I've been trying for the last 6 hours to download it and it keeps timing out.

I uninstalled Photo Card 2. The main reason being that there is no way of making alterations to the preinstalled frames/foregrounds. If there is let's say a rose on a foreground/frame, I would as a minimum requirement expect to be able to move the rose around or simply remove it—and perhaps put something else there instead.

MrKiroeen, it is possible to change frames in Ashampoo® Photo Commander

Collette: Harold is right. There is no flexibility to modify their templates. If it has their writing on it, you cannot take it off, same with their pictures. And worst of all, there is no blank page that you can use to start from scratch. You also cannot make greeting cards that fold.
forensic guy:
Collette,
I tried navigating to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ashampoo\Ashampoo Photo Card 2\frames\Card\Animals and I see the file extension is their proprietary .apcdoc. I tried changing the extension to .bmp, .gif, .jpg and they all could not be read by any of my graphics programs. My idea was to open the new extension in a graphics editor and make a blank template based on dimensions, then change the extension back to .apcdoc. Unfortunately this did not work.
Sorry, I tried.

Try: Ashampoo Photo Commander (saved apcdoc !)

I have always been happy with Ashampoo products. They work well and if you got it for free on top of that, I have no problem with their ads.

Hello. Are these PRINTABLE?? Thank you.

sawa,
On the product page it says: "Save and print your cards and surprise your loved ones with a classic paper greeting card. "
It looks like text, photos, and clipart are treated like vector-based graphics, which is a plus for printing, though photos do still need to be a high enough resolution to print at good quality [the std. 300 d.p.i. should work great]. Sadly it also looks like Alan Smith is correct, posting that it's single sided only -- to create a traditional greeting card you'd have to shrink the image you got out of Photo Card [print to PDF? - printer utility app?], printing the inside message separately.

mike, thank you.

Just a single one sided sheet, not a greetings card style. No good for me.

Alan Smith, yeah. I just noticed its title say "Photo Card". :( I was hoping it would be like The Print Shop/Master. :(

Alan Smith, I have not tried the program yet. It may have some useful features. If you have an instance of Microsoft Office, the Publisher program is usually included and it is the program to use to create greeting cards. Perhaps output of this program can be used along with Publisher to accomplish what you want. Hey, maybe Publisher alone. Good luck.

i have been using ashampoo for over 6 years and not had a bad experience with the company. i love the idea of free programs and also you get up to 30 days to try out any of there programs. it gives you piece of mind if that is possible in this day of uncertainty. i recommend that you try out this program. you will love it and have a look at there other software

Downloaded quickly, easy registration and easy install on win764bit. The two strange things are:
1. You either have to choose a webcam or a photo from disk - you can't start from a blank card and use Ashampoo's stock, and
2. When the "open card from disk" is selected, the app opens the My Documents folder, not the My Photos folder or even the Ashampoo stock...
Otherwsise, makes nice cards ......

Kyle,
Yes, I noticed that too. But on the brighter side, I have discovered that if you use it again, and press "Open Photo from Disk" button, it remembers your choice and opens the right folder (My Pictures) next time.
Cheers,

Downloaded and installed quickly. My experience with Ashampoo programs is positive. Programs like this one specialize and do a particular thing. Yes, I know that the marvelous god like PS does everything... sure.. uh ha. But why do things the hard way when a click will do?

No request for share or email address for download link. Download took 20 seconds. Email response to register took less than 15 seconds. Loaded size on disk 236 MB. The 150 MB disk space required is the working space needed to process the card you are creating.
The program allows the creation of single page picture cards that are suitable for sending electronically. I was looking for a program to create and print traditional folded cards printed on card stock.
Electronic cards say to me that you "care enough to give the very least!"

gru, when that happens to me, I have to turn off my kaspersky antivirus, reboot computer with it iff, install the new program, then turn back on my antivirus. It works, but is a pain, and a little dangerous.

Sounds interesting, but why is the setup file so large? Furthermore, if that file alone is 211MB, how can it require only 150MB of hard disk space?

BAW30s,
It took approximately 18 minutes to download this using Frontier Fios at 50/50. No problems activating it and installing. Have not had time as yet to look at the program itself. Just wanted to comment on your question regarding the amount of space. I can only presume that you have to realize that the 211 MB download is probably necessary to put the entire program onto your computer. But I would also think that running the program for cards or whatever cannot take up all the programs resources just to do one individual card. It's like purchasing a computer with a certain amount of gigs on the hard drive, then discovering that so much of that gig amount is used for the software installed prior to purchasing the computer.

mardel,
Or extremely poor programming more like.

Bob,
Yes, that's an interesting perspective. If that is the case, this is an unusual program, as in my experience they normally take up more space when decompressed. I had also imagined that the setup file itself would be included in the hard disk space needed for the program, but perhaps, given that in the past most programs came on CDs, that isn't the custom - a fact worth knowing. Admittedly on my own computer they would be on two separate drives, but they still both need space!
