I have more success with CleverGet Free when I downloaded it... apparently it's now commercialised, no idea if the free use is still functional. But it enabled me to define output format and dimensions to correct where lower non-wide screen encoding dimensions were used in the stream and the player re-scaled it to widescreen on the fly... cleverget allowed me to define the aspect ratio rescaling in the final re-encoding which may have used more bits but certainly looks better than a 16:9 squeezed into 4:3 like Audials TV Recorder left me with.

Does anyone know of a program that will operate online like a VCR? Preferably free.

This seems to be only for Internet TV. It doesn't detect or read from TV cards.

Hey there,

I have 'Audials One' installed, and I believe it includes the 'Audials TV Recorder.'
Is that correct?

Thom, I have Audials 2025 and both programs show the same channels.

Thom, oh and this also only outputs webm video content files so also not very useful, will need to be lossily re-encoded to h264 or h265 externally to make the recorded content more accessible and useful. Audials One should offer additional output choices if it's the full edition.

What am I missing?

I am using the first 2025 version of this TV recorder that I downloaded from GAoD. You can read my full assessment here:
https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/audials-tv-recorder-2025/#:~:text=Audials%20TV%20Recorder%202025%20was%20available%20as%20a,a%20broadcast%20anymore%20and%20are%20always%20well%20informed.

Below, I only reproduce the bottom line:
It’s a good program with many channels, plus you can add further channels from their URLs.
But it has the serious weakness that you can only record live transmissions, you cannot program recordings in advance like you could do with the old video VCR’s.

Or new DVR's. That would be a recorder to have.
With 1 GB hard drive space for installation you would think it does more than JDownloader 2
