Generally happy with both Ashampoo apps and giveawayoftheday - but in this case (Photo Recovery) the downloaded ZIP file is Locked by windows and does not extract (or open).
Presumably missing something easy - but Permissions dialogue indicates I SHOULD have full control....

Installation and registration uneventful. I started to run the software and it came up with a warning about drive size. Apparently, the recovery takes place without the user being able to pick and choose the image files desired. So if you deal in in a lot of image files which end up deleted, take this into account.

If I got the wrong interpretation, Ashampoo, please reply with clarification.

It won't "Restore your images - from any drive!" the drive has to be almost fully functional! It won't recover photos from drives that windows disk manager does not recognise or access the media of. e.g. an external drive that when you try to access it throws up an error alert box that you need to insert media or if the drive will not format it will be damaged and "likely" not usable in the program but it might find something but it's unlikely.

Ashampoo offers quality software and is reasonably priced.

No issues installing and registering for the licence key.

Software looks impressive and can restore RAW as well as normal image files.

I haven't actually tried it, and hopefully won't need to, but it's worth having just in case.

(People will downvote this, they always do, but for no reason.)

RustyKnight, you are making claims that YOU have not verified so that makes your comment an advert for the program not a review of your experience, therefore beyond the fact you had "No issues installing and registering for the license key" the comment is of little usefulness. Did you manage to receive and apply the license key for example?

RustyKnight, Sometimes the detractors voting down software offerings are actually other developers or marketers trying to drive sales to their product. I find that of all the freeware and tryout ware can be researched by using google search for user group's comment listings.

TK, Excuse me, I verified that it installed with no issues and ran it to check the settings.

It's because of dumb comments like yours that I don't normally bother posting my experiences.
