49, Don Hill: ya'd think "Register for SPAM" is an Oxymoron but it is not, when giving your email for the purpose of receiving what is contractually a free full license key, which is what GAOTD offer by their terms and marketing... but you are enrolled in a vendors comercial marketing mailing list without your explicit consent because they provide no way at the point that you supply the email address and other personal information a method to express the choice to opt-in or opt-out of the undesirable secondary use they intend to retain and put your data to... it is, in fact "Unsolicited Comercial Email" which is by definition SPAM to most people.

I hope Giovanni's blushing (because of comment #32) will have passed by the time of the next giveaway, so he will not be too embarrassed to visit here and provide some more links. :)

you got the QoS backwards. qOs limits you to using NO MORE than 80% of your bandwidth so that voip or streaming content have a little share of the b/width for 4kb packet operations.
you stated:
"3) This program can disable QoS. This can improve your connection by allowing all available bandwidth to be used and not limit it to 20% of maximum."
it holds 20% of "maximum available b/width" in reserve for those special times like... when the wife goes to the hardware store for you and calls while your d/loading massive amounts of that "special content" you like so much and "magicjackme" will still work when she calls to change what you ordered.
so, qos does provide you with the "quality of life" you deserve...
more or less.

Win XP SP 3

I always select custom instal and then deselect all the extra bundled tool bars, etc.

Unless I missed something , it would not let me instal to where I wanted it and went straight to the C drive, bad !

It would not let me create a desktop short cut ONLY so I had to manually create one afterwards. No body wants their startup cluttered with icons and memory hogs so bad here as well as it ties desktop short cut with startup icon.

Once you have an account set up, their registration is a breeze , no waiting for emails, just login to your account with them.
I can live with Ashampoo emails as Companies have to make a living and their products are generally good . Not tried to test the speed yet , but disappointed so far.

The 'Setup' file properties shows that the program's version is '3.1.1', after running 'Setup' the window shows that it is 'Ashampoo Internet Accelerator 3 v.3.20, and after installing the program, under 'Help'-->'About Internet Accelerator' it shows that it is 'Version 3.20'

So what is the version number of the program? Thank You in advance to anybody for the proper info.

Not sure about internet speed, but DOWNLOAD speed increased from 30-220KB/sec, to 300-650KB/sec. Sometimes even more - up to 800-900KB/sec. Thanks GtD , thanks Ashampoo - that is AWESOME.

#38 @onthespot - "...register for spam" is a contradiction in terms! You should realize that any time you fill out a form on a web page that asks for your email address, you're going to receive email from whoever owns that form, and you can be certain that they're going to try to SELL you something! That's what companies DO. It's how they get the money to PAY the developers who create the software that they sometimes give away at no charge!

Spam is UNSOLICITED email, which means the sender never got permission from you to send you email. If you don't want to receive email from a company, DON'T FILL OUT THEIR FORM! If that means you won't get their "freebie," then so be it! But DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT "SPAM" EMAILS FROM PEOPLE THAT YOU GAVE PERMISSION TO SEND YOU EMAIL IN THE FIRST PLACE!

On the same note to people who complain about repeatedly getting "spam" from the same company (Ashampoo seems to be accused of this, and I will admit that their email marketing is pretty aggressive - perhaps TOO aggressive since there seem to be regular complaints here about it): Have you ever tried clicking on the "unsubscribe" link that's always at the bottom of each and every one of those emails? If not, you might want to give it a try! If you've done that and they still send you emails after you've told them to stop, then you still have the ability to "blacklist" that sender, which instructs YOUR email service's servers (or your email client, if you're using POP3 email) to REJECT all emails from that sender. Bottom line: Once you tell someone to STOP sending you emails, any emails they send to you AFTER that can - and should - be treated as SPAM and dealt with accordingly.

In spite of the number of emails I receive from Ashampoo prompting me to "upgrade" my existing software - or to purchase one of their other (and many) diverse offerings - I quickly grab every item they offer here. As a marketer myself, I certainly don't begrudge their efforts to try to make an honest buck off of their hard work (Before you criticize anything, have YOU ever tried writing code - of ANY kind? I know some of you reading this probably are "code-writers," based on your in-depth analysis of this and other products. If you find a defect, I'm sure the developers will welcome your feedback about it so that they can correct it. But simply proclaiming "it sucks" and then putting up links that may or may not lead to "free alternatives" that may or may not perform the exact same function is tantamount to "looking a gift horse in the mouth," and I was always taught while I was growing up that it's simply RUDE to do that!

Please forgive the rant, but as an ethical online marketer (and there are a lot more of us than there are "spammers"), it really ticks me off when accusations are made which aren't based in reality. I know that there's a certain segment of the population that believes that everything should be "free" and that if one has a need for something, they should just automatically get it - without regard to where or how that thing comes from and the amount of hard work it takes to create and distribute it. To be successful (and in fact to just survive) in the long term, a business must provide value equal to or exceeding the value of the money they ask for it. If they don't, people simply won't buy their product/service, and it won't be long before that business either changes to conform to the desires of its market, or it will cease to exist!

But getting back to Ashampoo and today's offering...

When you install and register any of Ashampoo's software, you also have the option to create an account at Ashampoo's website, where you can keep track of all of the software that you've registered with them. You can even download a complete list of their software you have, along with each of their registration keys. Unlike most other vendors that participate in GOTD, if you've registered for an Ashampoo account and you happen to lose your installation of one of their "giveaway" items, you can re-download and re-install that software using the registration key that's also kept on file in your Ashampoo account. In short, even if you never pay them a single penny for any of it, Ashampoo will STILL support their software - regardless of whether you paid for it through regular sales channels, or you received it as a result of a giveaway on this site.

IMHO, that's going above and beyond what's required of them, and once again I thank GOTD and Ashampoo for providing this and other valuable items at no charge to us end users!

MATERIAL CONNECTION DISCLOSURE: I am NOT affiliated with Ashampoo or GOTD in any way. I have no financial interest in anything either of those entities does, in any venue online or offline. The opinions expressed herein are my own, and not necessarily those of Ashampoo, GiveawayOfTheDay.com, or any other company associated with today's offering. I'm a full-time independent internet marketer whose income is derived from commissions on the sale of products and services online.

Ashampoo's software isn't all bad. Ashampoo is a reseller of Softmaker Office 2012, which is absolutely the best office suite (word processor/spreadsheet/presentation graphics) available at any price. It is 100 percent compatible with Microsloth Office, at a small fraction of the price. Alas, it is not freeware like Open Office dot Aargh, or Libre, or their variations and derivatives, but it also isn't a slow, clunky, mammoth multimegabyte disk space hog.

I use Speedguide's TCP Optimizer and I like it.

If you are concerned about getting "spam" from Ashampoo: You can unsubscribe. Or better yet, you can go to Gmail or Yahoo and get a free "throwaway" address that you would use solely for software registrations.

#35: "I haven’t checked out today’s Giveaway, nor will I based on principle. Ashampoo is notorious for spam – once they get your email address, there’s no stopping the flood of useless emails. Beware!!!

I don't know, once I got tired of them offering me software for $4.95 or "how much will you give us ..." I just "unsubscribed" and that ended the opportunely of getting their software really cheap.

In general Ashampoo has good software so people ought to not fret over one that is free and doesn't do all that everyone expects.

On the other hand, if this software -doesn't- make your internet connection run faster you probably have things set right to start with. I find that most of these type programs don't make my speedy 768KB/s DSL run any faster either. ;-(

I also find that having multiple connections to the same download site really doesn't noticeably speed up the download. But it does give you a sense of power thinking that you are sucking them dry with 8 or more connections. =8-0

Thank you GOTD and Ashampoo.

Hate the way that it has hidden extras, like the conduit toolbar , and the optimiser... took me some 30 minutes to remove all reference of the toolbar from my registry.... bloody thing was so invasive.

I uninstalled the so-called internet accelerator within 10 minutes of testing it, as it made NO difference to my internet speed, anyway.

Reply   |   Comment by Scooter  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

I made the mistake of installing this program before reading the reviews. I immediately deleted it using the included "uninstall" and its STILL ON MY COMPUTER. I hate programs that do that. The next IE window I opened had the ridiculous Ashampoo toolbar (Why would I want or need that?) and this is AFTER I deleted it from my computer. Yes I can disable it (and did) but why should I have needed to do that after I deleted it? It is behavior like this that reminds me (along with all of their spam) to avoid ALL ASHAMPOO programs. (I would have remembered if I'd bothered to read the reviews first--and normally I do) I've had this trouble with their programs before. Seriously. If you google Ashampoo reviews many of their programs are flagged as malware and it is for this kind of suspicious and aggressive behavior. I don't know if it actually IS malware, but you should be able to remove a program without hassle and as I said I HAVE had trouble deleting other Ashampoo programs.

Can't make it work - comes up with error on Foxfire for instance and quits. Or just says "can't access" or "access denied"- 2 downloads and 3 tries is enough even if it's free. OH well

The previous two offers I downloaded and requested an email with the registration information. No email was sent for either offer. However, Ashampoo is continually flooding my mailbox with offers. I hesitate to purchase these because I expect that I will not receive the promised emails with the registration information.

what do you think about:
and SG TCP Optimizer

I used it and my "Speedtest" went up 10% and the ping rate went down 40%

But is there a better way or something else that will help even more?
I have Verizon FIOS but it never seems to be super fast !

Hi, if you're running Windows and your Internet/networking connections start faulting and resulting in massive slow-down, being erratic, or disconnecting from Internet altogether when online - the easiest way to diagnose problems is to go to Help/Fixing a problem/Tools/Network Diagnostics/Scan Your System..

Recently I've been there more times than I could stomach:), but at least you can see what's passing, what's failing and basically to have a clue if it's modems, filters, network adapters, servers, gateways, IP addresses etc. That's the easiest Option if you haven't got other diagnostic Tools, or you're unable to "google" for help.

Chances are, what's slowing you down is often mechanical. In our case (we connect through high speed broadband Live Box) - it was.. a coil of lines between phone line inlet (box somewhere on your wall inside the house, where telephone comes in from outside) and the rest of connecting lines throughout the house (phones, modems) and although Internet was faintly working - there was no sound whatsoever in our phones. Connecting line directly to that box on the wall (minus coil of lines, might have been that mice had something to do with it, as we live in a country and have these visitors regularly, lol) did the trick(!) Phones started working immediately and Internet connection is back to it's normal speed.

I'm writing this because SOMETIMES the "magic" you're expecting from various Internet "Accelerators" is simply a beautiful notion..:) It really is worthwhile to check other things first. There could be numbers of things you can tweak to speed it up (little bit) when you examine all the settings! If you're not sure - don't accept anything "automatic" either, as tweaking Internet settings can sometimes be compared to tweaking Registry, and do more harm than good in further run.. Naturally I have experinence in that field enough to write a book, trust me!:)

There's always help (I'm sure) from your Internet Providers Service (whom you're paying) to see if you're happy with basic speed they providing for you, as there is often not much magic you can treat yourself to on that score, or "cheat" bare facts..:) Otherwise there would be no "Packages" available for the area you live in? Always hold your Providers to account, check the manuals your broadband comes with (if that's what you're using) and see what can be "squeezed" out of regular (proper) settings, it's a good practice for optimal speed!

Thanks GAOTD, I'll be passing this Offer, I think I provided comprehensive enough explanation why.. and because I too don't believe in that kind of "magic". I leave it to experts and Users who in the past benefited from Software presented today, or similar. I only share my example and simple philosophy:)

1. Not sure, but I think it slowed down my connection.
2. I'm not going to use GOTD if we have to keep going to vendor websites to register for spam. It's just not worth the time.

11. One Nut:
On the other point of reseting TCP/IP settings in the case of malicious tampering... I prefer using the proper method of tweaking the required INF file to make the IP protocol removable and then simply uninstal the bad configuration and then re-add it, followed by returning the required INF settings back to normal so the digital signature is intact for future use and safety. In this respect Google is very useful for finding the precise instructions.

The above method will refresh everything, I doubt AIA3 revert to default settings will restore the entire protocl stack including file referneces to factory specs! Of course I could be wrong as it is closed source software... But I doubt it.

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

11, One Nut:
Last time I looked, http specs mandated a maximum of 2 simultaneous connections between each endpoint IP number, and that should allow the connection to run at saturation of whatever the infrastructure can support, bearing in mind the hosting service may impose its own traffic shaping of say 0.5Mbit/s per connection. If you adjust your browser settings to permit more you may steal more bandwidth on such traffic shaped services but they would be well within their rights to ban your systems digital signature from their server for abuse. In all cases, supplying services over the internet takes bandwidth and that normally is a finite resource that costs service providers real money.

You may notice on 3rd party download managers that offer connection options in excess of 2 per site they also invaribly spoof their User-Agent Ident string too because they know full well that services do NOT like their systems to be abused by the non-compliant download managers that can in sufficient quantities bring down an enterprise standard web hosting service.

Big pauses when a web page initially loads is more the fault of the webdesigner by designing the page to not be able to render until ALL the content has been downloaded. pre-load was great when a page only had a couple of key well optimised graphics files but in this day and age when a pages graphics content could easily exceed a couple of megabytes it is a flawed paradigm IMHO.

My system would gain nothing from this type of tool, most of those that do not know how to optimise their internal phone line connections and ADSL line layouts and micro-filter arangments and cannot force their ISP's to use the correct settings on the exchanges DSLAM... they will probably be unable to spot any diffierence uppart from every now and then certain sites will keep dropping connections on them or fail to load all page graphic items as excessive connection attempts are declined at the server.

In America anyway, Comcast and Charter and the others spend a lot of resources increasing their available speeds; with the latest protocols for modems, and other hardware developments, speed is no longer an issue for most users. I'm a big Ashampoo fan, and that program above , Optimizer 9 is excellent; the offer today is a mystery to me, but I recommend Ashampoo, five stars.

after running auslogic's boost speed (internet optimizer) I can truely say that it helped my connection ping speed wise, But this ASHAMPOO INTERNET OPTIMIZER IS a 'total joke' besides the way ashampoo operates, ie: having one get codes via email is a joke as well, and I get ill feelings everytime I see there ads within softwares BUYERS BEWARE... ASHAMPOO IS THIRD RATE 'JUST 'OK' WARE, WHEREAS AUSLOGIC FOR example is in the top 4 for the PC, and that's my take on it all, CheerzZz (. )

@# 20 Giovanni : Grazie amico. Useful comments as usual! You could also have added Naviscope (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Other-Internet-Related/Naviscope.shtml)

@ all the dissatisfied users. I'm rather astonished to read this program wouldn't work. They have a free version from 2009 and Softpedia, as well as the users are positive about this one. (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Modem-Tweak/Ashampoo-Internet-Accelerator.shtml ). I installed and ran the software but can't check the results: you have to restart Windows to activate the new settings and, as my cable connection is so irregular (between less than 5 and up to over 70 Mbps!) I cannot compare "before & After" performance...
BTW, the installation is one of the nicest available enabling you not to install anything you don't want, up to only proceed for the one single user. If they added the opportunity (as most GOTD offerings do) to also choose the folder for the Start Menu, it would, well... be perfect!

So, thanks GOTD and Ashampoo.

And if the here advertised "Hosts File Checker – stop spyware redirecting you" function really works, that alone would make this a worthy piece of software

# all those who complain about Ashampoo's "Spam", well, what the heck, they provide lots of giveaway's of good software (I've at least a dozen) and isn't it normal they would try to make some money as well? And, is it so difficult to unsubscribe or filter to your Spam folder?

Nr 1 and 3, read nr11's post.

NR11, you hit the nail on the head. The software can reset things back to normal and can be used just as we use cleanup programs. I have done all the physical tweaks I can on my network (Cat6e cables, gigaport switch, 802.11n wireless router, DOCIS3.0 modem, up'd the download connections etc). This software looks promising for those who just need another tool in their kit to get the most out of their network. If settings are already where they should be, then not much will happen upfront, but later, or in certain situations, it will help. So before people bash this software and give it a thumb down seem to be here only for "free" stuff and forgetting that the developers are hoping we will find problems, give them feedback and spread the word about its software. If all you’re looking for is a free ride, or a magic bullet, then I suggest you point your browser to freedownloads.com (CNET) or stay up and watch late night tv. Just saying.

I just get the most out of my internet speed by buying a fast router, proper connections for the router/modem, have a decent broadband internet service, even did the entire in-wall ethernet wiring and coupling myself with CAT6e wiring. After all that, just the obvious things like making sure you aren't trying to go fast on the internet while downloading.

I never trusted any of these programs that can boost your internet speed, because your internet speed is only limited by how many people are using it at the same time, what kind of devices (router + ethernet hub for me) and wiring you have, and how many programs that need to access the internet you (and every computer in your house) are running. It is all just common sense. I get about 25mbps on average in the middle of the day, (with 4 computers, and 3 or so devices) and I have never used any of the software like this to "fix" it.

Oh, one last thing, I hate to be "that guy", but please don't use Internet Explorer. Computers that I have to fix have a lot of problems that stem from Internet Explorer. Get yourself either FireFox or Google Chrome, either one is much more faster for your computer and internet speed! and are a helluva more secure.

I get almost one full second lag on my browser start because of the ashampoo toolbar. Fortunately, I'm not very time sensitive and conduit search portals load lightening fast.

The truth is that I like their toolbar, and I use their conduit search page as my homepage. It has useful links I use everyday, and I'm not having Internet speed issues. Thanks for another free deal ashampoo!

...and you can send me those emails once every few weeks - I promise not to come here and accuse you of spamming me - I like the discounted deals they bring once in awhile.

... and don't worry about the criticism - it's only because of a small crowd of people who wanted something different today.

Does not function for me.
Usually Ashampoo softwares are good. But not this.
It screwed up my internet connection and cannot connect to the video drama I was watching. Fortunately set a Restore point befoire installing this GOTD software.

Did a system restore.
Choose not the simply uninstall because the Auto Optimisation in the software may have changed the settings for Internet connection in my PC.
A simple Uninstall will remove the software but may not restore your internet settings that have been changed by the software.

After PC Restore, the program files remain in the folder and you have to delete them all, including the folder.

This GAOTD is not a bad app but there's no point of downloading it or pay 20 bucks for it, simply because there are plenty of FREE better alternatives out there....as long as you are aware of them, of course!!

Sometime slow web speed connection is due to the presence of unneeded and hungry resource Windows services....so why not optimize them (for FREE of course...LOL!!) in order to make your CPU, RAM and internet connection work faster and smoothier??

Finally, if you are a frantic PC GAMER, just use one or all of these amazing FREE APPS which do more or less the same things as LATENCY OPTIMIZER 3.0 (namely reducing the high latency while playing online games so as to make your system and internet connection more responsive, faster and stable), with the only difference that they don't charge you a dime for it...sounds good, right??? LOL!!!

P.S. Hey dudes...when you make heavy criticisms about controversial GAOTD like today's one, wouldn't be nice to mention sometimes at least one better FREE alternative of it?? What's the point of saying "oh this is pure crap...useless software....10 thumbs down but need full time job to explain why I'm saying that etc..." and then never quote a better FREE alternative??

Great now I have 5 Internet accelerators, but compared with Internet Cyclone 2 and Latency Optimizer 3 this is not working as it should and just sitting at my computer for nothing, so uninstall, unfortunately. And I was hoping something good because it is "Ashampoo". However I cheer up to see Ashampoo Burning Studio here at Giveawayoftheday some day :)

Eccelent software!

To those who find the activation process slow; you will get a key that, in opposit to normal GiveAway products, can be used even if you have to reinstall the software!

In other words; you don´t have to install it on the GiveAway day.

Thumbs up for Ashampoo!

@#11 regarding #2: Some servers don't like multiple connections and will bump you off if it detects them. I hacked Firefox once to make multiple connections, but disabled it after getting disconnected during downloads.

A bit baffling, why Ashampoo should think it worth the bother of involving itself in the Magic Potions market: what next, a 'memory optimizer' that will boost your PC's performance??? A 'registry booster' that will make your computer feel brand new??

I've DL'd and run this app though without any expectation of improvement -- I'm on Vista, and Windows does a great job from Vista onwards where tcp /ip settings are concerned, without need of commercial software to help it out. My non-expectation was fulfilled: in my case, this Ashampoo software achieved nothing at all.

What's especially mystifying about all this is that Ashampoo is not an expert in this particular field, yet seems to think it can charge $20 anyway. By contrast, one particular authority on Net connectivity problems has been established for donkey's years:

and not only has a worldwide forum where specific help is instantly available, it also offers the deceptively simple yet reliable SG TCP Optimizer, the fastest way there is of tackling connectivity issues.

Thanks then, GAOTD, and Ashampoo, for today's opportunity, but it's as difficult to see why anyone would want this as it is to understand why Ashampoo thinks it's worth trying to sell it -- TCP Optimizer has been free of charge for years and years and, as noted, comes from a resource specifically dedicated to this aspect of computing, rather than a software publisher seemingly trying to shove too many fingers into too many different pies. . .

It's a fact, that ashampoo usually developes solid software, but this optimizer is not worth givin' your email for. You'll get spammed almost at daily basis. Just a warning. I'll be honest to state, that I didn't try it out, because it doesn't support Google Chrome. Maybe my luck - after I've read the reviews till now. However, I would be gratefull to beofferes theit burning Studio and WinOptimizer as well. Thank you to GAOTD and ashampoo even I pass this one. There's a new day tomorrow to look forward to.

People if your using this to tweak your connection, you proubly don't have a clue on how to properly benchmark a network/internet connection. The #1 post here, ignore it. This can improve your bandwidth in the following circumstances, else you will proubly visually notice no change at all.

1) Your tcp/ip settings have been changed by a malicious piece of software (virus, malware) and you need to reset them back to a useable state. This software could help there.

2) Your browser speed will improve if you allow it more connections to download various items. Anyone who has used a download manager knows that making more connections for a file from the same server, 95% of the time will boost the transfer speeds if your connection isn't maxed out yet. This program allows more simutaneous connections, so if a page has a lot of pictures, it WILL improve unless your on dialup.

3) This program can disable QoS. This can improve your connection by allowing all available bandwidth to be used and not limit it to 20% of maximum. Doing so might slow down other programs you open that need bandwidth if your already using your max at that time though. This is rarely an issue when used. I suggest to disable it.

If your using the default settings with windows, and everything is smooth atm, no program available will improve your maximum bandwidth, PERIOD. They can only help by fixing settings and adding more queues so you use up all your avialble bandwidth. Your isp is who sets your connection rate along with other hardware outside your system. The windows default settings at this time are pliable from 56k to fiber connections, Vista\Win7 and up automatically adjusts this window.

Choose custom installation next time. It notifies you what an executable installs aside from its implied name.

Might be useful for Windows ME and earlier. IIRC, Win NT and later got good defaults for the net-relevant parameters.
