Ok what am I doing wrong, I've tried this on several dvd's and it does not work for me? I've read lots of the comments that say that it works great even on copyrighted dvd's, why does it not work for me?

It seems there's something very bad going on with Aplus DVD Copy.

A number of people are reporting that the program crashes after a couple of uses. It's looking like a rubbish program.

I suggest it would be wise of GotD to have a word to Aplus and suggest that they issues some information or an update - otherwise both GotD and Aplus will be looking as very irresponsible offering software as faulty as this.

News, please?

I tried to compress then burn a disk from a 6 Gig file on the harddrive - twice. Both times it compressed successfully then got to 99% burned then locked up. Anybody have any ideas why? or a fix?

I didn't have much luck with this one, I kept getting an error message which made no sense to me. It also took well over an hour, and my machine is fairly fast. I have other programs I use that do a faster/better job, but I just had to try it out. I uninstalled it.

I just installed Aplus yesterday and I had no problems with the registration number. I had read before installing all the comments about it so I knew what to do. Consequently, no problems. As for the DVD disks, I used Maxell DVD-R 4.7 16X 2 hours and had no problem. I copied three movies and everything was fine. When I buy more DVDs I will look for the 9.5 ones. Good luck

Don't know if anyone reads these comments the day after but here goes.
This is my last post on the rundl132 "virus?" "malware?' whatever ware.
I went into my registry and looked around for it and I found it also in a download of a game from the other day "Alien Terminator" which was at GAOTD game site. Just food for thought.

This software doesn't work. It can rip the disc to the hard drive fine, but when it comes to actually burning the result to a disc, it either bails out with a cryptic exception or it hangs up the entire system. I've burned two coasters trying to get this to work. To make matters even more frustrating, there isn't an options dialog that might help fix the problem(allowing the user to change the way the DVD burner is accessed, write speed, etc).

In my opinion, it's not worth the trouble. There are free alternatives that work a whole lot better!

@ 1...I for one was very happy when I saw the Aplus DVD Copy program and FREE. I have wanted something like that for years and didn't know what to look for on the internet and couldn't afford to buy it from the store. I am a 67 great grandmother and on fixed income and do appreciate it when I see a free program on here for us. I never saw anything like this 2 or 3 weeks ago in here. Now I have a PowerPoint builder and the DVD copier. Thanks GAOTD team. We do appreciate what you are doing for us. Terry

i tried this software and it seemed to work great.
but when i played the dvd i made, i only have the french audio track.
every other feature of the original dvd seems to be there and works but no english audio....was it just a glitch in the copy? or is there something i did wrong? anyone else have this problem?

It ripped two DVDs successfully, in just little over 30 minutes in each case, and successfully burned one of them twice, and the other one once. Then it started crashed with each attempted burn. It crashes within a couple seconds of starting the burn. This was on two separate XP boxes.

Is this their strategy? Suck you in with a working product, and make it fail, so you feel compelled to pay for it, in order to get support?

If so, that's not working with me. Crashes are off-putting.

Thanks so much for this program! It works great and is easy to use on my Vista Home Premium. Just like it says, it finished in 30 minutes. I unchecked "include subtitles" & "include menus" making it so it didn't have to be compressed so much. I used an HP DVD+R 16X. It looks just as good as the original. I also made sure to click on "English" under "Audio Track" on the drop down menu to make sure I had sound as some had that problem. It plays well on my DVD player, but I haven't tried it on the computer, because my husband is watching it and won't let me take it out to try on other media players at this point. All in all, I would buy this if I had to reformat. I did have a problem registering, but after reading more comments, realized I had to make sure there was no space after the last letter when I copied and pasted it.

For those worried about viruses or spyware in this download:

Kaspersky Internet Security did not detect any viruses in this download setup file. Nor did it detect any suspicious activity during installation. However, it is possible for Kaspersky to miss spyware.

The best spyware software I've found is Spyware Doctor by PCTools. You can get a free version at tools.google.com . You can run it in the background, and when it has completed its scan it will tell you if you have any spyware problems. If so, you then open it and tell it to disinfect. The free version will not scan a single file or folder. For me, it usually finds no problems, but two days ago it found 17 infections in the registry and disinfected all.

Same as #169 here. Burned a coaster without sound and then saw Mr Fowles' note on selecting the language. Then the whole program went into oblivion.

Uninstalled, reinstalled, Cleaned the Crap (Nero leaves a hellava lot of muck around) and tried again: selected language and - bombed.

Any ideas?

I should, say that I ripped to HDD without any reference to language (should have I?) and then saw the Fowles note, but that wouldn't seem to be important.

Dead in the water.

Support copy any copyright protected DVD movies.

Somehow I doubt they were able to obtain a license to do that legally. It ain't my problem though, the MPAA isn't going to be knocking down my door for this. But I wouldn't want to put money in Aplus Software, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

# 162 Thank you! I was very careful to only copy the code, and it worked.

BTW: I didn't mean to post my comment twice! Sorry!

Thank you GAOTD for all the wonderful programs you offer! I learn a lot from some of the comments here. I appreciate more experienced users sharing their knowledge with the rest of us.

I am a stickler for proper grammar BUT, English is a very difficult language to learn. I give credit to all the developers for doing as well as they do. People need to cut them some slack. Would they prefer perfect grammar in the native tongue of the developer, or deal with less than perfect grammar in English?

I just completed the DL and install.. and as suggested, changed the registration name to my own. I was also careful to copy just the key and nothing but the key, and everything went well.
Can't wait to copy some of the DVD's that the kids have been threatening to scratch up. I'd much rather keep the originals and let them wreck copies!
Thanks GAOTD!

Been reading the comments on this download. I downloaded and activated it early today, had none of the problems of other posters. Copied 1 dvd, worked perfectley, very simple to use. In the past like a lot of other posters I have been using dvdfab to rip it to hard drive than fire up shrink than after the shrink and than the burn you need to go and delete all the temp files from your computer as they are very large. This program is so much easier to use. Thank you for a great freeware program.

I am fed up when people say that this is no good because there's freeware alternatives. I mean, share the freeware but don't say that a software is bad just because there's freeware available - even if the freeware is better. Just look at us - here we are in Windows when there's Linux - open source and free. Why didn't anyone mention that? The thing is, if something is not freeware, it does have some advantages that the freeware don't have.

In the case of DVD Copy, you can probably copy into an ISO for unprotected DVD, but you can't make a perfect clone. You can use freeware but DVD Copy is much easier to use if you have little knowledge on the subject of copying protected DVDs. It makes life easier, even for those who knows.

So, there's a price for that. You think it's worth it, you pay (in the case of GAOTD, you pay by giving constructive feedback). If not, you use some freeware and share the info with the rest of us. Don't just complain. You can't probably even write "Hello world" to save your life. At least, give some valuable feedback to the developers and hopefully they'll they develop the ultimate application and share it with us as their show of gratitude.

And don't complain about the English. You probably can't write "Hello world" in Russian or Chinese without looking up a dictionary. Instead, here's what I usually do; if the software is really good, I'd write up something in the best English I can an email it to the developers. Be constructive. Maybe they'll send you a free copy one day - or some money.

Be good to the world and the world will be kind to you.

It's a good job I wait until the giveaway time is almost up.

Reading through the comments left all day today we have people saying it's rubbish "cos registration does'nt work" then another explaining it does,Then we have the dll virus followed by an explanation.

Then we have "does'nt copy sound please help" and a fix for this problem.
Then it starts all over again over registration.

Surely people should read the comments before posting their comment (which here in this case has been posted a few times already)?

The software works well on my PC with or without DTS checked so I assume it's the codecs on some peoples PC's that are causing the problem?
As for "Does it copy protected DVD's? Well Just like DVD Shrink...Yes it does!

The bigger question is, will it give us updates to keep with newer encryption on newer movies?
I'm not really sure about this although AnyDVD covers this on my PC and is good software to have.

This will NOT copy DVD Based games as it looks for Two folder Video_TS and Audio_TS (Basically the DVD standard you'll see when a movie copier has copied files to your PC)
The way with DVD Shrink is to look for the Video_TS Folder to copy with, This program given today makes the process slightly more easier.

Obviously, You'll need the DVD Drives on your PC to use this (Reader and Writer)
If you have the hardware then this is well worth the download as different programs tend to work better than others on slightly scratched discs.
I've had some where DVD Shrink has failed as well as Clone DVD, This program today actually worked on my awkward scratched disc!

Another note, As you get used to this program, try removing any extras from the original disc to make more space so the movie does'nt have to be compressed as much on a DVD5 Disc...A DVD 9 Disc should pose no problems at all :-)
If in doubt use a RW disc so you don't end up with a coaster, Experimenting with software like this can only help you get better results.

@#172 TMR
Did you ever think that it's maybe something you're doing instead of putting down the software. If you only took the time to read all the other posting instead of getting frustrated you would see a few others have the same problem as you because when they copied and pasted the code, it's been reported by other posters that some how when coping the code it enters an extra space making it not be to register right. Best thing to do is try manually enter the code whenever a code is not accepted this way. If you also took the time to seek help in the forums instead of here you would have seen a topic on just what your problem was.

Thank you!!!!! I did what you suggested and checked the DTS and it worked! I understand about the DVD5 and DVD 9 now also.
BTW I didn't mention it before because some people were complaining so much instead of reading the suggestions given. I am well aware of the art of copy and paste in the registration fields. Since we only had 3 tries to get it right I came back in here and read the first post that mentioned they had to type in the codes so on the 3rd time I typed in everything and it registered just fine.
I am so happy because I just made my very first copy of a DVD and it all fit on a regular DVD 5 and I got all of the features same as the original plus the quality was great also. I am glad that you offered this product again because I missed it the first time.
Thank you so much!

Tried out this software & it worked wonderfully. An 87 minute movie was burned in 17 minutes flat. There was no quality loss & it functioned exactly as the original. There was no problem with installation on a 2.13ghz with 1 gb ram, Windows XP SP3.

For those of you who are unsure of the law regarding back-up copies & come off sound ignorant (#133):

The RIAA would have you believe that it's illegal to make back-up copies, and like sheep, so many people are willing to go along with it. The DMCA passed by Congress permits an owner to make an archival copy for backup purposes. Copyright infringement only takes place when you sell, give away, or otherwise dilute the value of the material to the copyright holder. Technically, you could make a billion copies and wallpaper your house with them, without diluting the market value of the original, and there'd be no copyright violation.

Overall, the likelihood of you being prosecuted for what you do in resgard to copying and watching video in the privacy of your home, solely for the use of your family and not involving the Internet is nil. (Unless it concerns child porn or espionage.) You may wish to have a look at the Electronic Frontier Foundation Web site for more info. http://www.eff.org/ Also, for more info on DMCA check out the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMCA If you want to get into the subject in any depth, you need to research the GATT Uruguay Round documents on intellectual property. http://www.wto.org/

However, if you give or sell just one COPY to anyone, you can found guilty on intent to distribute. (Like a drug dealer.) Then you'd have fines and penalties imposed on all TITLES that have been copied. So, making a copy of any CD or DVD be it music, a game, or a video is not in itself a crime. At least, not so long as you are only protecting the original from wear and tear. Also, be sure any copy of a disc found in your home is accompanied by a LEGALLY purchased ORIGINAL.

The reason people have trouble registering is that they accidentally copy a space with the code. Make sure you don't have any extra spaces.

Personallly I like to make a copy for watching and save the original from all the wear and tear, dirt, scratches, etc that can ruin a good DVD.I've learned from experience that a DVD you really like and watch multiple times, usually will become worn or damaged enough to skip or be rejected by the DVD player, etc, at about the time that it becomes nearly impossible to find a replacement DVD because the movie will no longer be a hot seller.
No matter how careful you are, DVDs develop scratches etc (sometimes even a brand new DVD has minor scratches on it right out of the box!

This program installed and registered smoothly with no problem on both my xp desktop and vista laptop.

Re rundll32 and rundl132, if you have rundl132, then you've picked up malware somewhere!

CastleCops is a very good site for staying informed about malware and its tactics. The link I pasted, lists startups and if you look, you will see malware & worms that use slight variations of the windows rundll32 file. It's a very common trick for malware to disguise itself as a filename that is nearly identical to a normal system file. Here is an example, a description of how to distinguish one malware form of rundll32 from the legitimate file.
Added by the SANKER VIRUS! Note that the valid "rundll32.exe" resides in C:\Windows\System32 wheras this version resides in C:\Windows

http://www.downloads.subratam.org/startuplist.html

Re freeware, I have used some freeware that was superior to shareware. TED Notepad is one good example of a freeware text editor/notepad alternative that has tons of features, and especially has the ability to alphabetically sort text lines in a long list and then REMOVE DUPLICATE LINES! Try searching sometime for a text editor that will remove duplicate text lines...unless someone has a new program out there recently, your searches will probably turn up only ONE shareware program (which I did try once and got a nasty case of Spy Sheriff rogue and browser hijacker along with the trial of the shareware! If you look at antivirus test results, you will see that the freeware antivirus programs hold their own. And the freeware Spybot Search & Destroy and its resident Tea Timer real-time guard has saved me from browser hijacking and sneak attempts to mess with my registry a number of times.

Re: grammar errors...since someone posted the price of licenses for the program in EUROS, I would assume that the software developer's native language is not English, and many other languages differ greatly from English in grammar and sentence structure. A number of languages do not have tenses and/or definite articles, and either do not use prepositions or make much less use of them than does English.

Spell checkers often are a CAUSE of errors due to their inability to correctly distinguish the difference between words such as their, there and they're, or too two to, just two examples where quite often you will notice the wrong form of the word being used due to the spell checker's limitations!

The best way I know of to learn to appreciate the challenges English presents to someone whose native language isn't English, is to help someone who is learning English or working to improve their English, and see what English is like from their perspective...it most likely will make you become more patient and understanding of grammatical errors made by people who aren't native English speakers!

@132 Is there any special reason to use my own name instead of just pasting in GAOTD to register the program?
#19, somebody the other day posted in comments about how to save the registry keys for registered GAOTD programs. Maybe the expert who has that knowledge will be kind enough to post it again.

Ok! I just did a search, an advanced search as well as a manual search in C:\Windows\system32 & rundll32 is there, as it is on my Vista Syatem. It is a Windows Host process and nothing out or the norm of things.
It's there on both of my systems however run32dl132 isn't and thats the one that either is or can lead to a nasty. All I will say is that if it's on your PC, it almost assuredly didn't come from todays give away!

Well you live and learn don't you
I now know that DTS audio refers to the Digital Theater System.
and I found that to record sound then forget about that DTS audio button and select the language from the almost hidden drop down menu headed "Audio track"
not obvious at all and a little but patently vital point that the software writers could very easily clarify and rectify
forget the "DTS" popup its going to be irrelevant for the majority of users anyway as well as being so offensivly ungrammatical!!

I am now waiting patiently for the remaining 70 % of the third DVD to burn, and it had better have a soundtrack this time as I already have sufficient CD or DVD coasters thank you very much with two more created today already due to the inept GUI and lack of clear explanations/instructions of this program

Some users of this software are experiencing no sound on copy. Selecting “Include DTS Audio” option doesn't seem to resolve this issue. Do I hear any other suggestions for fixing this "no sound" problem? The software has a nice user interface and does a good job of copying video, but the audio is the real problem in my case.

So, it's actually accepted my registration 3 times. In other words, it thanks me for registering and the software interface tells me that it's registered. However, when I try to make a copy from my hard disk to my hard disk, the software asks me to register or I can use one of my 3 freebie copies. What happened to my already being registered. When I try using one of the 3 free uses, I get a message saying that "a problem caused the program to stop working correctly." and then it shuts down. Any ideas on a:) why it tells me I'm registered then asks me to register, and b:) why the program won't work (I'm using Vista and I've already tried rebooting).
Thanks.
