Installed Artipic, then at the first opening of it found the interface oddly familiar. That's because, for about 17 years now I've been dragging Photoshop 7 with me to each new OS I've used. Starting with Windows 98SE to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. For that reason, to me Artipic is just (Photoshop 7 Lite). Although this software is cheaper than Photoshop. It's embarrassing what I paid for Photoshop at that time and that's why it will die with me. Thanks to GOTD and Artipic.

Artipic is actually fairly impressive -- it checks most of the boxes, stuff that should be there in a good image editing app -- especially since it seems to come from a small dev shop. And with a quick look it seems that the interface, the way you work with it, is laid out logically so that you could get up & running right from the start.

Would I buy it? For $30 no. It's not that Artipic isn't worth the money, but when I can buy PaintShop Pro Ult. for $35 [or less in future sale offers?], it's a no-brainer to get that much more full-featured app for just a little more cash. And it's not that Artipic is overcharging IMHO -- it's just the realities of the market. I would probably pay the $15 advertised here today, if I didn't have PSP 2018 Ult. already -- then again if I didn't have PSP already, I might have bought this for $15 & skipped that purchase.

It is a bit annoying, not being told [outside of the comments] that Artipic is 64 bit only. I've no sure idea where or why the recommended 15GB of disk space -- my only guess is that multiple copies of whatever image(s) you're working on may be stored to provide non-destructive editing. But the app itself takes up 112MB with a 2nd folder in [UserName]\ AppData\ Local\ taking up 4.5MB. [Please note that since Artipic is 64 bit only I could not record all changes made -- files in that 2nd folder were all I could find, but others may be added that I didn't find.] Changes to the registry are very light -- Artipic would run copying the program folder from a VM & running it, but it wouldn't open image files until actually installed.

Trying Artipic out, I was slightly annoyed by floating [vs. docked by default] windows, though that's something many are probably used to, e.g. GIMP users. The only surprise was that it doesn't have an eyedropper for setting white balance. It does use layers, & will let you use layer masks, which IMHO meets the bar for real use editing. I liked that the preset effects, which in most any editing app are basically collections of filter settings, didn't go overboard towards the surreal, like so many competing products [looking at you Franzis]. Artipic will open RAW files, though like most every editing app short of P/Shop [which has a RAW module similar to what's in Lightroom] won't do much more than process them into editable images. Artipic also doesn't have the big [huge?] library of camera & lens corrections that some other apps have.

All in all I think Artipic is well worth checking out if 1) you don't have something like PSP or P/Shop, & 2) the 6 mo. GOTD license doesn't turn you off.

mike, if you really want it (even with 50% off), it's easter and they have promo codes due to that applicable on the base price, i could buy it for just $9,90 from their website thru PayPal now.

kui_, i found a direct link to the offer, it's Euro, not Dollar https://www.artipic.com/products-3/

I believe todays price can be found by replacing 3 with 2 at the end of the link.

I know it may sound completely hilarious but the program requires minimum 14 (!) GB free disk space on the C: drive in order to start, as pointed out in the requirements. So i can't really try it out right now. This is the first time ever in like 10 years this has happened. Also, the newest version is 2.7.0 btw., since this giveaway is pre-registered, i guess it's impossible to get the latest version with it. I'm out of words there, literally. :D

Other than that, Google's Nik Collection is a pretty decent contender to todays offer and free since quite some time.

What does Expires 30.09.2018! means ? The program stop working ?

NYB, pretty much yes. Last time they had a discounted upgrade offer after expiration for GOTD users, not sure if it's the case this time too.

NYB, 30.09.2018 is the European format for the U.S.' 09.30.2018 . . . Besides, if you had read the description, you would have read "... 6 months license."

Suze,

He wasn't confused about the date format. He wanted to know how to interpret "expires" -- a vague word commonly found in GOTD offers, and which often has a different meaning depending on the developer's policy.

It says available for $14.95 but the site says it's $29.95 ? Is there a special giveaway offer somewhere? Also is there a giveaway version for the Mac?

Reply   |   Comment by audiomonk  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

audiomonk, found this on there website. "One purchase is enough for all your devices you would run Artipic on: MS Windows, Mac OS, etc." therfore it suggests it's cross platform. Dont know about the mac download but from what they are saying on key for all platforms.

audiomonk, Thirty dollars for a one year license. This giveaway is for a six month license. Hence the fifteen dollars.

TK, their website says: "Pay once and enjoy!", i'm assuming it's a lifetime license for the current version. One license can be used on multiple devices and operating systems.

The license agreement mentions the activation but not duration, as you wrote. http://artipic.com/terms-conditions.html
