I picked up Ashampoo 2010 Advanced from GOTD two years ago. It is the program I still use today. I've also added other Ashampoo programs when they come out as well. They do send you a lot of emails afterwards so may be best to give an alternate email address. I've had no issues with myt 2010 so I will pass on this one. Thanks again GOTD.

No offense but Ashampoo just isn't sending me registration info as if I'm already a registered user (which I might be) but then they're not sending out my password (when I click the traditional 'forgot my password' prompt). So its free but impossible to register. Very disappointing.

#16 - Phil K
#57 - Frank:
Don't need IE to get license key. How do I know? Because using Firefox 10.0.7esr I got it with no problem after making sure that I had Javascript turned on and NoScript turned off for Ashampoo site. I am using Win7x64 if that makes any difference (it probably doesn't). No error messages, either. BTW, I agree with those who say this is a good software - it's the one I turn to for almost all my burning needs and I have tried quite a few others which it is better than, including Nero. Oh, FWIW, today's GOTD is being given away also today and for at least the past several months at the V3.co.uk software store website, so if GOTD was supposed to have an exclusive on this exact same product for giving away on today's date, then that's not true.

#9 & #19 - I am always using http://10minutemail.com for registrations like this. They can try to spam me all they want.

Ashampoo's site not sending registration key. Asks for e-mail address and then instantly proceeds as if I have a password (I might have registered with Ashampoo in a previous millenium..). If I use a different e-mail address - after half an hour - nothing appears. I like Ashampoo products but this is lame.

@ #57: you don't need to use IE in order to get the KEY. Firefox is very much suitable for that!

If I wanted ALL of my browsers settings changed, slow system, 1000 other extras installed, I would have done so myself.
1- Install was fine.
2- Activation didn't go through.
3- Changed my settings in Firefox, IE, Opera- search page, added a crappy toolbar to bloated sites.
4- Uninstall DOES NOT remove all of the above. Each "extra" needs uninstalled.
All in all. Waste of 30 minutes cleaning my system from this.
WinXP Pro.

Yes, this can be obtained for free, but it is still an outstanding program from a decent company. I have gotten (and still get) more spam from some of the other companies I have only done business with here on GAOTD, difference is, Ashampoo has some really unique/cheap offers if you check out the emails. Don't want them any more, go to their website and get off their list. I have many free and paid for DVD burners, but this is often my "goto" program basically because it is quick and easy. IMHO for most of us, this is really all we need for this purpoase. Ashampoo is one of the few companies that give you fully functional software to try out for 30-40 days, with no limitations. I currently have 8 of their programs, some free some bought, that I use regularly.
Belive me or don't, I have no connection to Ashampoo, other than being a customer of theirs for a good many years.

Well my "test" laptop (XP / 512 MB) got the blue screen of death after this. Lucky I keep ghost images - it was the only way to fix it.
I can't say for certain it was this s/w but I've had no problems at all until I installed it.
So if you're on XP take a backup first!
Needless to say I won't take a chance

Why does everyone get bent out of shape about 'product spam'? It's not a problem as long as it stays out of my Inbox.!
I created a folder in my email titled 'Product Spam' then filtered all email from Ad-Aware, Avast, Nero, Ashampoo, LogMeIn etc to that folder.
If I ever need to find a certain one, I just click on the From header and they are grouped in alphabetical order by sender. Or Subject header as well as Date.
To # 74 -Automatically deleting emails is not always good. Just incase a good email gets filtered erroneously. Most email programs including Yahoo, AOL etc have filtering.
So nobody has to look for message #74, I copied it below:
To those who always complain about being flooded with emails from Ashampoo or any other entity: Windows Live Mail provides for creation of mail rules that automatically move email received from a specified address directly into the delete folder. I assume other services have something similar.

To all those recipients of unwanted emails, toolbars etc: NEVER EVER use express install. Use Custom install and read the small print and untick the the preticked toolbars and requests for emails. Nero is only bloatware because people install all the features. Install from custom, as with all programmes, and install only what you need!!

I consider Ashampoo Burning Studio an essential program. Consequently, I have it on all four computers in my home. After every OS upgrade, the first two programs I install are Ashampoo Burning Studio and Ashampoo Office. Needless to say, I give it a definite thumbs up. Many thanks to Ashampoo.

I have Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 Free and have nothing but praise for this excellent product.
I can't remember if it was a giveaway or download direct from the creators, but certainly after registering the product I never had any issues whatsoever with spam e-mails and dodgy toolbars (but then, I always read the small print and use custom installs).
I use this software for 2 purposes only: as stand-alone software for creating back up DVD/CDs of data (music and images saved/downloaded/ripped from CDs) and in tandem with DVD Shrink for burning perfect DVDs from my own collection (as back-ups with no zone and no DRM).
In both cases I have had no reason whatsoever to complain about Ashampoo despite using it on several computers (running XP and 7) with different DVD burners (integrated Sony on desktop and external USB on netbook). For me, this is essential software that delivers its promises.

why is it that everyone moans about Ashampoo flooding your e-mail box with spam, I have brought loads of their products, and all I get is a monthly e-mail informing me of what offers they have, and the best thing about Ashampoo is, should you ever lose your Licence Code, log into their site and hey presto there they are. If you uncheck the default settings box and click on custom settings instead, unclick what you don't want simple.

. Here we go again. . . Ashampoo and the Spam Brigade. If you're worried about being spammed, from any source, get a free gmail account. Takes less than 5 minutes. Then, after you've received your first communication from someone who you don't wish to hear from ever again, tick the box next to it and go to the gmail filter options. Then tick: "Do not send to spam, just delete." That takes another minute. Or less.
End of story. Why so many have so much trouble managing the brain-dead task of using server-side (i.e., NOT on your home computer) intervention to stop junk mail getting through baffles me. Server-side intervention is always, but always, the way to go. Messing around with Windows Mail options, or home-side solutions like Mailwasher, is messing around in the stable, after the horse has bolted.
As to Ashampoo: I've said it before, and will at risk of boring everyone to tears, say it again. It's a good software company. It has aggressive marketing tactics but -- and it's a big but -- they can often play to your advantage. I have an Ashampoo account and have purchased genuinely good stuff (i.e., stuff I needed) at prices which I consider to be fair -- not the bonkers "retail" prices which Ashampoo and many another commercial outfit posts as a nominal RRP.
Finally, finally. . . Ashampoo needs a kick in the pants for continuing on with promoting software which doesn't actually exist. As here. This product, offered on GAOTD, is vapour ware. It exists only as a download. It is not a retail product. It does not have a retail price (hence, Ashampoo's finessing of the price by reference to the 'real' Burning Studio 11.)
I do wish Ashampoo would stop this idiotic behaviour. It does itself no favours. Does GAOTD users no favours, either.
Verdict: if you want to try it, then take advantage of today's offer. You may like it. Or you may not. You'll lose nothing by doing so -- but no, you won't have saved a single cent, either, on a purchase price which doesn't exist because this 'product' is not now nor ever has been. . . Purchasable.

I do have the Ashampoo Burning Studio earlier version that I got full edition through a DVD with a computer magazine special issue. Great program and a keeper! I do agree with fellow commentators here that they do need to simplify registration and probably do away with the toolbar.

I've had various free giveaways of Ashampoo Burning Studio over the years. I much prefer this to the bloated (and expensive) Nero. It does most things I require efficiently, and is often given away free. Just remember to select custom install, and deselect the toolbar, etc when installing, and you have an excellent burner for nothing.
Was handy for me, as just got a new notebook. Thanks GAOTD. :)

When I registered the software I used an email address that I hardly ever use and where I never get any mails. A couple of seconds after I pressed the send button on the registration page I received a very strange spam that had nothing to do with Ashampoo. A very peculiar coincident! By the way: the mail with the registration code I have so far (30 min later) not seen anything of!

Ashampoo have never managed to "overburn" a disc, unlike their German neighbours Nero.

I'm always troubled by "special versions" that seem to be written specifically for a GAOTD giveaway, as it appears is the case here. That puts us in the Alpha/Beta Tester category, which isn't the purpose of this site. And it does include additional risk, because a new compilation took place with altered features. In some cases with limitations, and others just a lesser version. But with all these versions available, its very hard to know what would be best (also newest) for your particular needs.
I seriously doubt though that this program will duplicate game disks for PSx game controllers, as mentioned early on. Or at least none have in the past. I want backups for such DVDs and have found nothing so far that will do that, without hardware modifications.
With Ashampoo, I have to join the group annoyed by all the Spam, from which one cannot unsubscribe. So its very important to use a secondary (unimportant) email address, and also not to use Express Install. Ashampoo gets beaten up so much for spamming, you would think they'd change their methods.
To the plus side, Ashampoo does seem to produce reasonably reliable software in most cases, which mostly does what it says. So they seem to have a pretty good handle on the programming side of things.

Those concerned about spam from Ashampoo or elsewhere should acquaint themselves with the Firefox add-on Bloody Vikings. Odd name but right click in a space requesting your email address and up pops a list of about 10 or more temporary email services. Choose one and it'll automatically input an email address and open a tab with access to that address.
Other browsers have temporary email add-ons as well; just not as nice as Bloody Vikings.
As for this offering, it might be a stripped down version but it does what it says and that's pretty much everything that I need.

I have AShampoo and have been pleased with it for burning software. Regarding "spam", it is not spam if you agree to emails from the company. I did and found myself inundated with Ashampoo offers. However, visiting their site and adjusting email preferences quickly put an end to the unwanted offers. I reiterate, good, easy to use software. Thanks GOTD for the offer.

I purchased Ashampoo Burning Studio 11 after enjoying our previous Giveaway of v. 10, and so I don't need this v. 10.0.15 (a.k.a. 2012). Thanks for the heads-up other commenters! Overall I like it, though CD's do seem to fail more often than Nero does. This could be the batch of bargain discs I purchased and not Ashampoo's fault.
The big drawback I see is that I haven't been able to full copy a music CD without pauses being inserted between the tracks (not as a music disc, nor as a straight disc copy). It kills concept CDs like Dark Side of the Moon, and live CDs where the clapping suddenly stops, then resumes. Nero does not do this to me, and iTunes minimizes it if you rip to MP3 first, then cut out the spacing between tracks in the burning options. The problem with the iTunes solution is the loss in quality.
In Ashampoo, "Copy a CD" should be an exact copy. If the original didn't have pauses between songs, and the "copy" does, it is not an exact copy.
Also, it's a bit slow to load initially and a bit slow to burn. I'd give it a 7.5/10, because these are the only drawbacks I've encountered. It's still the main burner I use, because my Nero is on an older machine.
Finally, if you don't like their emails, you can choose to opt out. Simple instructions in the email footer tell you how.

NR 9: Spot on. I registered version 11 and I ended up having to tage EVERY Ashampoo email (and I got 3 or 4 a day) as SPAM so it goes directly into my trash bin. And yes, this on a throw away acount. I no longer download and register their stuff because they just don't know when to stop with the emails. Even when asked.

I have a question. I used a older version of this and it did not have the capability to shrink the DVD to a smaller size so I can use regular DVDs instead of double layer. Does this version do that? I do not want to buy DL DVDs because of the price and have no use for burning programs that can not shrink the DVD.
Thank you in advance for your help.
And thank you GOTD and Ashampoo for the freebies.
