I originally use this to record my iPhone 6, and I found that my iphone screen will be synced to PC, which is amazing. But the recording would be realized only after my iPhone connected to PC, sometimes it's not convenient, what if I don't have a computer by my side? Anyway, I really like the mirroring function of it. Also, the recorded file will be kept to PC to save my phone storage, thanks for the considerate app. Keep moving!

It can cast my iPhone 6s screen to my PC. The resolution is good. I like it! Thank you. But do I have to buy after one year?

System requirements written above are
Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 10; iOS 7.0 or later
BUT once I installed the app on windows XP I couldn`t log in and therefore could not use the application. When I tried to fix the issue I followed the link "How to fix Apowersoft login issues?" posted by Apowersoft where it says: "If unfortunately you are running XP or Vista on your computer, you are strongly suggested to update the system to Windows 7, 8 or 10. Otherwise, even though you have installed Apowersoft software, you cannot load the login window. "
To make a long story short - system requirements are different as written in the description.

Romana, sorry for the trouble, the system requirements shown on the page has been modified by the website accidentally. It's true that our program works fine on Windows 7, 8 and 10.

Susan, Usually that means someone gave it a thumbs-down between when you loaded the page and when you voted and they cancelled each other out.

One Year?

As a matter of principle, I refuse to purchase or even be a partaker of a "FREE" time-limited offer.

When you buy something it should be yours.

Now, if the developer makes improvements to their product and I think those changes will be useful to me, I should have the OPTION to pay them additional money for their 'new and improved version'.

But, if I am happy and content with the version I originally purchased, I should NOT HAVE TO PAY THEM TWICE.

Under their proposal, if I keep the app for five years, I'll have to pay them FIVE TIMES!

And on and on it goes!

This is a relatively new phenomenon. At one time, the ONLY software that used this business model were anti-virus companies. This was somewhat justified, as they had to do DAILY updates to keep their product viable.

Now, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon with their greedy little paws.
They are hoping people will be gullible suckers and make them rich.

If you went to the appliance store and bought a refrigerator and a year later the salesman came knocking on your door and said you would have to pay for it again, or, tomorrow they would send a truck out to your home and reposess your fridge, would you write them a check for another $800?

OF COURSE YOU WOULD NOT!
This is a silly illustration, but if you think it through, it's not really that different.

Send these greedy developers a message!

TELL THEM NO!

Tell them to go back to an honest business model.
The one where you will happily BUY their product... BUT REFUSE TO RENT IT!

Mister Lee, IF a software developer spends considerable time routinely improving their product, then they have every right to charge a maintenance fee, whether it be a portion of the original price OR the full price of the initial license on a per annual basis. FYI - if some software vendors (especially those who sell business solutions) DIDN'T charge an annual maintenance fee, they'd be lucky to survive more than a couple years and they would go out of business. Would YOU sell someone a fridge and give them an infinite warranty?? Of course you wouldn't, because if you did then you shouldn't be in business. I sell a retail software product that sells for a very reasonable price, and I've been providing my customers with free support for YEARS, and I wish I hadn't for the simple reason that some of my customers can't even be bothered to say Thank-You, not to mention to support a product free of charge for almost a decade is NOT a sustainable business model. Am I a "GREEDY" developer?? Until YOU spend years developing a software product, you have no damn business criticizing software developers as a whole. Also, a software license DOES NOT entitle you to ownership of the product, and that's WHY it's called a "License". Maybe try doing some research about how our industry works before running your mouth, Sir.

Mister Lee, you have the rights to use the software for one year free. The software has been changed to SAAS version. You should know more about SAAS before submitting your comment here. How can you compare it with the refrigerator?

Justin Alias

Hello Justin, I believe I made it clear in my comment, that I WAS NOT suggesting the developer was bound to providing on-going support for my purchase. I specifically said, if they improved their product and I wanted to partake in the new and improved version, I could choose to pay more funds to him, OR, if I was content with my original purchase I would owe nothing.

You are trying to twist my words by adding things like "infinite warranty"; which I never said or implied. In fact I said just the opposite.

Apparently, you made a serious mistake with your product by offering a lifetime warranty to your buyers.
You live and learn in this life.
In retrospect, I'm sure you wish you had offered your buyers a more reasonable one year of free support.

In the long run, if you established a new policy of:
1) Buy my product
2) I will offer you one year of support with your purchase.
3) After one year, if I keep developing and improving the product you will have to make a new purchase, which will include the 'new and improved version' and another year of support. The fee would be at 50% off.
4) At any point along the way, your customer can choose to stop purchasing upgrades and keep a 100% functioning version of what they have purchased thus far.

The above seems to me to be a win/win for the developer and the purchaser.

Do you agree with that?

*One more thing I will add to this discussion. You have to keep in mind... your app is just one of many the consumer will have on their machine. I for one, have several dozen apps on my computer. What if ALL these developers adopted your "rent to use" policy.
THE YEARLY COMBINED FEE WOULD BE ENOURMOUS! -- In the long run I believe the "rent to use" policy will FAIL. Why? We live in a capitalist society Justin. When there is a need, someone will step in and provide an answer to that need. It's called competition. When the dust finally settles, those that have adopted the short-sighted, "rent to use" policy will fail. I hope for your sake, you will abandon your philosophy and re-think what will work best for you long-term.

Best wishes to you my friend.

Mister Lee

Mister Lee,

"As a matter of principle, I refuse to purchase or even be a partaker of a "FREE" time-limited offer."
A "FREE" time-limited offer gives you a chance to evaluate the product at no charge. Why wouldn't you want to take advantage of an offer like that? I do, and this is how I determine whether or not a software product suits my needs and delivers what I expect from it.

"When you buy something it should be yours." Seeing as software is an intangible product, your statement doesn't apply to it. Read any EULA and you'll understand.

"Now, if the developer makes improvements to their product and I think those changes will be useful to me, I should have the OPTION to pay them additional money for their 'new and improved version'." I agree with that in the sense that any update that would force you to pay twice is unethical and not a wise business practice.

"This is a relatively new phenomenon. At one time, the ONLY software that used this business model were anti-virus companies. This was somewhat justified, as they had to do DAILY updates to keep their product viable." This is where you are incorrect; a lot of software vendors have been selling subscriptions for years. Why? Because they provide support, and if they didn't use a subscription model they'd be unable to pay their staff.

"Now, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon with their greedy little paws.
They are hoping people will be gullible suckers and make them rich." You sound bitter about this. I highly doubt everyone and their dog is getting "rich" as you put it.

"Apparently, you made a serious mistake with your product by offering a lifetime warranty to your buyers." I never offered my buyers a "lifetime warranty" at all, I offer them a lifetime license, and there's a HUGE difference between the two. Yes, there was a time when I re-engineered one of my products from complete scratch, which took months to do, and that would have (and should have) been the ideal time to up-sell my customer base to the new version at a price. My bad for not doing that and being generous. Live and learn indeed. At the same time, you'd be surprised how cheap some people can be; they expect you to spend hours or days adding new features that nobody else may never even use and they expect to pay nothing for your time. Meanwhile, they have no problem splurging on vacations and buying new cars and homes. Who's being greedy?

"3) After one year, if I keep developing and improving the product you will have to make a new purchase, which will include the 'new and improved version' and another year of support. The fee would be at 50% off." Actually, I would charge them the going rate for subsequent versions; discounting is a BAD idea, you have to take into account inflation. Does Microsoft still charge $99 for the Windows operating system? If they did, we'd still be using Windows 1.0.

"What if ALL these developers adopted your "rent to use" policy." Again, you're NOT renting the software, you're paying a license fee to use it. There's a HUGE difference between the two, and any license for can have its own terms of use. The sky is the limit when it comes to software licensing. Linux is open source and typically free of charge to use, but the GPL is an applicable software license in and of itself.

Long story short, I don't believe in charging my customers twice to use my product, and this is why I grant them a perpetual (lifetime) license.

I hope this clarifies a few things so you have a better idea of how software licensing works.

Best regards,
JA

Note the way to get it to work is:
(i) Install and create an account at https://www.apowersoft.com/giveaway
(ii) Run it up and login with the account.
(iii) Swipe up on iPhone/iPad and choose Apowersoft as the screen mirroring option (that's how you initiate it, not in the program, it just looks like an Apple TV to the device).

Rather strangely, and a first, it installed in Spanish and ran up in Spanish. Never had that happen before. Luckily I just have enough Spanish to get it changed to English. I have the older 1.1.2 version from a previous Giveaway which I don't believe was time limited and this overwrites that. (No idea it it still worked with iOS 11 though, busy recovering it from backup so I can see.) Update: I put 1-1-2 back (dated July 2016) and it doesn't seem to have any time restriction (it still says it's registered) but won't work with iOS 11.1.2 (in my tests) so isn't that much point.

It's a one year licence rather than a one year trial, and I don't hate them. I think for products that may need regular updating having a working product for a year is probably better than a product that will run for ever, but stops functioning after a few months when something changes. Also it's paid software supplied for free, so people should have reasonable expectations IMHO.
