed the program, but I can't find anywhere to "register" the program. When I go to User info it says the program is registered to Auslogics - BUT - no button to change registration. Will this run it's course like a temp file and then require this info in the future or will this remain as the registered user for good?

Reply   |   Comment by Thomas Roberts  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

Thomas Roberts, you already are part of another Giveaway operation for the same software / version. No need to change licence for you (same conditions apply)

Reply   |   Comment by Kyle  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Thomas Roberts, I don't know what you experienced, but for me the program launched with a dialogue box. The User was preset to Auslogics and beneath there were boxes to enter name (Giveawayoftheday) and reg. no (50078118095081116094110098091121091117078080116096055046049049) which I cut and paste from the Readme file.
Registered fine. You could reinstall and see if that happens for you.
Good luck
