I just see on my Windows 10 64 bit PC that I can also make backups with file history!

Save everything you have of your document folder on an external SSD, (USB stick or other storage objects). Then you have no problems later when it's time to buy a new PC/laptop! And also because everything that has to do with PCs/laptop has quickly outdated!
Then you don't have to make a backup every few weeks.

How do you know how much space you will need to backup to? My PC is full so I do not know how many DVD etc I will need for backup, which is nearly all photos, games and artwork

I've used Ashampoo Backup for years. Its good. I use both AOEMI and Ashampoo for full disk backup. The key with any of this software is being familiar with it. Best to do a full disk backup every so often, then can restore your full system if get a bug that can be more trouble to root out than just doing a restore. Ashampoo backup will let you create a USB or CD boot disk to do a restore from. Get a good, large separate SSD drive and dedicate it to your backup file for Ashampoo. Then if get a problem, restore back to where you had no problem. Keep a couple of dates of a backup of your system. Run a new backup every few weeks or when feel good idea and delete an old backup for the newer one.

What advantage is it to back up an older PC with, for example, a Windows Vista OS, with PS2 for keyboard and mouse, without USB ports and an HD of 125 MB, with an optical disk that can only read. Something like that is for a museum.

I have been using Ashampoo Backup since before it was Ashampoo Backup (used to be Ocster Backup Pro). It has saved my butt on more than one occasion. I have found it to be reliable, dependable, and easy to use. Those of you who don't have a working backup system should consider this lifetime license. Even though this is an older version, it is still very capable of meeting most user needs. The freely available restore software (download from the backup software for CD or USB creation) is also easy to use. I rarely post here, but like this backup software enough to endorse it publicly.
