Installed this on Win10 Pro ast night! My monitor is a 24" HD and the pictures are very nice! I have been messing around with this for considerable tim and finally have it pared down to an acceptable level of clutter! I do not like the pop ups and find the user interface to be cumbersome and less than intuitive.

I am going to leave this for the images for now! Call me old fashioned but I still use a $2.00 day planner and calender! It's always there as long as I don't get flooded out! LOL

Thanks Again!

Rick Martin, Actually, that's the right attitude! If you check the site http://epixeditions.com you'll see it's all about the pictures and as it says there, the package 'contains the free software'. So, it's more for the people who like the photographed theme, in this case Monaco Aquarium, than for the hardcore software fans.

Thanks for posting this comment!

Rick Martin, I thought the same about the pop-ups on almost every one of their pix. But, after I added my own pix, I figure that I probably won't click on or buy most of their pix, so it's good enough for my lacking Win8.1 laptop. And, we used to test/try tons of software during the beginning of freewarewiki.com. I wish that Clif would revive it. But, our newest family addition keeps us pretty busy. He's 4 and loves gaming on tablets.

I did not like the image this put on my computer because it is too "busy" for my taste. So I uninstalled the program and did a system restore, but the busy image and calendar are still there. Does anyone know how to make this go away?

Jim, I finally figured out how to personalize the desktop and select one of the Windows standard images, so I am less aggravated now. :-)

Would love to use this, but the installation does not work in my Win 10 x64 system. Maybe that's a good thing, based on the problems that have already been reported. Thanks for trying, folks!

AnAceBuyer,

I also had issues installing this software on my Win 10 x64 system, and even after it was installed it would not run from the default location. It only ran once I changed the desired destination to the "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" locations.

Anyway, I recommend to try again until it does install, and a quick log out / log in after installing should be done, as that made the last attempt a success for me.

Developer: As this software uses the NET Framework, perhaps it can use a recompiled update which could prevent the problems some users are having. While my system did not freeze, there is a noticeable extended delay once the program is launched. The same is true for the online 6.2 version as well. Just a though. :D

arttronics, Err... this software does NOT use the NET framework! Maybe GOTD installer does? Extended installing may be due to your virus scanner settings. Than again, you would have noticed the same when installing any software downloaded from the internet...

I am going to rate this at 47, mainly for the office. We liked how the tambourine came in nice and loud but it faded a little faster than we like. The beat is good, and easy to dance to. just a little to slow and I could hardly hear the base guitar. I would buy it.

the truth train, Ha ha, I think someone dropped a bit of acid in your morning coffee, Bro', but cool entertainment, anyway. Btw, thanks a lot for the Calender. My Grandson loves this eye candy, while I'll do with Efficient Mans Organizer.

Pretty bad. Sticky and while I was programming froze my comp. I have a 4Gb Ram win7 and it takes a lot of memory to freeze it. Am uninstalling it. Sorry but it is no fun.

denis denis matringe, ePix Calendar doesn't freeze anything. If it would be causing the problem you described, we'd be covered by tons of complaints, and we're not. Anyway, you said you were programming. I'd say you should look for the cause in your programming environment, not our program. Of course, not everyone needs or likes such tools, and that's fine. But blaming our program for problems cause by who knows what, is well...not nice, mildly put.

Developer, Computer works fine; install your software, computer has problems; uninstall your software, computer works fine. Seems to me that your software is less robust than you think.

Thanks, but no thanks. This was nothing like what I expected. I ended up with so much 'rubbish' on my screen that I couldn't recognise my icons any more. Sure there was probably a nice picture of an aquarium somewhere (I could see little bits of it between a page of text I couldn't read and what little I could recognise of my desktop. Even after uninstalling the program which was reported as being fully completed, the rubbish on my screen remained. Had to re-setup the entire desktop. Not impressed.

4BunnyRabbits, It looks like the program wasn't correctly installed. I don't mean the "rubbish" as you call the images, but the fact that the desktop didn't revert to it's original state automatically. Namely, it should have reverted without any extra intervention. Have you tried restarting your PC?

Reply   |   Comment by Developer  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

Developer, Yes I rebooted my computer twice but each time the cluttered image came back. A search found all traces of your program had been uninstalled but I still had a screen that was bits of the aquarium image in the background, some sort of a note page covering about a quarter of the screen that I could not read, a 'calendar' running up the right hand side of the screen that was covering important information I did not want covered, bits of my original icons were visible but the names were not readable. The computer was unusable. I had to ask my daughter (who has better eyesight than me) to 'fix' it and it took several attempts to rebuild and restore the original desktop. I say again - not impressed. I am using a Win 10/64 system maybe that is the problem. We have been programming and using computers for over forty years so are not novices, this was the hardest 'uninstall' I have ever done!!!!!

Installed on 64-bit Windows 8.1 system. Installation and automatic activation was straightforward, with no surprises. The license agreement gives an address and website for the company, located in Croatia. The website is in perfect English, is up to date and has a contact form.

I was unable to get the program to run except when starting it in my sandbox. Task Manager lists it as a 32-bit application. Once open in the sandbox, the program seems well designed. There are 12 pictures included, which can be previewed . The images become your desktop wallpaper and can be set to change at intervals from monthly to as frequently as every five minutes. A calendar is placed on your desktop, with 48 options for the layout design. There are many options for customizing the display. Notes are easy to add to the calendar. No holidays are included by default (each nation has their own, after all) but there is an easy to use option to add holidays yourself. There is a slideshow option. The program has an option to add your own images.

All in all, this seems like a useful program for those who are busy enough to want a calendar at the ready. I was unable to get it to run normally on my system. Uninstalled.

Buggy software. No matter the installation path you choose, it will leave the programs 'uninstaller' in the default folder which happens to be in newly created sub-folder named 'programs' seen in the users root folder. The installer should use standard installation locations and not create on-the-fly locations.

Configuring the software is pleasant, with many layout options and settings that tweaks the position of the wallpaper and various forms of calendar styles and placements. When the Options screen is shown, the program's layout for the wallpaper, calendar, and notes are in the correct placement and move/change in real-time.

One feature I would like to see, is if I were to double-click a layout a mini-window would be shown so I can further tweak the final location and/or size of the overlay objects.

Now for the bug: Once you exit Options after setting it up, the wallpaper shifts position (on all 3 of my monitors), carrying with it 'images 'of the programs icons while those program icons and calendar itself is invisible but accessible. The same is true even after exiting the program from the Notification Tray and starting it up again... items are invisible. Refreshing the wallpaper has no effect.

Once my mouse cursor turns to a 'hand' over the invisible wallpaper area where the calendar date is suppose to be at, I click it and do see the popup window so I can configure notes for that particular date on the calendar.

Unfortunately today's GOTD is broken for me, on my Windows 10 Pro x64 Build 10586 system.

Thanks GOTD and Art Plus Inc. This software is unique and has potential, but these issues could be related to my multi-monitor system or particular 'stable' build of Win10, for which this software is suppose to support.

Uninstalled for now, but looking forward to a version that works down the line.

arttronics, About that shifting images... Can you tell me more about it? This sounds like some conflict between our program and Windows 10 Multiple desktops setup.

Anyway, to tell you the truth, program was tested for two monitor setup only. Most of our users have one or two monitors, so we're not really targeting people with advanced setup like yours. I don't think we'll be changing our market goals in your direction anytime soon. Sorry.

Developer,
To be sure, I'm not using Multiple Desktops, just Multiple Monitors.

Essentially, the program does actually create the correct 'single monitor' image I need but it's using a created Transcoded Desktop image (which combines 3 images to form 1) and that shifting is due to the height of my PLP (portrait-landscape-portrait) monitor orientation.

The weird thing is what I wrote about: The entire layout is seen correctly only when Options Mode Window is seen. My guess is that once the program processes the 3 images into 1 to create the Transcoded desktop wallpaper, something goes wrong with that process. As I already have the software uninstalled, I did not look at that image in detail, but I did try to sync the mode 'Center' and 'Tile' from Windows native 'Personalize' option along with the programs internal setting but that did not correct the issue.

To be sure, I could use your program as it stands, and use another program ( zBar ) to set the 3 individual wallpaper images, one per each monitor, and that would be a valid solution ( zBar would also create a Transcoded image, but in that case it would be visually correct. ).

Thanks for your presence here at GOTD. :D

arttronics, Thanks! Yes, that is correct. It creates one huge image that spreads through all the monitors, so you may be onto something!

We'll see what can be done for future releases of ePix (though probably not Monaco Aquarium any more).

Thanks again for the info! :)

Sorry for not being able to solve the problem soon enough for your system configuration though :(

arttronics,

Wow...way to over think something...it's a screen saver...who besides kids uses these ?

Mothman, It's not a screensaver. It's a calendar.

Screensavers activate after some time of inactivity. This program is always on and you can add notes to it for reminder, or simply enjoy some images.

It's not for everyone, granted!

But it's not a kids stuff either.
