I had no trouble installing it and getting the registration code. The problem I see is that after I "successfully" registered it, it brought me to a page that says that I have 699 days and 19 hours and 8 minutes left for me to buy it at 40% off. Huh?

Can I crop the actual size of the video so uploading is faster and viewing is not distorted in any way?

This co. offered another software very recently and I liked it enough to buy it. Then a week later I downloaded a trial of this video editor and I liked it enough to pay for it using their discount coupon. I found this editor easy for me to use, as simple with few features and quick learning. This works very well for my needs and so can recommend it for any users not computer savvy like me. Video guides at their website confuse me yet when I worked on an actual project to split a video then join the parts, I played around till figured it out. Cropping a video enlarges a section with consequent change in resolution. Anyway the howto lessons barely show the range of what these apps can do.

gnovice, cropping reduces a video size not enlarges it or a section. Dependant on whether its a time-line based crop or a video resolution crop.... either way the resultant video will be smaller in what ever dimension you are cropping it in.

TK, Umm no, not what I got. You can try it out in the trial version. When I cropped a small square of a video (say blocking about one fourth of the total image), this block once cropped (removing rest of image) did not stay as one-fourth size yet expanded itself (Enlarged) and showed as full screen size (it enlarged itself to fill full screen meaning did not stay same size as the block I put a crop around), with a resulting much reduced image quality and I call that reduced resolution (maybe not correct term since new at this) and visually far less sharp compared to original video, in fact slightly blurry. The resultant video did not look smaller since it filled the entire screen same as the original. Even though I only wanted a small block out of the original, after testing all options provided, could not do it. If you figure it out kindly let us know. I did get what I wanted to remove all the furniture around my friend and just show him reading in a chair. Again, on my computer window, I watched a video in playback about size 4x6 inches, then I used this video editor to crop a corner of about 1x2 inches, then this 1x2 inch crop exploded to fill the entire 4x6 window. New a this so don't know how else to explain it. Appreciate your reply.

gnovice, ewww I see what you mean... that is not what is meant by cropping a media file. That is a digital zoom tool to digitally zoom into the selected area of the media and magnify it to the dimensions of the original. Traditional crop tool produces an output video of the dimensions of the crop selection alone.
The clue is in the selector choice of Zoom type. It should have an additional Zoom option of "None" so the output was the dimensions of the cropped area.

I just used it on a small mpeg2 video clip with an h264 output profile with everything set to the profiles defaults of keep original and auto for aspect ratio and zoomed into ( what it calls cropped ) 314x176 left zoom mode at letterbox and keep aspect ratio.... for propper crop I should have ended up with a video of dimensions of 314x176 but it zoomed the cropped selection to input files dimensions of 768x432 and to make matters worse the output video duration was only 58 seconds instead of the full duration of the input video probably because it was done using the trial version... but the output video file size that is supposed to be compressed using h264 and using AAC audio codec instead of mpeg1/2 is 138Mbytes while the mpeg2 original video of duration was 1 min 57 sec and the file was only 47Mbytes. So this cropping zooms the video content digitally without any smart filtering and somehow uses a way more efficient output codec capable of greater comression than the input codec but ends up near trippling the file size too! Yes it was easy to do but that isn't what crop is supposed to do!

I can make it crop a bit like it should but I have to set the output format to the crop area dimensions and not leave it as same as input dimensions but because we cannot specifiy the exact dimension but just choose from those offered, I have to modifiy the crop area to match the output video size to avoid wasteful zooming or shrinking to the preset dimensions and choose a sensible bitrate to actually compress the output file and not make it bigger than the input file size... When I compensated for the bugs that make it zoom the cropped area to the original videos dimension and not keep the cropped video dimensions and made it use a sensible bitrate it produced a trial 58second video as before but this time instead of being 138Mbytes it is just 2.4Mbytes and 352x240 resolution which is what a cut cropped mp4 output should have been in the first place! Now I got the right results in the end because I am experienced in what a crop tool *should* do and was able to massage the settings to get close to the required output but those that don't know end up with the cropped area zoomed to the original videos dimensions with poorly compressed video because of some incorrect default bitrate and it using the original video dimensions as the output video size and not the cropped area as the output video dimensions like it should. I am going to uninstall it once again now that's cleared up... what a mess!

For those that don't see the Get Free Registration Code button on their registration wizard (It always seems to happen on this group of "companies" giveaways... Go to the URL

https://www.apeaksoft.com/special/gotd/video-editor/?utm_source=gotd&utm_medium=video-editor&utm_campaign=bd

And please do note that the text clearly states on that page:

"Please enter your Name and E-mail address and click on the "Register" button. In a few minutes, you will receive an email with an annual license. Your e-mail address will only be used to accept the registration code, and will not be shared or stored for any other purposes."

So it's at most a 12 month license and you can be moderatly certain that if you want to renew at the end of that 12 months you cannot renew another 12 months license as they do not sell an annual license only a lifetime license for 1 or upto 3 PCs.

Checkout the buy page for the product at:

https://www.apeaksoft.com/store/purchase-video-editor.html

The "Hot" tagged item is the price listed as this giveaways normally sold at price... draw your own conclusions!.

Also note that that same page has the line of text on it:

"Platform: Windows XP (SP2 or later), Windows Vista/7/8/10"

On the functionality of this suite of wizards it is not a video editor that provides a time line that one can edit or apply filters or effects to selected parts of the video but a selection of conversion wizards with each "edit" function or group of functions available one function type or group in each wizard so to perform multiple operations on one video file one will have to have it decode the original video, apply the operation and then re-encode it using a lossy video and audio encoder using FFMPEG DLLs. Which will waste alot of time AND significantly degrade the quality of the video.

It is also using quite old versions of FFMPEG DLLs too as can be seen by the fact that it still supports XP the FFMPEG executable is renamed to convertor.exe and is FFMPEG 2.5 copyright GPLv3 up till 2013

I'll stick with VSDC video editor, either the Free or the Pro editions are both better and cheaper than this program. And it's UHD capable too. It supports chroma keying as well as multiple video and audio input tracks too in the non-linear timline editor.

Program similar to Aiseesoft Video Enhancer or 4Videosoft Video Converter.
Very good programs !
High CPU consumption for the enhancement function, especially for resolution.
