Apeaksoft Blu-ray Player takes over your file associations without informing the user. After installing or running the program, you may want to reset your preferences for which program should be the default. I don't mind installing a program to check it out but I don't want it to override my preferences unless I am prompted to do so.

Gary, I got surprised by this also.
When I try to correct this through the "Open with" then "Choose the default program," and when I try that it responds with "The parameter is incorrect."
Do you know the solution for this?

Gary,
A quick f/u on my last comment:
Usually I have Glary Malware Hunter running, and this Blu-Ray installer circumvented it and that's how it changed my VLC Player's default association, then it reverted Glary Malware Hunter to block successive attempts to change my default association. I had to turn OFF the Glary Malware Hunter, then go into the Control panel/ File associations, and make the change there. Now I have desired association for non-Blu-Rays.

As you noted, this Blu-Ray does NOT NOTIFY the user on installation of the sneaky change. Moreover, the program's Settings Menu does not contain any options in this regard. DON'T FORGET TO TURN YOUR PROTECTIONS BACK ON AFTER YOU'VE MADE THE CHANGE.

GOTD should vet applications for this sort of activity.

I have an older laptop that with a bluray player that lost its ability to play bluray disks when I upgraded to windows 10 - as did everyone else with this model.
Will this software allow my dvd player to accept bluray disks again?
Or do I need to suck it and see?

Marieah, I'm 90% sure it will work for you. The reason I'm not 100% is the possibility you have some other kind of problem with your laptop.
My advice, give it a try. It won't cost you anything to try, except 5 minutes or so of your time.

Hi Marieah,

When playing Blu-ray disc or DVD disc, you need to connect the related external drive.

Please check whether your DVD player supports Blu-ray disc or not.

Any other problems, please feel free to contact us support@apeaksoft.com.

Works just like it should. Plays all my media files and blue-ray discs. No frills, nothing to configure, just works. Looks like a keeper for me.

I don't understand how it's possible to play Blu-Ray on the computer without first transferring from a Blu-Ray optical drive, in which case this software is redundant. Please help me understand.

Optical drives don't always come with bundled playback software.

Howie Fraser, You can use a portable Blue-Ray Drive I have 2 of them.

Hi Howie Fraser,

If you want to play Blu-ray disc, you need to connect the external Blu-ray drive to your computer and then insert the Blu-ray disc to the Blu-ray drive.

If you want to play DVD disc, you also need to make sure you have a DVD drive. Click "Open Disc" in the main interface.

Thank you for your understanding in advance,

Any other problems, please feel free to contact us support@apeaksoft.com.

TK, You can just downloud a lot of movies coming out in 2021, they are predominantly extracts from BluRay film. Then why bother using this given-away program? An example; Black Widow (2021) 1920x1080 avc mp3 The Tomorrow War (2021) 1920x800 avc mp3
